  • Two key signings confirmed for Manchester United this summer

Manchester United are in desperate need of a rebuild this summer after a truly disastrous season in the Premier League.

United currently sit in 14th place as The Red Devils lost again on the weekend to now 15th place Wolverhampton Wanderers.

With the club failing to get results across all tournaments, with the Europa League seemingly the only exception, Ruben Amorim is in dire need of new talent at Old Trafford if he has any hopes of improvement next season.

Manchester United look to replace Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund

Now, Manchester Evening News has confirmed that The Red Devils are prioritising signing a new goalkeeper and a new striker.

This news isn’t overly surprising with significant reports arising of replacements being shortlisted to upgrade from Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund.

Onana has had an incredibly problematic season, leading the pack of Premier League goalkeepers for the most mistakes resulting in an opposition goal.

At the other end of the pitch, Hojlund has been exceptionally disappointing, failing to show consistency in front of goal, even going 21 consecutive games without hitting the back of the net.

As such, the pair are expected to be sold off in the summer to make way for new blood.

In goal, United have identified the likes of Bart Verbruggen of Brighton, Parma star Zion Suzuki and Porto shot-stopper Diogo Costa to replace Onana over the coming months.

Meanwhile, United have shortlisted Ipswich’s Liam Delap and Wolves’ Matheus Cunha as potential upgrades for Rasmus Hojlund.

It’s also been reported that Victor Osimhen has already agreed terms to move to Old Trafford in the summer, with the in-form striker highly sought after across Europe.

In a powerful demonstration of his unwavering commitment to faith, community, and development, the Executive Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Apostle Senator Prince Bassey Otu, laid foundation to the construction of the New Duke Town Cathedral Annex in Calabar.

Represented by his amiable Chief of Staff, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar, the governor’s presence was deeply felt as he led the foundation-laying ceremony with grace and purpose. Accompanying Hon. Ironbar was his beloved wife,  Elder (Dr) Mrs Virginia Ironbar, whose elegance and spiritual presence added to the significance of the occasion, Chairmen of Councils, House of Assembly member, Commissioner, SSA’s and other government figures in the State.

The event marks a significant milestone not just for the Christian community in Calabar, but for the entire state, as it reflects the governor’s vision of promoting spiritual growth alongside infrastructural and economic development.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar emphasized the governor’s strong Christian values, noting that “His Excellency Apostle Sen. Prince Otu is a man of deep faith, a lover of God, and a dedicated supporter of the gospel mission in Cross River State and beyond.” He assured the congregation that the Governor remains committed to uplifting and empowering faith-based initiatives that contribute positively to the society, while thanking the church for their ceaseless supports, prayers and all.

The new structure will provide an expanded space for worship, community outreach, and spiritual empowerment.

His Eminence, the Prelate of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria in his remarks, expressed joy and appreciation for the Governor’s gesture, praising his leadership for prioritizing spiritual development as a foundation for peace and progress.

With the laying of this foundation stone, Gov. Otu has once again demonstrated that leadership rooted in faith, service, and compassion can transform lives and uplift commitments.

  • Footage surfaces of Starmer with gay Labour Peer, Lord Alli

ER Editor: The curious relationship between Keir Starmer and the wealthy, Muslim and overtly gay Labour peer, Lord Waheed Alli, came out last year as it was revealed Starmer had spent a number of weeks, with his family, staying in Alli’s central London penthouse, doing broadcasts from there while pretending not to. There were other instances of Alli’s largesse toward Starmer, which did not sit well with the public. The official excuse given for staying chez Alli was that one of his boys had his school exams to study for, yet the timing is suspicious. This article comes from September 2024 (see also The Guardian) —

Keir Starmer accepted £20,000 of accommodation to help his son study for GCSEs

We firmly believe Starmer is 2.0 and this is a scenario playing out to reveal actual truths about the man who was infamously and conveniently around when prolific pedophile Jimmy Savile needed thoroughly investigating. Starmer, as the head of Crown Prosecutions at the time, did not do this, needless to say. Savile got off scot-free until he died.

Here’s a tweet on this, which reminds us not only of Savile’s activities, but the cover-up of Pakistani rape gangs in general

Here is Baron Waheed Alli’s Wikipedia page, indicating that this is likely to link back to Ghislaine Maxwell’s father, Robert Maxwell, somehow.

On the topic of ethnicities and cultures, we believe Starmer’s wife is Jewish as per The Times of Israel.

This topic gets to break over Easter weekend. Hmm.

This is a useful overview in the absence of a written article (16 minutes) —

This from white-hat friendly journalist, Jim Ferguson from Saturday —

Allegedly, the footage of Alli with Starmer, which seems a bit too convenient and staged —

  • Why Nigerians Are Losing Money To Fraudulent Investment Schemes—Experts

Financial and investment experts have blamed the growing number of fraudulent investment schemes in Nigeria on a toxic mix of greed, financial illiteracy, and disregard for due diligence.

