    THE JOB AT A GLANCE

    • You conduct research and analysis to enable the customer marketing team to deliver competition beating commercial propositions. You review and interpret sales in and sales out data sets in order to validate the category management approaches recommended to customers and to spot new opportunities in the market which will help increase the profitability and penetration of the Tiger basket. With one eye on the past performance of customer marketing activities and one on future sources of growth and profitability, you help make our customer marketing capability a strategic differentiator.

    Responsibilities

    WHAT YOU WILL DO

    • Gather, cleanse, and integrate EPOS data, converting the information into insight for the customer marketing managers

    • Analyse information sources available to the team (Nielsen, Dunnhumby etc.) and identify opportunities for shopper marketing and category management improvements

    • Interpret ranging reports and make recommendations to support category management activities delivered by the customer marketing managers (this includes pricing, sales, competitor reports). These should confirm alignment of channel strategy with the portfolio strategy

    • Review merchandising standards across channels in order to spot opportunities for improvement

    • Monitor implementation of shopper plans in order to develop a common understanding within the team of what excellent activation looks like

    • Present measurements and analysis to customers (trade) when required as part of joint business planning or regular customer meetings

    • Look to develop tools and processes that help support customer teams to understand, share, and efficiently use the data they are provided with (report structures and call outs, systems to support space planning activities)

  • Swarm of bees attacks and k!lls farmer, injure two others in Osun farm

    A farmer identified as Abideen Olabiyi was reportedly k!lled by a swarm of bees in his farm at Alalade Compound in Ada, Osun State,

     

    Two other persons sustained serious injuries in the attack which occurred on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Olobe Farm in Igbajo, Boluwaduro Local Government Area of the state. 

     

    The Otan Ayegbaju Police Division confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday.

     

    According to the police, the injured individuals have been identified as Mr Solomon Kingsley and Chief Olusegun Alalade, who, like the deceased, are residents of the Alalade Compound.

     

     A police report stated that the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the Healthy Paradise Mortuary, Ikirun, for autopsy.

     

    The report reads in part: “Today Friday 18 at about 1645 HRS there was a complaint from one Babasanjo Alalade of Alalade compound Ada Osun State. He stated that today three of his brothers went to farm one Abideen Olabiyi, Mr Solomon Kingsley and Chief Olusegun Alalade all of Alalade compound Ada went to the farm in Olobe Farm Igbajo. 

     

    “On getting to the farm they were attacked by bunch of bees and as a result Mr Abideen Olabiyi lost his life while the other two victims manage to escape with their lives detectives mine visited the scene photograph taken corps removed and deposited at Healthy Paradise Mortuary Ikirun for autopsy while the other two victims were rushed to undisclosed hospital in the state.”

  • Edo PDP leadership dispute deepens as caretaker committee rejects Orbih’s secretariat donation

    Tensions within the Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) escalated on Thursday as the party’s Caretaker Committee, led by Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, firmly rejected a recent donation of a party secretariat by Chief Dan Orbih, describing the gesture as a politically motivated ploy to destabilise the party ahead of crucial elections.

    The drama unfolded after Orbih, a former South-South Zonal Chairman of the PDP, announced the donation of a new secretariat in Benin City on Wednesday. During the unveiling, Orbih warned the Aziegbemi-led committee to cease parading themselves as the legitimate leaders of the PDP in Edo State.

    He accused them of colluding with former Governor Godwin Obaseki to undermine and destroy the party from within.

    In a swift rebuttal, Aziegbemi released a strongly-worded statement dismissing Orbih’s claims and asserting that Orbih was no longer a member of the PDP. According to the committee, Orbih’s tenure officially ended on March 9, 2025, with the emergence of Chief Emma Ogidi as the new zonal leader.

    “We are compelled to respond to the Nollywood-style theatrics orchestrated by Chief Dan Orbih only because of the numerous calls and inquiries we have received,” the statement read. “Let it be made abundantly clear that Chief Dan Orbih is no longer a member of the Peoples Democratic Party. He lacks the authority and standing to rent, donate, or assign any property to the Edo PDP.”

