ER Editor: A reminder that Austrians went to the polls in a federal election back on September 29. The populist right party (FPO) under Herbert Kickl won 29% of the vote, with the establishment right (OVP) gaining 26%, the social democrats 20%. There was a solid voter turnout of 80%. And in late November, the populist right solidified their federal win by winning yet again in a regional election (Styria).
Since October, however, excuses have been made for why a populist right government cannot be installed by the Austrian President, which amounts to the ‘nobody will work with them’ refrain. Some sort of probably leftist government coalition will be cobbled together come January. In the meantime, Austrians are witnessing the dysfunctionality of their so-called ‘democracy’.
Now, FPO leader Herbert Kick’s immunity has been lifted so he can be questioned in a case involving advertising payments made by his party in the 2018-9 period, to a tabloid magazine. A request for investigation into this had been denied by the Austrian prosecutor’s office, but now it’s being resurrected.
Note that the OVP (establishment right) have dropped another 5 percent in the polls, down to 21%, since the September election.
The immunity for a small group of others has been lifted, too. See this by Kronen Zeitung —
Now fixed: immunity of FPÖ leader Kickl lifted

The Liberty Beacon Project is now expanding at a near exponential rate, and for this we are grateful and excited! But we must also be practical. For 7 years we have not asked for any donations, and have built this project with our own funds as we grew. We are now experiencing ever increasing growing pains due to the large number of websites and projects we represent. So we have just installed donation buttons on our websites and ask that you consider this when you visit them. Nothing is too small. We thank you for all your support and your considerations … (TLB)