The warning follows the collapse of the unregulated digital investment platform, Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX), which left many investors facing devastating losses.

In separate interviews with THE WHISTLER, the experts expressed concern that despite numerous awareness campaigns and previous high-profile cases, Nigerians continue to fall victim to Ponzi-style operations due to the temptation of quick, unrealistic financial returns.

Managing Director of Arthur Steven Asset Management and former president of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS), Mr. Olatunde Amolegbe noted that investors often neglect regulated financial channels in favor of informal alternatives that promise fast profits.

“Many people are losing their money simply because they don’t take the time to verify the legitimacy of investment opportunities,” Amolegbe said.

“The public must realize that regulatory agencies like the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) exist to protect them.”

He urged Nigerians to conduct basic due diligence before parting with their money.

“Before depositing funds with any company, verify on the CBN’s website if it is licensed to collect funds. If it’s about buying stocks, mutual funds, or any capital market instruments, confirm the company’s registration with the SEC,” he added.

According to Amolegbe, many of the digital assets being promoted across various platforms today are not under the oversight of any regulatory body, leaving investors with no recourse when these schemes collapse, as seen in the case of CBEX.

Adding another perspective, Dr. Femi Ademola, Managing Director of AIICO Capital and a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), emphasized that greed and the pursuit of high-yield returns without commensurate risk assessment are key drivers of the Ponzi scheme phenomenon.

“Ponzi schemes are not new, and neither is their downfall,” Ademola said. “What’s concerning is how people repeatedly fall for them, ignoring basic principles of investment. These schemes thrive by offering overly attractive returns that are not grounded in real economic activity.”

He advised investors to align their investments with their risk profiles. “Low- to medium-risk investors should avoid anything promising extraordinarily high returns. Such offers are red flags. Anyone chasing high returns must be willing to accept the possibility of total loss,” he warned.

    Mr Tunde Amolegbe
    Mr Tunde Amolegbe

Also, Mr. David Adonri, Managing Director of HighCap Securities, called for tougher legal consequences—not just for the fraudsters behind Ponzi schemes, but also for their willing victims.

“Both the promoters and subscribers of fraudulent investment schemes are culpable,” Adonri argued. “Fraudsters should be prosecuted for their crimes, but those who ignore repeated warnings and still fall for these scams should also be held accountable for encouraging financial malpractice.”

Adonri contended that despite ongoing public education efforts, many Nigerians are lured by promises of quick riches and willingly engage in schemes they suspect may be illegitimate.

“We’ve issued countless warnings, and yet people continue to fall for these scams. At some point, we must hold individuals responsible for aiding and abetting economic fraud.”

The experts agree that while regulatory bodies must continue to enforce rules and intensify public awareness, individuals must also take greater responsibility in safeguarding their finances by asking the right questions and avoiding offers that appear too good to be true.

As digital financial products continue to grow in popularity, analysts warn that the risks of fraudulent schemes will remain unless there is a national shift in investor behavior—one grounded in knowledge, caution, and accountability.

  • Pope Francis dies on Easter Monday at 88, Vatican announces

VATICAN CITY (CNS) — Pope Francis died April 21 at the age of 88, the Vat gave new energy to millions of Catholics — and caused concern for some — as he transformed the image of the papacy into a pastoral ministry based on personal encounters and strong convictions about mission, poverty, immigration and dialogue.

U.S. Cardinal Kevin J. Farrell, chamberlain of the Holy Roman Church, announced that Pope Francis had died at 7:35 a.m.

“His whole life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and his church,” Cardinal Farrell said in a video announcement broadcast from the chapel of the Domus Sanctae Marthae, where Pope Francis lived and where he was recovering from pneumonia and respiratory infections. He had been released from Rome’s Gemelli hospital March 23 after more than five weeks of treatment.

Pope Francis “taught us to live the values of the Gospel with fidelity, courage and universal love, especially in favor of the poorest and most marginalized,” Cardinal Farrell said. “With immense gratitude for his example as a true disciple of the Lord Jesus, we commend the soul of Pope Francis to the infinite merciful love of the Triune God.”

The day before his death, the pope had appeared on the central balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica to give his Easter blessing “urbi et orbi” (to the city and the world). His voice was weak and he had trouble raising his arm to make the sign of the cross, but afterward he got into the popemobile and drove through the crowds in St. Peter’s Square.

He had also held a surprise meeting with U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance that Sunday. Francis received Vance in the papal residence, the Domus Sanctae Martha, the Vatican had announced. Vance has been in Rome that week, attending Good Friday services in St. Peter’s Basilica with his family and meeting with Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin on April 19.

