Paradise Irrigation District searching for new director
PARADISE — The Paradise Irrigation District has a vacant position on its board of directors for the town’s second district, located in the western portion of the town.
Applicants are being asked by the district to fill out a PID Statement of Qualifications by 3:30 p.m. April 18. The statement can be taken to the office directly at 6332 Clark Road in Paradise or emailed to [email protected].
District 2 consists of the areas west of Neal Road and south of Bille Road.
The seat was previously held by Alan Hinman.
Requirements for the role include attending at least one board meeting a month and, on average, one to two committee meetings each month, according to a press release issued Sunday by the irrigation district.
Chris Rehmann, who has served as District 1’s director for about a year, said his experience on the board has been a positive one.
“I was pleasantly surprised with the experience so far,” said Rehmann, who moved to the town just before the Camp Fire in 2018. “My wife and I wanted to do everything we could to help get the town back to normal so this is one of the ways I felt I could help.”
Rehmann encouraged residents of District 2 to apply for the position.
“Progress has been amazing and I’ve been very happy with it,” Rehmann said. “Participation in local government, no matter what it is, is the fundamental stone in our entire country. Everything is built on local government running successfully.”
Rehmann spoke on some of the requirements needed for being on the board, adding that the time has not been a burden.
“Not a lot of time is required,” Rehmann said. “Several hours a month, maybe five to 10 hours a month. Timewise it’s not a huge commitment. I encourage anyone who wants to participate to call the district office.”
The term for the position, once appointed by the board, is until the November 2024 election. More information can be gained from calling 877-4971.
