The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the 2025 budget proposal presented by President Bola Tinubu as unrealistic.
The president had earlier on Wednesday presented the 2025 budget estimate of N47.9 trillion to the joint session of the National Assembly in Abuja.
However, in a statement issued.by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the party dismissed the appropriation bill as unrealistic, opaque and insincere.
The party insisted that the budget was anti-people whose implementation would worsen insecurity and poverty in the country.
According to the PDP, the budget was packaged with unverified economic figures and empty campaign promises.
The party insisted that the details on the capital and recurrent expenditures are uncleared
It faulted President Tinubu’s claim on 84 percent budget performance in 2024.
The statement read:
“The N47.9 trillion 2025 federal budget is an anti-people proposal that, if implemented, will plunge the nation deeper into insecurity, poverty, and hopelessness.
“The budget address was more of campaign rhetoric, filled with unsubstantiated economic statistics, false promises, and conjured performance claims.
” It lacked clear strategies to address insecurity, revive the economy, create jobs, and reduce the cost of living. ”
