Two prominent figures in the Labour Party—the 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and Abia State Governor, Alex Otti—have convened a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
The meeting is scheduled to take place in Abuja on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
According to a notice jointly issued by Obi and Otti, the NEC session will be followed by a town hall engagement involving key stakeholders and various party organs. The event will be held at the Transcorp Hilton.
The notice, signed by Ibrahim Umar, spokesperson for the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR), listed the expected attendees to include the party’s 2023 vice-presidential candidate, serving and former senators, senatorial candidates from the 2023 election, members of the House of Representatives, and LP candidates from the last general election.
Also expected are members of the National Caretaker Committee, former governorship candidates who remain with the party, representatives of the NLC/TUC Political Commission, and all members of the former National Working Committee.
This meeting comes in the wake of last week’s Supreme Court ruling, which dissolved the Julius Abure-led National Working Committee.
