  • North will unveil position on 2027 presidency in six months. No one can win without the North — Tinubu’s ex-aide, Baba-Ahmed

Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, former Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Bola Tinubu, has declared that the North will soon decide its political direction ahead of the 2027 general elections, asserting that no presidential candidate can win without the region’s support.

In an interview that went viral on social media on Sunday, April 20, Baba-Ahmed emphasized the growing political awareness in the North and the region’s refusal to back candidates who fail to understand or address its challenges.

Appearing alongside Professor Usman Yusuf, former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Baba-Ahmed highlighted the impact of insecurity, particularly the devastation caused by Boko Haram, and stressed that northerners will no longer support leadership that ignores their plight. He said the North is tired of being marginalised and warned of serious consequences if such neglect continues.

“If they plan to rig the election, they should be careful. It won’t be good for Nigeria,” Baba-Ahmed warned, as he urged northerners to reject divisive and deceptive politicians. He also declared that within the next six months, the North would make its political position known, and the rest of the country would have to either align with it or go their own way.

Baba-Ahmed, who previously served as spokesperson for the Arewa Elders Forum before joining the presidency and later resigning, stated his commitment to rejoining the movement for northern emancipation. He stressed the importance of unity among all groups in the region — Muslims, Christians, Fulani, Baju, and Mangu — and warned against internal betrayal.

Reflecting on past challenges, including the era of Boko Haram attacks during former President Muhammadu Buhari’s campaigns, he recalled how both churches and mosques were targeted to destabilise the region. He said the North, having endured hardship under past and present administrations, has become more politically conscious and will demand leadership that genuinely understands its needs.

“The injustice and sidelining must stop,” he said. “The North is watching, and soon, our elders, our masses, and our interest groups will say ‘enough is enough.’” Baba-Ahmed issued a stern warning ahead of the 2027 elections, cautioning that any attempt to manipulate the process could have severe consequences. “Conducting a bad election in 2027 may lead to the end of Nigeria, I swear to God,” he said.

He concluded by affirming that northern elders and stakeholders are preparing to take a stand, and the time to act is fast approaching. “There will be a time we will come out and say it’s okay, and it’s soon. This injustice is over. We know who we are.

The answers for today’s Strands were pretty straightforward. I started off with the first set of theme words – DUET and DANCER. Once I spotted VARIETY, solving the Spangram and the rest of theme words was an easy affair.

What is NYT Strands Spangram and How Does It Work?

Every NYT Strands puzzle consists of a unique word or phrase that’s called the Spangram. This word or set of words will run the length of two opposite sides of the grid. One thing to note here is that, a Spangram doesn’t necessarily have to originate or end at the edge of the grid.

In its essence, the Spangram is kind of like a bigger hint that sums up today’s Strands theme in just a word or two. Since it spans across two sides of the puzzle, solving it early helps you figure out the rest of the theme words and vice versa.

Tips and Tricks for Mastering NYT Strands Puzzles

Solving an NYT Strands puzzle successfully isn’t that hard in itself, but in some cases, the approach might not be as straightforward as it looks. So, here are simple tips and tricks that we suggest you follow to crack the theme words and Spangram for Strands puzzles:

    • Always start at the corners: No two puzzles are the same. But the chances of the Spangram extending to a diagonal form are quite low. So, the best strategy is to find and decrypt relevant words that are at the corners of the grid.
    • Don’t be ashamed to get hints: Sometimes, a theme word could be all you need to solve the entire puzzle. If that requires getting a hint using non-theme words, then that’s the first thing you should do. After all, the point is to have fun and figure this out, like all of us.
    • Think both literally and figuratively: Not all themes may land you in the same sense of thought. Some puzzles may welcome more clever answers that may convey something totally different from their actual meaning.
    • Aim for the Spangram: The Spangram is what splits the Strands board in half. So, figuring it out will help you cross out other potential approaches for a theme. Deciphering even half of the Spangram can get you close to the rest of the answers.

  • Bush-Era Swamp Creature Revealed To Be Key Figure In OKC Bombing Coverup

Bush-Era Swamp Creature Revealed To Be Key Figure In OKC Bombing Coverup

At the heart of a high profile cover-up: the Oklahoma City bombing

(ZH) – “As I have always said:  The only difference between the KGB and the FBI is that the KGB has never claimed to be a legitimate law enforcement agency.” ~ Jesse Trentadue

Readers may know the name John Ashcroft, attorney general under George W. Bush.

Well, good old Ashcroft was at the heart of a high profile cover-up: the Oklahoma City bombing, according to attorney Jesse Trentadue. The following comes from a court filing provided to ZeroHedge by Trentadue, attorney to OKC bombing accomplice Terry Nichols.

For context (per Jesse from kennethtrentadue.com): Jesse is the brother of Kenneth Michael Trentadue who died in August 1995, while incarcerated at the Federal Transfer Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Following the death, the Department of Justice (DOJ) immediately deemed it a suicide, denied the medical examiner access to the cell where Kenneth Trentadue was killed, ordered the cell cleaned and painted, and repeatedly asked both the medical examiner and Kenneth Trentadue’s family to authorize the cremation of his body. The medical examiner could not legally authorize cremation and the family refused, demanding that Kenneth’s body be returned to them. When Trentadue’s body was returned to the family, they removed heavy makeup and discovered bruises all over his body, from head to foot. The bruises, cuts, and other wounds depicted an obvious beating and murder.

    Now for the story…

While serving his prison sentence, Nichols attempted to spark an investigation into FBI involvement in the OKC bombing. He sent a letter stating that he could provide such information to the then head of the DOJ Ashcroft.