    The committee went further to allege that the secretariat Orbih claimed to donate was not only unauthorised but linked to the opposition. “The so-called secretariat he claimed to have donated is a façade. It belongs to the party he now openly serves—the APC-led government in Edo State—where he is nothing more than a political employee,” Aziegbemi alleged.

    While Orbih has not publicly responded to the caretaker committee’s rejection of his donation, his supporters maintain that his actions stem from a desire to restore integrity and stability to the party amid growing internal rifts.

    Party insiders say the latest confrontation signals deeper fractures within the Edo PDP, which has seen recurring tensions between factions loyal to Orbih and those aligned with Governor Obaseki, particularly in the aftermath of the governor’s defection from the APC to the PDP in 2020.

    Despite the unfolding conflict, Aziegbemi urged party faithful to remain calm and focused.

    “We urge PDP members to disregard the antics of Dan Orbih and not be distracted. Reclaiming our mandate remains our focus,” he said. “The Edo PDP Caretaker Committee remains united, focused, and fully in charge of the party’s affairs.”

    Whilst a top-half finish is still mathematically possible, Ruben Amorim is surely turning his attention to the Europa League with so much riding on lifting the trophy.

    A victory in Europe would not only bring extra funds to the club, but would also see United qualify for the Champions League and bring an extra £100 million in income from the prestigious tournament.

    With United’s dramatic 5-4 win over Lyon only taking place three days ago, it’s expected that some of Amorim’s star players who battled it out on Thursday night could have a break today, giving some of the United youngsters a runout.

    Throughout the season, Amorim has had to rely on his youngsters, with the club’s financial struggles preventing any big-name reinforcements in the winter transfer window.

    Upon arrival from Sporting Lisbon, Amorim was made aware by the United hierarchy that the priority was to focus on developing the existing potential in the youth academy and utilising the newly signed young talent.

    It’s fair to say that on this front Amorim hasn’t disappointed, with Toby Collyer getting regular appearances, Chido Obi and Harry Amass getting their debuts, plus Leny Yoro, Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven becoming regulars on the pitch when able.

    The Portuguese manager has also had his talented youngsters in first-team training, with the likes of Godwill Kukonki, Jack Moorhouse, Tyler Fredricson and Elyh Harrison routinely sitting on the bench.

    Tyler Fredricson set to make his senior debut

    Now, CentreDevils can reveal that barring any last minute changes todays clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers will see youngster Tyler Fredricson get his senior debut.

    The 20-year-old centre-back is poised to start the game, with Amorim turning to the youngster as United face a tough end of the season.

    Lisandro Martinez has been ruled out injured with an ACL tear since February, whilst Ayden Heaven received a set back to his recovery in training, being stretchered off the training pitch at Carrington.

    Adding to these struggles, Victor Lindelof and Noussair Mazraoui had to leave the Quarter-Final clash with Lyon early on Thursday due to unconnected and unknown personal reasons.

    As such, barring and set backs, Fredricson will be stepping out at Old Trafford this afternoon as part of Amorim’s back three.

  • Group Accuses Bayelsa Govt Of Sponsoring Calumny Against NDDC MD

    The Niger Delta Movement for Peace (NDMP) has accused the Bayelsa State Government of sponsoring and bankrolling campaigns of calumny against Dr Samuel Ogbuku, the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

    In a statement signed by its Coordinator, Jacob Sontai, the group claimed that the Bayelsa government is behind recent falsehoods alleging that Ogbuku is sponsoring the activities of the New Associates in the state.

    The NDMP described these allegations as baseless and part of a deliberate attempt to tarnish Ogbuku’s reputation.

    Sontai said the government bankrolled a group, which identified itself as the Niger Delta Peace Ambassadors (NDOPA) led by one Bassey Patrick, to make the allegation.

    Sontai said the allegation was false in its entirety and challenged the Bayelsa government to provide credible material evidence to prove the allegation.

    He explained that the New Associates is a political movement formed by friends and associates of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Chief Nyesom Wike, to highlight the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu across the country as a basis for drumming and mobilising support for his reelection in 2027.

    Sontai said the New Associates had become unstoppable as it was gaining momentum in various states of the federation and were beyond the sponsorship of any individual.

    He said, “Therefore, it is an absolute falsehood for the Bayelsa State Government to link the Managing Director of the NDDC to the movement. It is even preposterous to claim that Ogbuku was in cahoots with anybody to destabilise Bayelsa.