Pope Francis was often practical and even poetic when speaking about family life, the environment and ministry in the church, but those also were the areas where he frequently unleashed the perplexity and even ire of some Catholics, who were convinced he was trying to change church teaching or practice.

The initial popularity of his pontificate began to be offset by caution and criticism from some sectors of the church, particularly because of the openness he showed toward gay Catholics and toward divorced and civilly remarried Catholics. While insisting he was not changing church teaching, he also insisted Catholics and their parishes must welcome all people seeking God with a sincere heart.

His insistence at World Youth Day in Lisbon, Portugal, in 2023 that in the church there is room for “todos, todos, todos” — “everyone, everyone, everyone” — became a frequent affirmation for the rest of his pontificate.

The iconic images of Pope Francis’ papacy were photographs of him embracing the sick, washing the feet of prisoners and eating with the poor.

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the image switched to photos of Pope Francis, standing alone in an empty St. Peter’s Square in the rain, verbalizing the fear many people felt, calling upon the Lord’s help to end the pandemic and raising a monstrance with the Blessed Sacrament to bless the city and the world.

The first major health scare of his pontificate came in July 2021 when, after reciting the Sunday Angelus, he went to Rome’s Gemelli hospital for what the Vatican said was pre-scheduled colon surgery. The three-hour operation included a left hemicolectomy, the removal of the descending part of the colon, a surgery that can be recommended to treat diverticulitis, when bulging pouches in the lining of the intestine or colon become inflamed or infected. The pope remained in the hospital 10 days.

Two years later, he was back at Gemelli for what the Vatican said was surgery to correct a hernia. He was taken to the hospital June 7 after his weekly general audience.

Throughout his pontificate, he occasionally canceled events because of bouts of sciatica, a sharp pain that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve from the lower back and down each leg. But, beginning in late December 2020, he also started having difficulty with his right knee. He later said the problem was a torn ligament and, by early May 2022, he was regularly using a wheelchair. The knee problem also forced him to cancel several events and to postpone a trip to Congo and South Sudan, which he finally made Jan. 31-Feb. 5, 2023.

God’s mercy was a constant theme in his preaching and was so central to his vision of what the church’s ministry must embody that he led an extraordinary Holy Year of Mercy in 2015-16.

Born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Dec. 17, 1936 and elected pope March 13, 2013, the Argentine cardinal was the first pope in history to come from the Southern Hemisphere and the first non-European elected in almost 1,300 years. The Jesuit was also the first member of his order to be elected pope and the first member of any religious order elected in nearly two centuries.

  • Teacher pictured smirking in court after being arrested for ‘having s£x with minors’

A teacher from Arizona was pictured grinning in court after he was arrested for allegedly having sx with minors. Eric Chapman, 43, a teacher and head baseball coach at Cortez High School in Phoenix, was arrested on last Wednesday after he was found to be sending nude photographs of himself to a minor online, according to court documents obtained by ABC 15.  An investigation into Chapman began on March 25 after the Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a tip about him from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the outlet reported.Once authorities got into his social media accounts, they identified him as a teacher at the school and contacted him about their findings.  He then admitted to using a social media account and also filming sxual content in multiple areas throughout the school’s campus, as well as in his car, records showed. Those interactions involved three students – two current and one former. The youngest victim was just 16 years old.  He made his initial court appearance on Thursday as he was seen smiling ear to ear while he stood before a judge in a virtual hearing.  The married teacher also confessed to having downloaded several hundred child pornography images and videos on his phone and computer, the filing stated. Officials found several images of males, including children as young as seven years old, in those files, Fox 10 Phoenix reported.  Although police have not identified the three victims, they did say that Chapman met them through online dating apps, per the outlet.  Ashley Stetson, with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, said the most concerning aspect of the case was that Chapman admitted these alleged actions happened recently.  ‘What’s concerning to the state is when officers interviewed the suspect, he admitted to sxual acts happening as recently as last week,’ Stetson said during his hearing.  ‘The state believes he is a danger to the community. As well as his position as a coach and a teacher, he is in a position of trust, and the state believes that a higher bond is appropriate,’ she added.  He faces multiple counts of sxual conduct with a minor and sexual exploitation of a minor. Chapman is being held on a $250,000 cash bond. In a statement to parents, the Glendale Union High School District addressed the allegations against Chapman and confirmed he is no longer employed. ‘We are writing to inform you that Cortez High School administration was notified by the Phoenix Police Department that one of our teachers was arrested on charges related to crimes against children,’ the district said.  ‘Upon learning of the allegations, school and district administration took immediate action. The teacher has been relieved of all duties. The Glendale Union High School District takes these matters seriously and works closely with law enforcement to support their investigations and ensure student safety. ‘As this is an active police investigation, we are unable to share further details. Thank you for your continued partnership and support.’  After hearing about his alleged crimes, Jilwanna Reed, a mother of two students at the school, said it was ‘disturbing’ to learn. ‘I think that is very, very disturbing,’ she told Fox 10.  Another parent echoed her concerns, adding: ‘It’s scary in this day and age to send your kid to school, because you have no idea what’s going to happen.’   The post Teacher pictured smirking in court after being arrested for ‘having sx with minors’ appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.