Ashcroft did not respond to the letter but immediately forbade the media from speaking to Nichols, which resulted in 60 Minutes cancelling a sit-down interview they had scheduled with Nichols, says Trentadue. Shortly thereafter, Nichols said he received a visit from a man presenting an offer from the DOJ to undo Nichols’ death sentence if he agreed to three conditions:

    • Take ownership of an anonymous warning the DOJ received saying the Murrah Building was bombed 30 minutes before it actually had been.
    • Implicate Nichols’ own brother in the bombing plot.
    • Reveal the location of the “Kinestick”, an explosive used in the bombing. Nichols mentioned having knowledge of an unused stache in his letter to Ashcroft. The existence of a remaining stache was not known at the time.

The existence of the mysterious call was independently corroborated in Stephen Jones’ book Others Unknown and even covered by ABC News:

It was discovered that the DOJ proxy (Michael Selby) who visited Nichols previously worked in Ashcroft’s private security detail. Trentadue helped to further corroborate that this meeting took place by telling ZH:

After the declaration was filed, Selby called me upset as hell.  Said that I had just got him “fucking killed.”  The attorney who brought Selby into meet Nichols is Rodney Uphoff.  A law professor at the University of Missouri.  I called Uphoff and he confirmed the event.

It is strange that such an offer – giving leniency to an accomplice to one of the most horrific domestic terrorist attacks in U.S. history – would be presented by someone who does not work at the DOJ and stipulate that Nichol take credit for an anonymous tip which he did not make.

Nichols ultimately did not accept the deal because he did not want to throw his brother under the bus.

The story, now part of official record thanks to Trentadue, serves as an interesting look into the true conspiracies that Ashcroft may have had a hand in.

To see the full spectrum of official documents that Jesse Trentadue has fought hard to force the government to release, follow his website named in honor of his brother who he believes was murdered by the FBI:

And for a great interview where Trentadue discusses the contents of this article and more, listen to friend-of-ZeroHedge Scott Horton interview Jesse just last month.

As for Ashcroft, after ‘retiring’ he started a private lobbying firm that quickly secured the Israeli government as its first client.

  • Ukrainian soldiers who were surrounded by Russians held out for 35 freezing days

This article was originally published by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and is reprinted with permission.

A Ukrainian commander whose unit held off daily Russian assaults while trapped in freezing ruins for more than a month says his team held on by finding strength they never knew they had.

Bohdan Kushnir had intended to make a brief inspection visit of the National Police Brigade’s position on Ukraine’s eastern front in Toretsk. But Kushnir and six other soldiers soon found themselves under Russian fire, with exits cut off.

The Ukrainians were often close enough to their enemy to shout taunts back and forth, while comrades with surveillance drones helped out by disclosing Russian positions to the pinned-down troops.

After three weeks, three of the seven Ukrainians were wounded and some fell ill amid freezing February temperatures. Nonetheless, they managed to continue firing from a home with crumbling walls and blown-out windows and doors.

As Kushhir recalled in an interview with RFE/RL, “You have a gun in your hand, and you are trying to survive, using all your instincts to save your unit.”

The Donetsk region city has been the focus of intense fighting for months, with Russians claiming control while Ukrainian forces reject the claim. The Russian forces nearby, including those fighting for control of Pokrovsk, have been beefed up, but advances have been slow and costly.

Much of Toretsk now lies in ruins, with little cover for troops engaged in intense urban combat.

Such conditions test soldiers’ resolve, according to Kushnir.

“I don’t consider myself a tough person, but sometimes you have to act like you never would in civilian life.”

He described the Russian units trying to take over the Ukrainian position as determined, if not effective.

“It was audacious,” Kushnir said. “Those weren’t just some random attackers. They would start at 5 a.m., and even if they couldn’t get through, they would be looking for another entry point until 5 p.m.”

He managed to film close-quarters shootouts in which each side is making audible shouts at each other. And while some Russians were apparently talked into surrendering, none was willing to return to a safer position.

“The group in this video wouldn’t retreat at all,” Kushnir said. “They all just died there.”

In early March, the Ukrainian forces were finally evacuated in armored vehicles, cheering as they rejoined their comrades to the west.

  • Warriors focus in on details for playoff series vs. Rockets

HOUSTON – The Warriors have heard all about the Houston Rockets’ plan to make their first-round Western Conference playoff series a physical grind.

The Rockets have made no secret that they intend to make Golden State fight for every dribble and inch of space during a best-of-seven matchup that begins in Texas on Easter Sunday.

Golden State (48-34) is the No. 7 seed, while Houston (52-30) is the No. 2 seed and beat the Warriors three out of the five times they met during the regular season.

With known Warriors foils such as Dillon Brooks, Alperen Sengun and Fred VanVleet on the other side, Golden State’s veterans have repeatedly said that maintaining a level head is a key to success in the series.

“It’s money time and it’s the playoffs, so you have to lock in,” Gary Payton II said. “We have a lot of guys that have been in these situations with the playoffs, so we need to follow their lead, stay composed and not get too hyped up.”

Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Kevon Looney were part of the dynastic Warriors teams that beat Houston in four playoff series between 2015 and 2019.

While Payton was not around for those storied series, he still has a tested strategy for maintaining his cool if heated moments arise during the series.

“Smile, just smile and be grateful for these types of moments,” Payton II said. “Have fun with them, and at the end of the day, it’s just basketball, but its meaningful basketball, so that’s the best part about it.”

The Warriors stressed the importance of hitting the glass, since Houston led the league in both total rebounds (48.5 per game) and offensive boards (14.6).

Much of that can be credited to having the 6-foot-11 twin-tower lineup of Alperen Sengun and Steven Adams under the rim, along with 6-foot-7 freak athlete Amen Thompson, who is capable of flying above the pack.

Moses Moody said that the Warriors’ perimeter players – not just bigs Green, Looney and Quinten Post – will need to put in work on the glass for the Warriors to be effective.
