  • Vivo X200s: the overclocked ”beast” you’ve been waiting for?

Vivo just pulled a fast one on the tech crowd—launching the X200s in China without much noise, but with specs that shout “flagship” from the rooftops.  At the heart of the device is MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9400 Plus, an overclocked variant of the already powerful 9400 chip. According to Vivo, this version delivers around 20% more performance in Agentic AI tasks, pushing responsiveness and real-time processing into next-gen territory. It comes with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, scaling up to an impressive 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal space.

Vivo X200s display: a feast for your eyes

Now, let’s talk display. The X200s features a 6.67-inch flat OLED panel from BOE with Q10 substrate, rocking a crisp 1.5K resolution (2800 x 1260) and a 120Hz refresh rate. Add in 2160Hz PWM dimming for eye comfort and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, and you’re looking at one of the brightest and smoothest displays in this class. Bezels? Barely there.

On the back, you’ll find a triple 50MP setup that’s hard to ignore. The main sensor is a Sony IMX921 with OIS and Vivo’s in-house VCS 2.0 color engine. Alongside it: a 50MP ultra-wide (Samsung JN1) and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens (IMX882) with 3x optical zoom. Selfies are handled by a 32MP front shooter, a consistent spec in Vivo’s premium line.

    Impressive battery life

The battery? Generous. A 6,200mAh dual-cell unit, with 90W wired and 40W wireless charging. Under the hood, the X200s runs Android 15 with OriginOS 5, and packs extras like ultrasonic fingerprint scanning, dual stereo speakers, IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance, laser autofocus, a flicker sensor for camera stability, and a tactile x-axis linear motor.

Connectivity is fully loaded too: Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, IR blaster, and one unique twist—“kilometer-level offline communication”, a Vivo innovation that lets users connect over long distances without cellular networks. Likely exclusive to China, at least for now.

The phone comes in four colors—Soft Purple, Mint, White, and Classic Black. IT weighs either 203g or 205g depending on the finish. Dimensions are a sleek 160.1 x 74.29 x 7.99mm.

    Vivo X200s price and availability

As for pricing, it’s tiered across five variants:

    • 12GB + 256GB: ¥4,199 (~$575)
    • 16GB + 256GB: ¥4,399 (~$600)
    • 12GB + 512GB: ¥4,699 (~$645)
    • 16GB + 512GB: ¥4,999 (~$685)
    • 16GB + 1TB: ¥5,499 (~$755)

Right now, it’s a China-only release, and Vivo hasn’t confirmed global availability. Given the brand’s track record, we don’t expect to see an international version anytime soon. But we can hope to.

  • Lakers Defeated by Timberwolves in Playoff Opener

By Homero De la Fuente, CNN

(CNN) — The NBA Playoffs officially tipped off with a sizzling four-game slate on Saturday.

In the night’s finale, the Los Angeles Lakers fell to a heavy defeat in front of their home fans, losing 117-95 to the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 1 of their Western Conference best-of-seven series.

The Lakers hit the halftime break reeling, down 59-48, and things only got worse as Minnesota jumped out with an 11-0 run in the third to extend the lead to 22. Anthony Edwards, who finished with 22 points, eight rebounds and nine assists, torched the Lakers with a 3-pointer that stretched the lead to 27 points with just over five minutes left in the third.

But the Lakers, sparked by their new superstar Luka Dončić, refused to go quietly. A 13-3 run clawed them back into the fight, and Dončić sent the crowd at Crypto.Com Arena into a frenzy, drilling a halfcourt buzzer-beater at the end of the third to cut the deficit to 94-78.

Minnesota weathered the Lakers surge, countering with a 12-2 run in the fourth quarter to shut down any hopes of a comeback.

Jaden McDaniels led the Wolves’ charge with 25 points and nine rebounds, while Julius Randle added 16 points. The Timberwolves knocked down a franchise playoff-record 21 3-pointers.

For the Lakers, Dončić finished with eight rebounds and game-high 37 points – tying George Mikan for the second-highest haul in a Laker postseason debut. LeBron James contributed 19 points in the loss.

“I’m not sure physically we were ready, if that makes sense,” said Lakers head coach JJ Redick. “And really, when they started playing with a lot of thrust and physicality, we just didn’t respond immediately to that, and then that stretch from the start of the second through four, five minutes to go in the third.

