NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Games have been bringing back classic looks for legacy fighters in Mortal Kombat 1 via various alternate skins. However, there are still plenty of older designs that fans would undoubtedly want to see make a big return.
That’s where PC modders come in, and a new mod for Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat 1 has emerged that revives a top notch look from the not so distant past.
If you haven’t guessed it yet from the above image, this new mod — which comes from the mind of ArScorpi — takes Sub-Zero back to 2015. That’s right, players now have a way to make Sub look like his Mortal Kombat X version.
Mortal Kombat X is a fast-paced fan favorite title that took a large visual leap from 2011’s Mortal Kombat 9. In it, classic Mortal Kombat kombatants saw more intricate redesigns with tons of details added to their getups.
Sub-Zero’s default costume in MKX sees him rocking a heavily padded version of his original blue ninja garb, his clan’s insignia on his chest, small blades on his arm, belts and buckles, and all sorts of other fine details.
ArScorpi’s mod, which is shown off in amazing fashion thanks to TQT’s exceptional digital photographs of it, does a fantastic job of recreating the look here in Mortal Kombat 1. Everything down to the smallest detail seems to be in place here, and this is one of those mods that looks so good that it deserves to be in the game as an actual costume — via NRS’ own version of it, of course.
