  • I wanted Fubara removed, but Tinubu saved his job – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, said on Friday that President Bola Tinubu saved the job of the Rivers State Governor, Siminilayi Fubara.

Wike, who spoke during a media chat in Abuja, said he wanted Fubara to be removed outrightly as governor, but the president intervened with the imposition of emergency rule in the oil-rich state.

President Tinubu, on March 18, declared an emergency rule in Rivers over the protracted political crisis in the state.

He also suspended the governor, his deputy, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for six months over their roles in the crisis.

At the media chat, the former governor revealed that Fubara has not reached out to him since his suspension.

He said: “As a politician, I am not happy about the state of emergency in Rivers State.

“I wanted the outright removal of Governor Fubara. The president, by declaring a state of emergency, saved Fubara.

“However, people must tell the truth. The governor was gone. He was gone, yes… so when people say the president did this, I say they should be praising him.

“Every morning, they should go to the president and ask, ‘Can we wash your feet for saving us?

“Has anybody taken it upon himself or herself to say, ‘this is where we are?

“If I am the cause of the problem, has he (Fubara) ever called me as an elder to say what the problem is? Let us sit down and talk.”

  • Charges Filed in Violent Burien Kidnapping Case

Two men have been apprehended and charged with the attempted murder of a Burien woman, following a harrowing incident involving kidnapping, robbery, and torture. Alexander Moises Arnaez-Guttierrez, 25, and Kevin Daniel Sanabria Ojeda, 24, face serious charges, including first-degree robbery, first-degree kidnapping, and first-degree attempted murder, stemming from a violent abduction that occurred on January.

According to court documents, the ordeal began when a 58-year-old woman was ambushed by the two suspects as she was returning to her apartment located on Des Moines Memorial Drive. Investigators report that she was forcibly dragged into their vehicle at gunpoint, where she was made to lie on the floorboard and was brutally kicked in the head.

During the assault, the suspects stole her purse, credit cards, jewelry, and approximately $20,000 worth of gold that she was carrying. In a particularly horrific act, the men coerced her into revealing the PIN for her credit and bank cards while using a power drill to inflict pain on her right hand. They also issued threats to kill her and her family if she sought help or reported the incident.

Following the assault, the suspects allegedly drove the victim to Kittitas County, where they shot her alongside Interstate 90, leaving her for dead. Law enforcement, including deputies and the FBI, utilized cell phone records and tracked the victim’s stolen vehicle to locate and arrest Arnaez-Guttierrez and Ojeda.

Ojeda has previously entered a not guilty plea to the charges against him and remains in custody with bail set at $1 million. Arnaez-Guttierrez is scheduled for arraignment on April 24 and is also being held on a $1 million bail. As the investigation continues, the community remains shaken by the violent nature of this crime, highlighting the serious concerns surrounding safety and security in the area.

  • Manchester United front-runners to sign Premier League star

Over recent weeks, with transfer news heating up, Manchester United have been seemingly slipping behind their Premier League rivals for several targets on their shortlist.

Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens have both been reported to favour other clubs who are looking likely to have guaranteed European football next season due to their league standings.

Whilst The Red Devils aren’t yet ruled out of having European football next season, their final chance to secure it comes with winning the Europa League.

As such, some players are currently preferring a move to teams like Chelsea due to the uncertainty at Old Trafford.

However, it looks as though United could actually be front-runners for one of their summer targets.

Sky Sports has reported that United are leading the race for Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo.

The 25-year-old has shown off his versatility with The Cherries, playing across both wings and grabbing 10 goals and six assists in 36 games this season.

However, his skill hasn’t gone unnoticed with Liverpool, Chelsea, Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, and Manchester City all looking to the Ghana international.

Having arrived at Bournemouth in 2023 for £10.5 million from Bristol City, The Cherries are set for a massive profit on the winger with the club valuing him at £70 million.

United reportedly offered £35 million for the star back in March as they opened up talks with Bournemouth for a move, but this wasn’t enough.