  • BREAKING: Convicted Independence Day Bomber, Charles Okah, In Critical Condition After Suspected Bomb Blast At Maiduguri Prison

Charles Okah, a high-profile inmate at the Maximum Security Custodial Centre (MaSCC) in Maiduguri, is reportedly in critical condition following a suspected bomb explosion that rocked the facility late Sunday night.

The blast, which occurred around 9 p.m. on April 20, is now being treated by insiders as an attempted assassination. Okah, found unconscious in his cell early Monday morning, is said to have suffered severe smoke inhalation and possibly serious burns.

Sources within the facility confirmed that Okah was removed from the debris around 6 a.m. by emergency personnel. Although still alive, he remains unconscious and in a life-threatening condition.

According to sources, paramedics attached to the custodial centre are working to stabilise him, with plans underway to transfer him to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital for specialised treatment.

Security sources revealed that a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera with night vision capabilities, positioned near the cells, may have captured footage of the individual responsible for planting the explosive device.

    Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but speculation is rife. Some reports link the explosion to a recent discovery made during a routine cell search on Monday, April 14. During the operation, conducted by personnel from the Armed Squad Unit, a draft letter allegedly authored by Okah was found. The letter reportedly detailed claims of staged deaths within the prison system and was addressed to the Borno State Attorney General.

Other sources suggest a more sinister theory that elements within the high command of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) may be complicit in the incident, allegedly aiming to silence Okah before a scheduled investigation into corruption within Maiduguri’s custodial centres could occur.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident or Okah’s current medical condition.

Charles Okah, brother of Henry Okah, has been serving a prison sentence linked to the 2010 Independence Day bombings in Abuja. His incarceration has remained a subject of public interest and controversy over the years.

On Sunday evening, SaharaReporters reported that an explosion had rocked the prison facility, sparking a fire in the solitary confinement cell where Ohah had been held since mid-March.

Initial reports from within the prison indicated that an object, likely a bomb, was lobbed into Okah’s cell through the open window bars.

Eyewitnesses reported heavy smoke billowing from the cell. The incident followed Okah’s open letter to Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Olubunmi-Ojo, in which he exposed widespread judicial and official corruption in two custodial centres in Maiduguri.

According to accounts from the scene, Okah was heard coughing and choking amidst the growing smoke, with his screams echoing throughout the compound. He reportedly shouted that the explosive device had been thrown into his cell, sparking the fire that had engulfed his quarters.

SaharaReporters’ attempts to contact Abubakar Umar, the spokesperson for the Nigerian Correctional Service, for comment were unsuccessful. He did not answer phone calls or respond to a text message.

  • Chrome Tests Persistent Picture-in-Picture for YouTube But Firefox Still Does It Better

Google Chrome does many things right in the media consumption front. The most popular content platform YouTube works flawlessly as you’d expect a Google product to run on another Google product. For example, the Picture-in picture mode on YouTube works well on Chrome until you switch tabs and poof, it disappears. But that will change soon as Google is working on a flag to always have the PiP even when switching tabs.

Spotted first by Leopeva64 on X, Google is working on a new flag called “Browser initiated automatic picture in picture” which pops out a small window that can be placed anywhere on the screen. Although it’s a feature flag in Chrome Canary, users will be able to enable it from Site Settings, by enabling the Automatic picture-in-picture toggle.

The feature is currently in Chrome Canary and is similar to the pop-out feature on Firefox. However, unlike the same feature, it doesn’t seem to work on other popular video consumption websites like Dailymotion, Twitter, and Vimeo.

Consuming YouTube in picture-in-picture when multitasking has been frustrating for Chrome users, but this should fix that. However, PiP for YouTube on Chrome is only available for YouTube Premium users. Firefox’s pop-out feature, on the other hand, doesn’t require Premium subscription.

Chrome Tests Persistent Picture-in-Picture for YouTube But Firefox Still Does It BetterChrome Tests Persistent Picture-in-Picture for YouTube But Firefox Still Does It Better
    Left: Chrome | Right: Firefox

Firefox has a wider support video pop-outs across almost all embedded or individual video players and websites. The player pops out, and you can place it wherever you want. However, unlike Firefox, Chrome doesn’t let you skip forward or back (not even with arrow keys). Neither can you adjust the volume, or use the seek bar in the mini player unless you return to the tab, which is a bummer. Also, you cannot resize it like you’d be able to on Firefox.

Regardless, it’s good news for those who consume lots of YouTube videos when multitasking on Chrome. We hope Google adds more options in the mini player to let you control more aspects of the video. Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
