Chelsea star, Cole Palmer, and Manager Enzo Maresca have won the Premier League player and manager of the month awards respectively for the month of September.
The Blues enjoyed an impressive run in the month under review with three wins against Bournemouth, West Ham, and Brighton, scoring nine goals, which was the highest in the league.
Palmer enjoyed a prolific month in the Premier League with five goals and one assist in four games including a first-half double brace against Brighton.
He became the first player to score four goals in the first half of a Premier League game.
Palmer fought off competition from the likes of Liverpool’s duo, Luis Diaz and Dutch international, Ryan Gravenberch.
Others are Ollie Watkins, Arsenal defender, Gabriel Magalhaes, Harvey Barnes, Raul Jimenez and Everton’s Dwight McNeil.
The 22-year-old has now won the award twice after winning it in April 2024, meaning he has claimed two of the last three available awards.
Only Frank Lampard, with four, has won the award on more occasions for Chelsea than Palmer.
Chelsea coach, Enzo Maresca was also named the Premier League manager of the month after guiding The Blues to an unbeaten run in September.
He led Chelsea to a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace before back-to-back away wins over Wolves and West Ham, and a 4-2 home win over Brighton at Stamford Bridge.
Maresca is winning the award for the first time in his career in his second month as a Premier League manager.
He showered encomiums on the team for their impressive form in September.
Maresca said: “We had a very good month, We all need people around us to make things better. I’m very grateful to have all of them [his staff].
“We are always looking at new things and how we can improve from different football and different countries.”
Maresca becomes the first Chelsea head coach to win the award since Thomas Tuchel, who claimed it in October 2021.