“We lost that stretch by 34, so that’s a blowout.”

Both teams will return to the court for Game 2 on Tuesday, April 22.

Elsewhere, the New York Knicks stunned the Detroit Pistons at Madison Square Garden, orchestrating a 21-0 run in the fourth quarter to erase an 11-point deficit and seal Game 1, 123-112.

Jalen Brunson scored a game-high 34 points, overcoming early shooting struggles and a late injury scare to hand the Pistons an NBA record-extending 14th straight playoff loss.

Brunson started the first half shooting 2-of-13 from the field, but finished 12-for-27, including eight points in the game-clinching run. In the fourth quarter, the star guard appeared to tweak his right ankle on several occasions, before going to the locker room to change his shoes

“Obviously, we didn’t end the third quarter the way we wanted to, but there was never a doubt that we’re going to just lay down and not fight,” Brunson said after the game. “We had to find a way to figure things out and keep battling and I mean, it turned around quickly.”

Both squads will return to the court on Monday in New York.

It was a back-and-forth battle between the Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 1, with the Nuggets escaping with a 112-110 win in overtime.

The Clippers took a 15-point lead in the first half but the Nuggets battled back and by the final minutes of regulation the teams were trading the lead back and forth.

Neither team was willing to give an inch and, in the end, 48 minutes was not enough to settle things.

In overtime, the decisive moment came from an unlikely source in Christian Braun, who hit a 3-pointer with a minute left to put Denver up by four.

Pesky defense from veteran Russell Westbrook created a key turnover to let the Nuggets ice it from the free-throw line.

In the first game of the four-game slate, the Indiana Pacers’ strong first half set the pace en route to a 117-98 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday.

In a rematch of last year’s first-round series, the Pacers held a 67-43 lead at halftime and never looked back to win Game 1 of the Eastern Conference first-round series.

Pascal Siakam led Indiana with 25 points and seven rebounds, while Tyrese Haliburton added 10 points and 12 assists in the win.

For the Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 36 points and 12 rebounds in the loss. Milwaukee was without star guard Damian Lillard, who missed the contest with deep vein thrombosis in his right calf. According to reports, Lillard could come back to play in either Game 2 or 3.

  • Fabrizio Romano reveals Casemiro’s future

Manchester United’s turbulent campaign continues to force major questions over their senior stars, with underwhelming results casting shadows over some of the club’s most experienced names.

Ruben Amorim is preparing for his first summer transfer window at the helm, and while he remains tight-lipped about specific exits, it’s clear changes are coming.

The club’s failure to secure consistent results in both domestic and European competitions has left INEOS scrambling to reshape the squad.

That reshaping is expected to include prioritising youth, trimming the wage bill, and offloading players with diminishing returns on investment.

Among those under heavy scrutiny is one of United’s most decorated figures—an elite midfielder whose salary no longer matches his on-pitch influence.

Casemiro is now being lined up for a possible summer departure, according to trusted transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.

The Brazilian international, who arrived from Real Madrid to huge fanfare and on a hefty wage packet of around £350,000 per week, has failed to recapture the form that once made him a Champions League regular.

In his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter, Romano confirmed that Casemiro could still leave if the right offer comes in, stating: “Yes, it’s still a possibility.

“If a good proposal for player and club arrives, he can still leave.”

Despite Jamie Carragher describing the 32-year-old as “world-class”, Casemiro’s impact has waned this season, with fitness concerns and inconsistency casting doubt over his long-term role in Amorim’s plans.

United are reportedly stepping up efforts behind the scenes to find suitors for Casemiro, with the club keen to free up funds and reduce their wage burden.

With INEOS looking to implement a younger, more dynamic core with future resale value, Casemiro’s exit could be one of several big-name departures in a summer shake-up.

While he remains a respected figure in the dressing room, the clock is ticking, and the business side of football may now determine his fate.

Manchester United fans should prepare for a major midfield reset—one that could begin with the departure of a proven veteran.

  • Teen curfew push could see tweaks before vote; Chicago mayor open to negotiations

A downtown alderman’s push for a stricter curfew to curb “teen takeovers” could face tweaks before a vote as soon as Wednesday.

