Riptide 2024 is one of the big tournaments that’s been happening over this past weekend. Both Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Super Smash Bros. Melee have sizeable presences at the event with over 1,000 and 600 entrants respectively.
This provides us with a great opportunity to see how the metas for both titles are developing. For Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, we’ll be taking a look at the characters used by the top 64 performing players, while also considering the top 32 for Super Smash Bros. Melee.
Though it’s been a good while since Palutena won anything major, she tends to be a popular character at the top end of brackets. This time around, four players used the Goddess of Light while one more player used her as a secondary.
Kazuya being the second most popular character is certainly interesting to see. Though Kazuya is recognized as being very strong in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, he can be difficult to play. Regardless, four players used Kazuya as their main this time around.
Steve, Mario, and Zero Suit Samus each had three representatives within the top 64. With Syrup still in the top 8 portion of the bracket, there’s still a good chance that Steve could take the whole event considering that he’s recognized as the best character in the game.