With his contract in place until 2029, Bournemouth hold a strong position of power to negotiate a fee for any summer move, which could ultimately see United outbid due to their financial struggles.

However, Ruben Amorim will be hoping to secure his transfer, being a great admirer of Semenyo and already having ideas on how he could fit into the squad for next year.

  • Potential Sale Of Americans’ DNA May Trigger National Security Review

Potential Sale Of Americans’ DNA May Trigger National Security Review

23andMe has been sharing consumer data with “pharmaceutical companies,” including the “Ministry of Defense of Russia.”

(ZeroHedge) – The U.S. Department of Justice submitted a formal notice to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, which is overseeing the Chapter 11 case of defunct 23andMe Holding Co. (Case No. 25-40976), warning that the potential sale of its assets—including a gigantic pool of millions of Americans’ genetic data—may trigger a national security review by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).

U.S. Attorney Sayler Fleming wrote in a filing that 23andMe is prohibited from selling the genetic data of more than 15 million customers to “covered persons”—companies classified as foreign entities that are 50% or more owned by entities based in countries such as China, Russia, and North Korea.

Fleming’s notice does not ask U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Brian Walsh to take action against any potential 23andMe transactions. Instead, the U.S. government is requesting that CFIUS review any sale of genetic data to ensure foreign adversaries are not using shell companies to acquire it.

Safeguarding the gigantic pool of genetic data of Americans is a national security priority because of the increasing risk that precision bioweapons can be designed to target specific genetic traits or ethnic groups, based on shared DNA markers.

For example, if a hostile actor or rogue group linked to Iran or the Chinese Communist Party accessed genomic data, they could develop pathogens that are more virulent or lethal to those with certain genetic traits.

Last month, James O’Keefe of O’Keefe Media Group stoked maximum fears after releasing a video featuring an undercover journalist speaking with Nathaniel Johnson, a policy advisor at the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

In the footage, Johnson suggested that 23andMe may have already sold off users’ genetic data: “Do not give your information to those people [23andMe]… they sell it to other people.”

Johnson explained: “There’s a clause in their contract, that basically says, like, we can give your information to our shareholders. So that they can do stuff. And all of their shareholders are, like pharmaceutical companies. But some of those pharmaceutical companies are based in other countries, and those pharmaceutical companies in other countries are like the property of, like the Ministry of Defense of Russia. Or, like, owned, by China.”

The risks of genetic data being weaponized for biological warfare should be on the minds of the Trump administration as the great power competition with China goes into hyperdrive by the 2030s.

  • Man convicted of fatally strangling his estranged wife after their separation in 1988

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ore. (TCN) — An elderly man has been convicted of fatally strangling his estranged wife whose body was found in a trunk nearly 37 years ago.

On April 17, the Washington County District Attorney’s Office said a jury found 70-year-old Robert Atrops guilty of second-degree murder in connection with the 1988 death of Deborah Atrops. Robert Atrops will be sentenced on May 20.

According to prosecutors, around the time of her slaying, Deborah Atrops and the defendant experienced marital problems, including alleged physical abuse, and they separated. The victim, who had recently adopted an infant daughter with Robert Atrops, reportedly planned to divorce him.

Co-workers and friends allegedly witnessed “concerning domestic violence behavior” between Deborah Atrops and the defendant shortly before the victim died. Deborah Atrops had also reportedly began a relationship with a co-worker, which the defendant had confronted her about. The victim allegedly feared that Robert Atrops would kill her.

On Nov. 29, 1988, Deborah Atrops left her job for a hair appointment and then planned to pick up her daughter from her estranged husband’s residence. That night, the defendant reportedly called friends, family, and law enforcement to report the victim’s disappearance. According to prosecutors, Robert Atrops said he made the calls from his home phone, but investigators believe he made them from somewhere else.

