Peace Fund Donates To LAPOWA In Abia As CP Promises More Support

Abia State Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa

Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, stated on Saturday, that the Command would continue to collaborate with members of the Peace Fund, an initiative of the Peace in South East Project (PISE-P) to foster support for wives of Late Police Officers in the State

The commissioner made this statement at the Command headquarters in Umuahia while receiving a delegation of members from the Peace Fund led by Secretary Hon. Mary Ikoku who was on a courtesy visit. He expressed appreciation for their compassionate outreach in recognition of the sacrifices made by the Police officers.

CP Isa, alongside members of his management team, assured that the Command would redouble efforts in safeguarding the lives and properties of Abians, and appreciated the Deputy Speaker House of Representatives Chief Ben Kalu for Initiating the PISE-P and for remembering the Late Police Officers Wives Association (LAPOWA).

“I’m happy the way you people have started. We want this message to go to all the board members that we’re not taking it for granted and we’ll do everything humanly possible to also encourage LAPOWA on our path. This is also a catalyst for what we are going to do,” Isa assured.

Speaking earlier, the Secretary of the Peace Fund Hon. Mary Ikoku said the organisation is dedicated to providing support, resources and advocacy to victims of insecurity, conflict and violence in the South East.

While underscoring their commitment to the welfare of families of fallen heroes who died in active service, members of the Peace Fund donated the sum of 1 million Naira and 100 bags of rice to the Late Police Officers Wives Association

“We feel your pain, and individually and collectively, as members of the Peace Fund, we know that the police force cannot do it alone. They can’t take care of your welfare only by themselves. They will need support and policing is everybody’s business. So we, as a community of peace in Southeast, under this platform of Peace Fund, have come here today to pay you a visit of solidarity. This is a visit of hope. But we’re also happy, in some way, to see you looking good,” Mary said.
