PRESS RELEASE: PDP MUST CONFRONT ITS FEARS IN CROSS RIVER STATE

On February 11th, 2019, a Federal High Court sitting in Calabar delivered a judgment similar to an earlier one by a Federal High Court in Abuja. This is even after the same litigators had earlier lost two court cases on similar subject matter, for which they have gone on to appeal. One wonders why they cannot wait for the determination of the pending appeal. The court judgement has, unfortunately, created confusion and uncertainty in the minds of APC supporters and Cross Riverians generally, which obviously is the objective of the masterminds of the litigations.
However, the contrived ruling of the Federal High Court Calabar has no effect on the legal status of APC candidates for the coming elections. INEC as a body established by law has its internal processes on how to handle the issue of political party candidates standing for elections. Thus far, there has been absolutely no reason and no move to substitute APC candidates for the coming elections. So the status quo ante remains.
The truth of the matter is that the PDP must wake up to the inevitability of facing the APC in the field. It is a reality they cannot run away from come Saturday February 16th, 2019 and March 2nd, 2019. No amount of mischief from any quarters can take away that fact. We, therefore, call on all well meaning Cross Riverians desirous of positive change and the teeming supporters of the APC to disregard the rumors emanating from the court ruling with respect to substitution of candidates. No such thing has happened.
For the avoidance of doubt, it is a certainty that all the candidates published earlier by INEC will stand for elections on Saturday February 16th 2019 and on March 2nd, 2019. We enjoin you all to come out en masse to vote the APC, who have presented your favorite and capable candidates in all the elections, so that together we can help to align Cross River State with the APC-led Federal Government in order to overcome our developmental challenges.