    “Well, we are not surprised, as this is not the first time the government of Bayelsa State has tried to paint Ogbuku in a bad light. The question is: what are they afraid of? Ogbuku remains a beacon of hope to the younger generation, and no amount of blackmail will deter young people from supporting him.

    “How can Ogbuku, who has been instrumental to the development of Bayelsa, including lighting up the state that had been in darkness for months, turn around to work for the destabilisation of the same state?

    “The Bayelsa State Government should leave Ogbuku out of its ill-conceived and self-centred war against the New Associates. The truth is that the Douye Diri-led state government is working against the second-term ambition of President Tinubu because of Diri’s vice-presidential interest in 2027.

    “As part of promoting Diri’s vice-presidential ambition, the Bayelsa government is ready to shoot down any group drumming support for President Tinubu’s second term in office.”

    But Sontai said Diri was fighting a lost battle and wasting the state’s resources sponsoring an agenda that was dead on arrival.

    Sontai said, “The truth is that the New Associates had come to stay and will campaign and promote President Tinubu’s second term ambition in Bayelsa because it is part of the group’s constitutional right. The group will massively mobilise for President Tinubu and ensure he wins the forthcoming election. The NEW Associates are equal to the task.”

    Christ is Risen!

    I wholeheartedly greet all of you, God-loving archpastors and pastors, devout monks and nuns, dear brothers and sisters, on our greatest Christian Feast of the Resurrection of our Lord, God, and Saviour Jesus Christ!

    The Resurrection of Christ is a most glorious, sacred event, through which God returned the lost Paradise to mankind; it is the event through which the Love of God destroyed hell and deprived death of its power. Through His Resurrection, Christ the Saviour again bestowed upon mankind the lost gift of eternal life and bliss.

    By wonderful paths, unsearchable for human mind, the Love of God takes on human nature and comes to earth so as to defeat the all-human malice and sin.

    The God-Man Christ takes on our sins and is wilfully crucified for them on the Cross as Man. On the Cross, Christ the Saviour tears the handwriting of human sins and frees mankind from the power of the devil, takes mankind away from his hands. And when the God-Man Christ died on the Cross as Man and descended into hell, the Godhead, Which had united with human nature forever in Christ, also descended into hell. With its splendour, the Godhead slew hell (Resurrectional Troparion, tone 2). The Godhead raised up the human nature of the Saviour and led the souls of all the righteous, who had lived on earth by faith in the Coming Christ, out of hell.

    The Resurrection of Christ became the greatest triumph of the victory of life over death.

    The word about Christ Crucified and Risen was proclaimed all over the world. The Holy Apostles, sincere disciples and followers of Christ, who were witnesses of the teaching, wonders, sufferings, and Resurrection of Christ, dispersed over the entire world so as to proclaim and testify about the Bright and invincible Resurrection of their great Teacher and Lord, Who trampled down our death by His death and upon those in the tombs bestowed life by His Resurrection (Troparion of Holy Pascha). The word about the Risen Christ was powerful and mighty, it transformed the world; it freed mankind from fear, distress, and despair, and embraced human sufferings, sorrows, and pain with the warmth of bright hope. The word about the Risen Christ taught people to build their earthly lives correctly — so that the will, truth, and love of God may reign in them.

    Today, we joyfully celebrate and prayerfully glorify the Bright Resurrection of Christ, the Great Victory of good over evil, which has been bestowed upon us by our Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ. We share this sacred joy with one another and with all people of good will. We, as Christians, bear witness of and ought to bear witness of the Resurrection of Christ not only with our words but also with our lives.

    What does it mean to bear witness of the Risen Christ with one’s life?

    If a Christian lives godly, that is, lives according to the commandments of Christ, he becomes a fountain of clean, living water of the grace of God, which springs up into everlasting life (John 4:14). Like the sky is reflected in an ordinary clean spring, says Saint Theophan the Recluse, Christ is reflected in the pure life of a Christian who lives according to the word of Christ. Those people who do not want to or cannot lift their reasonable eyes to Heaven can see in the Heavenly glory the Risen Christ Who is, Who is reflected in the pure life of a devout Christian, and thus get a good opportunity to change their vain lives into bright and joyful lives in Christ.

