Smart recruitment is of huge importance at Manchester United this season.
CentreDevils confirmed earlier today that United are in ongoing talks with Lecce over Patrick Dorgu.
The Red Devils hope to seal a €40million (£33.8m) deal for the left wing-back before the February 3 deadline.
Dorgu, naturally left-sided but capable of playing on the right, is highly rated for his versatility and creativity.
Ruben Amorim’s system heavily relies on wing-backs, but Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui have not excelled in those roles.
United believe Dorgu could thrive in Amorim’s setup, adding a much-needed attacking and defensive balance to the squad.
If United secure Dorgu’s signature, Tyrell Malacia is expected to depart, reshaping United’s defensive options.
However, Dorgu’s former Denmark U19 coach Jens Fonnskov Olsen has advised caution about joining United.

Speaking to Tipsbladet, Olsen highlighted Dorgu’s talents but voiced concerns about the timing of such a move.
“The thing is that there are many paths to success,” Olsen explained.
“Patrick left North Zealand and got a good defensive education in Italy, which he needed.”
“I was happy with him at Denmark U19.
“He is fast, forward-thinking, and has a very, very good left foot.”
Olsen added: “If I have to be cheeky, I’d hope he chooses somewhere other than Manchester United right now.”
“They’re in a bad period, and structure is crucial for a young player’s growth.”
“I don’t know if you can say no to United, but sometimes things have to go in the right order.”
Despite his concerns, Olsen praised Dorgu’s creativity, work ethic, and ability to adapt to higher levels.
United remain optimistic about the deal, but Dorgu must decide if Old Trafford is the right fit.