Police responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle at a remote construction site days later, on Dec. 1, 1988. The vehicle’s window was open with the keys inside, but it didn’t have any plates. Authorities determined the car belonged to Deborah Atrops, and they found her body inside the trunk. She was reportedly wearing mud-covered clothes, and there was also mud smeared on the hood, steering wheel, gear shift, and a tire. An autopsy later revealed Deborah Atrops died by manual strangulation.

According to prosecutors, Robert Atrops told police that he didn’t see his estranged wife that night, but investigators weren’t able to confirm his statement. No arrests were made at the time, and the case went cold for decades.

The case was reopened in 2020, and authorities submitted the victim’s clothing and soil samples for testing. A break came when investigators found the defendant’s DNA on a coat Deborah Atrops was wearing when she died. Prosecutors said the mud found at the scene also matched mud from the defendant’s home. Investigators learned Robert Atrops sold roofing materials at construction sites near where his estranged wife’s body was located.

In 2022, a detective interviewed Robert Atrops and noticed “significant discrepancies from his version of events in 1988.”

  • China moves to limit Boeing deliveries amid trade war, reports say

The United States’ escalating trade war with China could hit Boeing’s future orders and deliveries, according to new reports Tuesday.

China has reportedly ordered its airlines not to take future deliveries of Boeing planes or purchase aircraft-related equipment and parts from U.S. companies, according to a Bloomberg article Tuesday, citing anonymous sources.

The Chinese government also reportedly told Chinese airlines not to place new orders for Boeing jets and is requiring carriers to seek approval before taking delivery of aircraft they have already ordered, according to a Wall Street Journal article also published Tuesday.

President Donald Trump weighed in, writing on the social media platform Truth Social that China “just reneged on the big Boeing deal” and “will ‘not take possession’ of fully committed to aircraft.” Trump’s post was mainly about a separate deal between the U.S. and China related to farmers.

Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal said China made the directives in response to tariffs imposed by Trump that went into effect last week. Those tariffs would reach 145% on goods imported from China.

In return, China imposed its own 125% tariff on goods from the United States.

Boeing and the aerospace industry, like many other economic sectors, have been bracing for some fallout from the new tariffs. In the worst-case scenario, the levies could increase the cost of airplane parts and the finished product, disrupt the industry’s extensive supply chain and lower demand if the U.S. dips into a recession.

Boeing, which declined to comment on Tuesday, previously said it will have some cushion to soften the immediate blow of the tariffs.

Boeing has a large inventory of airplane parts and a large backlog of airplane orders, giving its suppliers and customers room to adapt if needed, Chief Financial Officer Brian West said at a Bank of America conference last month.

“If a customer needed some flexibility because of some decisions that they were making, we can move around in a big backlog and try to accommodate best we can,” West said. “So, we think we’ve got enough room to breathe.”

China is a key market for Boeing but the country scaled back its orders after Trump imposed tariffs during his first administration and two deadly 737 Max crashes in 2018 and 2019. Still, a long-term decision to halt Boeing deliveries to China’s airlines could impact dozens of unfilled orders.

China has 130 unfilled orders on Boeing’s books, according to a list on the airplane manufacturer’s website. But analysts suspect that number is higher because a chunk of the 762 unfilled orders listed for unidentified customers are also likely headed to China.

Of the 130 planes Boeing delivered to customers so far this year, 18 went to China, according to Boeing’s website.

Boeing’s stock dropped 2.3% on Tuesday following the news reports.

Also on Tuesday, China Southern, one of the country’s main airlines, suspended the sale of 10 used Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, according to a separate Bloomberg report. That decision, also prompted by the tariffs, indicated a rippling effect of the trade war beyond just the purchase of new goods, Bloomberg reported.

  • How Warriors plan to combat Houston’s rough style in 2025 NBA playoffs

SAN FRANCISCO – One does not have to look far to find reasons for the Warriors to have bad blood with the upstart Rockets during the team’s first-round Western Conference playoff series that starts in Houston on Sunday.

As a member of the Grizzlies, Houston wing Dillon Brooks unleashed a flagrant foul that broke Gary Payton II’s elbow during Golden State’s championship run in 2022.