Ald. Brian Hopkins promised once again Tuesday to move forward on his bid for an 8 p.m. curfew for teens downtown, two hours earlier than the current citywide rule. But he said he’s open to tailoring the broad ordinance so it targets the chaotic gatherings he wants to stop, a move he may need to make to win City Council approval.

Negotiations in the council are ongoing, and Hopkins is confident he can win over a majority of aldermen, he said. He will look to the advice of Chicago Police Department Superintendent Larry Snelling and police district commanders before agreeing to changes, he added.

“When they feel that an effective tool is on the table in front of them — may or may not be the perfect solution, but good enough — we are going to go with that,” Hopkins said. “But we’re not there yet.”

Hopkins’ push comes in the wake of two high-profile gatherings of young people in Streeterville that ended in violence. A 46-year-old tourist was shot in her arm on March 9 and a 15-year-old boy suffered bullet graze wounds three weeks later.

The so-called teen takeovers, fueled by social media posts, have sprung up in the city during early warm-weather weekends. They have sometimes ended in tragedy.

Johnson’s administration deserves a “good grade” for its handling of three takeovers last weekend that had been advertised online, including one gathering planned at Millennium Park, Hopkins said.

“A significant number of teens did get off the Red Line and went there looking for the party, and they didn’t see it,” Hopkins said. “They saw a large group of police officers standing at the ready, and they saw an even larger group of community-based violence interrupters, counselors, Chicago Public Schools staff, people ready to greet them and tell them you don’t want to do this here.”

Johnson said Tuesday that police prevented another takeover and responded to the third that emerged in Hyde Park, where officers made “a handful of arrests.”

“We want our young people to be able to explore every part of our city. That is their right as Chicagoans,” Johnson said at a City Hall news conference. “But we cannot allow gatherings to turn violent and put our young people and our entire communities at risk of gun violence.”

Asked where he stands on Hopkins’ ordinance, the mayor pushed back on the proposal’s current downtown focus. “Diverting the problem somewhere else, that doesn’t reflect my values,” he said.

But like Hopkins, he signaled his openness to negotiations, a softening of Johnson’s stance on the idea compared to his past comments. Without specifying what in the curfew ordinance might change, he said Hopkins had been “amenable” to some suggested alterations and added that “the table is open and we are discussing ideas.”

Hopkins said the mayor did not appear to oppose his efforts.

“He’s aware it’s happening, and he’s letting it happen,” the downtown alderman said. “What his ultimate decision will be, I won’t speak for him, I don’t know, but I know he’s just letting this play out.”

Hopkins said he may bring his current ordinance up for a vote Wednesday, try to force a vote on an amended version or send the amended version back to City Council committee, where it could be more fully vetted by aldermen.

Also Tuesday, Community Safety Deputy Mayor Garien Gatewood said nine companies had applied for a new city gunshot detection technology contract by last Friday’s deadline.

Johnson’s administrations opened the request last fall after the mayor axed the ShotSpotter acoustic gunshot detection system long used by police. The ShotSpotter shutdown, which Johnson promised in his mayoral campaign, rankled aldermen and sparked months of legislative battles over the emergency response tool.

Gatewood confirmed that ShotSpotter’s parent company, SoundThinking, was one of the companies that made a proposal. Company officials have said since shortly after Johnson ended their earlier deal that they would be among those vying for the new contract. The company will not be automatically rejected despite Johnson’s past opposition, Gatewood said.

“I’m not standing out against anyone or holding any particular organization above another,” Gatewood said.

The deputy mayor declined to discuss specific proposals, but said the process of picking from among them is already underway.

“The goal is to expedite it,” he said. “To get something to continue on the downward trend of crime that we have seen, the downward trends of violence that we’ve seen.”

According to CPD, murders are down 24% through early April compared with the same time last year, while robberies, aggravated batteries, burglaries, felony thefts and motor vehicle thefts have also seen large drops.

Asked if new technology would be put in place by the summer, Johnson didn’t answer directly. Instead, he praised his broad efforts to improve public safety, touting work to add detectives, bring in new police helicopters, expand city-run mental health care and bolster community violence prevention work.

“We’re already seeing a decline without technology,” he said. “If it were just one thing that could make us all safe, I believe the city of Chicago would have purchased that before I became mayor.”

  • Death Toll In Ojodu-Berger Building Collapse Rises To Seven

The death toll from the three-storey building collapse at 9 and 10 Oremeta Street in the Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos has risen to seven.