    Let us too, dear brothers and sisters, join those Christians who today testify to the world about the incorruptible beauty, greatness, and saving power of the Resurrection of Christ with their God-pleasing lives. Let us build our lives in such a way that the Name of God, Who is great and glorious in His works, may be hallowed and glorified in them; of the Maker of Heaven and earth; of God, Who because of His infinite love descended from Heaven to earth so as to raise us from earth to Heaven (Akathist to the Saviour, kontakion 8).

    I once again greet all of you, dear brothers and sisters, on the Great Feast of Pascha of Christ, on the Feast of the Bright Resurrection of Christ! May the Risen Christ fill our hearts with bright hope for salvation and the joy of His great Victory over the forces of evil. May the Risen Christ pacify the malice of those who are waging war against us and bless us with peace.

    THE JOB AT A GLANCE

    • A crucial team member of the Tiger Innovation Process (TIP), you are responsible for coordinating and facilitating R&D lead projects from conception through to launch, ensuring that the TIP is adhered to by all stakeholders. Effective management of project timelines and communication to the project team is crucial including creation of the relevant reports, status updates, completion and approval of appropriate Gate documentation.

    Responsibilities

    WHAT YOU WILL DO

    • Support the Project Lead by coordinating, chairing, and facilitating all project level meetings (brainstorming sessions, scoping sessions, status updates, and other project meetings). Send out meeting requests, Coordinate and schedule project meetings, including preparing agendas and meeting minutes, distribute pre-readings etc.

    • Develop and distribute critical path schedule – Determine tasks, timelines, milestones and interdependencies between different work streams ensuring resource is optimally allocated

    • Management by exception, you will be responsible for following due governance process to ensure that the project runs on time, escalating challenges to the appropriate decision makers including NPD Managers, Category Leads, Supply Chain, Marketing, etc.

    • Manage changes to project scope and schedule by adjusting critical path schedule (CPS) and work breakdown structure to bring the project back on track. 

    • Revise the selected course of action and provide regular updates to project team members on upcoming tasks, deadlines, dependencies, and reports to be performed in order to ensure that the project runs on track

    • Management of TIP templates and project specific documentation. Ensuring that the relevant documentation is correctly completed and centrally filed for each phase of the project.

    • Complete all necessary reports for the project and documentation (e.g. documentation dashboard, project registers, status reports, etc.) within category

    • Ensure that Project management disciplines are in place and are regularly updated (e.g. project prioritisation, RAID log, Change log, etc.)

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

    • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), including project management principles, software and tools (e.g. Microsoft Project)

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

    • Basic knowledge of food safety and quality regulations

    • Project Management Professional certification or equivalent

    • Experience with sensory evaluation and consumer testing

  • Osun varsity student electrocuted while charging and using his phone during thunderstorm

    A 100-level student of University of Ilesa, Osun State, Gbolahan Ojolo, has d!ed of electrocution triggered by lightning strike in his hall of residence in Ilesa.

     

    It was gathered that Ojolo, a student in the Department of Business Administration, was charging his phone and playing a game on it at the same time when thunder struck on Friday, April 18, 2025.

     

    The Registrar of the University, Funso Ojo, confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday, April 19, 2025.

     

    “The Management of the University of Ilesa, Osun State, deeply regrets to announce the tragic and untimely d3ath of one of its students, Gbolahan Ojolo, a 100 Level student of the Department of Business Administration,” the statement read.

     

    “The unfortunate incident occurred in the evening of Friday, April 18, 2025. Gbolahan was electrocuted while playing a game on his mobile phone, which was being charged in his room at a private hostel located near the Prototype Engineering Development Institute junction. The electrocution was reportedly triggered by a lightning strike during a thunderstorm.”

     

    The Registrar said the management had informed the police, and after due clearance had been obtained, the remains of the deceased were taken to the morgue of the Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa.

     

    “The police have since commenced a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

     

    “The University of Ilesa has also made necessary arrangements to support the family during this moment of intense grief and will continue to stand by them through this difficult time.

     

    “The entire University community mourns this painful loss and prays for the repose of Gbolahan’s soul. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, classmates, and the Department of Business Administration.”