Warriors forward Draymond Green infamously kicked Steven Adams in the ground during the 2016 playoffs when the center was playing with Oklahoma City, and Rockets coach Ime Udoka recently was seen talking trash with Steph Curry during the teams’ April matchup.

So it is no surprise that staying cool and collected was a major point of emphasis for the seventh seeded Golden State.

On Friday morning at Chase Center, longtime coach Steve Kerr said the much needed four-day rest between Tuesday’s play-in win over Memphis and the Sunday showdown in Texas will help the team abide by that mandate.

“The rest and preparation that’s going into this, I think that will helps us be composed and poised, because that’s what it takes in the playoffs,” Kerr said.

Saying it might be easier than doing it considering the way Houston – fourth in defensive rating (110.8) and tops in offensive rebounding per game (14.6) – approaches the game against a team it held to under 100 points in 3-of-5 matchups.

Kerr invoked the names of fellow coaching greats Pat Riley and Chuck Daly when discussing how his opponent plays.

The Rockets had no problem grabbing, holding and daring the officials to bog the game down with whistles when they beat the Warriors 106-96 on April 6. It is a tactic those legendary coaches did not hesitate to employ during Kerr’s playing days during the 1990s, and a play-style that has once again become more prevalent in 2025.

Officials called only 18.6 fouls per game, the lowest in NBA history. Houston was whistled for just 19 a game, while the Warriors were a smidge over at 19.2 a night.

“The game, this year in general, is more physical,” Kerr said. “They’re letting more stuff go, and that’s all part of the equation. It’s not anything we worry about or talk about.”

The Rockets’ gameplan of sticking the uber-athlete Amen Thompson onto Curry and having the San Leandro native play tight man-to-man on- and off-ball contributed to the Warriors superstar shooting just 1-of-10 and scoring three points.

  • Capcom Fighting Collection 2 developers discuss why they can’t and don’t include every version of a game in their compilations

We’re now just under a month away from the release of the Capcom Fighting Collection 2, which is set to revive eight classic fighting games on modern systems for the first time.

Japanese publication Famitsu recently interviewed Street Fighter 6 Producer Shuhei Matsumoto about the Capcom Fighting Collection 2, which we’ve now translated thanks to our own Nicholas ‘MajinTenshinhan’ Taylor.

We previously covered Matsumoto’s statements about how the Capcom Fighting Collections even came to be, but there’s still plenty more to dig into from their discussion.

One question in particular came up that most fans have probably asked at one point or another being why isn’t this or that version of the game included in these collections?

Well now we have a bit of an answer to that.

Famitsu: Since you’ve already gone this far, I was thinking “I want to be able to play every version of these games!”, but I suppose the cost and return incentive for that might not be viable.

Matsumoto: For Capcom vs. SNK 2, the play experience changes based on the version since there’s the arcade version and the “EO version” which was only on home consoles, so we added the option to switch between versions for that.

However, when it comes to coding that for every game, for some games those circuit boards may not even exist anymore, and it can even be hard to figure out what exactly was done between version changes so to be honest, it’d be difficult to actually do that. So with that in mind, we’ve tried to focus on the versions that had the highest amount of players enjoying them.

While it is nice to finally have some sort of explanation regarding the matter, this still doesn’t seem to cover everything that’s missing.

Why are we getting Capcom vs. SNK Pro, but not the original release for example.

There’s also the question of why the Capcom Fighting Collection 2 has Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper but not the even more complete version, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max.

The latter likely has to do with the new collection being focused around Naomi arcade hardware games, but at the same time, they included Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO, which was a console game.

Ultimately, it likely boils down to technical restrictions of creating a new emulator for something like Alpha 3 Max as well as planning the scope of a particular project.

That doesn’t mean it’s impossible to see different versions of the games in these collections, however.

The Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection received a sizable title update this week that added a bunch of stuff including the crazier version of X-Men vs. Street Fighter that fans had been clamoring for.

The Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is set to release on May 16 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
