Ahead of the Ondo governorship election, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Agboola Ajayi, has called for unity within the party.
Ajayi while addressing party women leaders from across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State, said unity was necessary if the PDP must secure victory in the upcoming governorship elections in Edo State in seven days time and in Ondo State on November 16, 2024.
The candidate opined that large turnout and sense of unity at the PDP grand rally in Benin City reflect the party’s commitment to tackling the challenges ahead and restoring the country’s glory.
He noted that PDP has a track record of capacity in handling and managing people, economy and the nation.
According to him, “The mood in the country today is that the PDP is the only messiah the people can look up to.
“With the show of camaraderie displayed in Benin City, it is obvious that the party is ready to take up the challenge to rescue Nigeria from her current handlers. I can’t remember the last time the party supported a cause like this Edo election with its full strength as we have seen.”
Ajayi urged the Edo electorate to queue behind Asue Ighodalo and remained resolute that the party retains the state.
Ajayi also promised to turn around the fortune of women by empowering them financially when elected as governor in the off-circle election in Ondo state.
He said the United Nations affirmation of gender equality would be adhered to from February 24 if he is sworn in as governor.
The women begged PDP leaders to provide enough security and other wherewithal that would further embolden them on the day of the election.