The number of casualties increased after two more bodies were recovered from the rubble on Monday afternoon.

Rescue efforts and debris clearance are still ongoing at the scene.

THE WHISTLER reports that the building, which housed a popular local restaurant, collapsed around 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, prompting a swift response from emergency agencies.

By 5:48 a.m. on Sunday, emergency responders had rescued 13 victims alive, while five bodies—three women and two men—had been recovered.

On Sunday, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed that safety protocols had been activated, and the area had been cordoned off to ensure secure rescue operations.

The agency also deployed a range of rescue equipment, including heavy and light machinery such as excavators, payloaders, concrete cutters, spreaders, and chains.

Personnel from multiple agencies—including the LASEMA Tiger and Cobra Response Teams, Pre-Hospital Care Unit, Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC), Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Red Cross—are actively involved in the rescue efforts.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the deceased, as investigations into the cause of the collapse continue.

  • One day before Pope’s death, Vance received audience on Easter Sunday

    By CHRIS MEGERIAN

WASHINGTON (AP) — One of Pope Francis’ final encounters before his death was with U.S. Vice President JD Vance, who visited the Vatican over the weekend.

The meeting took place on Easter Sunday. Vance, a Catholic convert, entered the room and reached down for the pope’s hand. “Hello,” the vice president said. “So good to see you.”

Francis was sitting in a wheelchair, and his words were inaudible in a video released by the Vatican.

“I know you’ve not been feeling great, but it’s good see you in better health,” Vance said.

A priest serving as a translator spoke for the pope.

“These are for your children,” the priest said as someone presented Vance with chocolate eggs. Next came a tray of additional gifts, including rosaries and a Vatican tie.

“Thank you,” Vance said as he held the dark tie. “So beautiful.”

They posed for a photo, Vance standing to the pope’s right before bidding him farewell.

“I pray for you every day,” Vance said. “God bless you.”

Vance’s visit was not without political sensitivities, and he met with Cardinal Pietro Parolin on Saturday for what the Vatican described as “an exchange of opinions.” The Catholic Church, under Francis’ leadership, has championed the rights of migrants, while Vance and President Donald Trump have advocated for crackdowns.

Vance’s office said the vice president and the cardinal “discussed their shared religious faith, Catholicism in the United States, the plight of persecuted Christian communities around the world, and President Trump’s commitment to restoring world peace.”

Leavitt told reporters that she had spoken to members of Vance’s team on Monday morning after Francis’ death.

“They expressed how excited and grateful they were for the opportunity to have met with the pope just yesterday,” she said.

Leavitt added that Francis “touched millions of lives throughout his tenure as the head of the Catholic Church and so it’s a solemn day for Catholics around the world and we are praying for all those who loved the pope and believed in him.”

President Donald Trump issued a statement on Truth Social: “Rest in Peace Pope Francis! May God Bless him and all who loved him!”

At the White House Easter egg roll on Monday, Trump said he signed an executive order putting U.S. flags at half staff in the pope’s honor.

“He was a good man,” the president told reporters. “He loved the world and it’s an honor to do that.”

  • City of the Wolves in his latest combo video

Those who pre-ordered Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves are now able to play the game thanks to its early access perk. Of course, this means that Desk already has his hands on the game.

As such, Desk has released a new combo video featuring Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. This is a particularly interesting video as it draws comparisons to Garou: Mark of the Wolves.

Notably, Garou: Mark of the Wolves was first released in Japanese arcades back in November 26, 1999. It’s been nearly 26 years since then, but Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves acts as a real sequel to that game.

In his video, Desk highlights how a number of combos that existed in Garou: Mark of the Wolves have returned in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. Indeed, there is an uncanny resemblance in how the characters interact with one another between the two games.

Throughout the video, Desk showcases combos for Terry, Marco, Kevin, Hokutomaru, Gato, Tizoc, Kain, Rock, B. Jenet, Dong, and Hotaru. Of course, this means that Vox, Preecha, Cristiano, and Salvatore don’t get featured in this video since they’re newcomers (as well as Billy Kane and Mai Shiranui since they just wasn’t in Garou: Mark of the Wolves).

Overall, the video spans for about nine minutes. In random sections, Desk also shows off a few cool references that have carried over from Garou: Mark of the Wolves to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.
