  • Peter Okoye Testifies Against Brother, Jude In Alleged N1.38bn Fraud Case

Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, one half of the legendary P-Square duo, has opened up about enduring over two decades of betrayal, manipulation, and silence within his family, while revealing that he is now prioritising his mental health.

In a post shared on his Instagram story on Tuesday, Peter said “love doesn’t manipulate.”

“Don’t let ‘family’ be the reason you’re drowning in silence. I did – for over 20 years and it almost cost me everything. But now I know better – love doesn’t manipulate, loyalty doesn’t betray, and family doesn’t steal from you,” he wrote

He further condemned any form of toxic family relationship, saying, “Family that steals and breaks you isn’t family at all. Real family doesn’t drain you, shame you, discriminate against you, or ignore your pain. My sanity matters. My mental health is a priority. If it costs my mental health, then it’s too expensive.”

Peter’s post came in the wake of a high-profile legal battle before the Federal High Court in Lagos, where his older brother and former manager, Jude Okoye, is standing trial over allegations of money laundering and the diversion of royalties belonging to P-Square.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is prosecuting Jude on a seven-count charge bordering on money laundering involving sums of N1.38bn, $1m, and £34,537.59, alongside his company, Northside Music Limited.

Testifying as the first prosecution witness on Monday, Peter narrated how Jude allegedly incorporated a new company, Northside Music Ltd, bearing a similar name to their original Northside Entertainment Ltd, without informing him or his twin brother, Paul Okoye.

According to him, the company was secretly registered in Jude’s wife’s name and used to divert the group’s royalties.

“I found out Jude had incorporated another company, Northside Music Ltd, similar to our original Northside Entertainment Ltd, and he was using it to collect our royalties. He and his wife are the only directors. She owns 80 per cent and he owns 20 per cent,” Peter told the court.

He explained that suspicions about financial irregularities surfaced after P-Square’s split in 2017, which prompted him to engage his lawyer, identified as Afolabi, who then petitioned the EFCC.

The case has been adjourned to June 4, 2025, for cross-examination.

The longstanding feud within the Okoye family began in 2015. It escalated to a public split in 2017. Though P-Square reunited in 2021, and released new music and performed together, tensions resurfaced in 2024.

In August, Paul, a.k.a. Rudeboy, in an interview with City FM, confirmed another fallout, and accused Peter of petitioning both him and Jude to the EFCC.

Peter, however, denied involving Paul in the petition, insisting his grievances were solely against Jude and his wife, Ifeoma, for alleged betrayal and financial misconduct.

The controversy deepened when Paul publicly defended Jude, and claimed that Peter masterminded the legal troubles.

In February, Paul said, “The truth is, Peter is the one putting Jude through these things. It’s Peter who is doing these. I’m only standing for the truth because the same crime that they accused him of doing, then Peter is guilty, Paul is also guilty too.”

  • Ranchers hope tariffs boost demand for cattle but fear market uncertainty

By JOSH FUNK, Associated Press Business Writer

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Rancher Brett Kenzy hopes President Donald Trump’s tariffs will make imported beef expensive enough that Americans will turn to cattle raised at home for all their hamburgers and steaks.

That might raise prices enough to give Kenzy and others the incentive they need to expand their herds for the first time in decades. But doing that would take at least two years, and it’s not clear if Trump’s tariffs on most of the world besides China are high enough to make that worth the investment.

“If we can just fix a few key things, I think that we can reinvigorate rural America,” said the South Dakota rancher. “Just get these imports under control, get them to a level that we can understand and plan on, and then let us fill the void. And I think that the American rancher can do that.”

Trump has enjoyed overwhelming support in rural parts of the country in his three campaigns for president. Still, the uncertainty created by the trade war he instigated has given some ranchers pause as they’ve watched cattle prices drop after the tariffs were announced.

“I just don’t like manipulated markets because somebody is going to artificially win and somebody is going to artificially lose,” said Bryant Kagay, who raises and feeds cattle as well as growing crops on his farm in northwest Missouri. “And how do I know it’s not going to be me?”

    Ranchers cautiously optimistic

Ranchers hope the tariffs might create an incentive for them to raise more cattle, and the National Cattlemen trade group is salivating at the idea of selling more cuts of meat overseas if the tariffs lead to new trade deals with countries that don’t buy much U.S. beef.

That’s a big if — Trump has said dozens of countries have reached out to negotiate new trade deals, but no agreements have been reached.

About the only thing clear so far is that American ranchers will likely lose one of their biggest markets as a result of the 125% tariffs imposed by China in response to Trump. They sold $1.6 billion worth of beef there last year, and since many ranchers also raise crops, they are reeling about the prospect of losing China as a market for those, too.

Most beef exports to China are already on hold because the certificates from that country that meat plants need weren’t renewed at most beef plants in the United States after they expired in March. So the U.S. Meat Export Federation said few American beef plants are even eligible to ship to China right now.

Kenzy hopes Trump’s tariffs represent a lasting change in U.S. trade policy. So far the tariffs have been changing so much since they were announced that ranchers can’t count on them yet.

“If this is just a short-term negotiating tactic — Tarzan beating his chest — then I would say that that would be an epic failure because that will not result in reshoring industry,” Kenzy said.

The problem, as Kenzy and other members of the Ranchers-Cattlemen Action Legal Fund United Stockgrowers of America see it, is that the more than 4 billion pounds of beef that’s imported every year — along with cattle brought in from other countries to be slaughtered here — keeps cattle prices lower.

Much of what is imported is lean beef trimmings that meatpackers mix with fattier beef produced here in the United States to produce the varieties of ground beef that domestic consumers want. Even though Trump placed most of his proposed tariffs on hold, the across-the-board 10% tariffs he imposed for 90 days will make imported beef more expensive, so consumers are likely to see the price of hamburger increase.

Even if ranchers decided to raise more cattle to help replace those imports, it would take at least two years to breed and raise them. That means meat processors will likely pay higher prices for that imported beef for at least that long. And the ongoing drought across most of the West will continue to make it difficult to raise more cattle.

Plus, if American ranchers want to produce more of that lean beef they might have to change the way they raise their animals because the entire system in this country is designed to produce fattier meat to get deliciously marbled and tender steaks that help ranchers make the most money. Kansas State University agricultural economist Glynn Tonsor said most of the lean beef America buys comes from Australia and New Zealand where cattle are fed grass — not grain — their entire lives, and that’s an entirely different system.

US ranchers hope tariffs level playing field but uncertainty remains

The number of cattle being raised across the country has been shrinking for decades to reach the current historic lows of around 28 million, but Texas A&M livestock economist David Anderson said even though that’s less than two-thirds of the number of cattle there were in 1975, more beef — some 26.7 billion pounds — was actually produced last year. That’s because the American beef industry has become so good at feeding cattle and breeding larger animals that now every head of cattle produces more meat. Anderson said that means there’s less incentive to expand the herd.

Casey Maher, owner of the Maher Angus Ranch in Morristown, S.D., said he hopes Trump’s tariffs will level the playing field for American beef producers.

“We’re optimistic and we’re going to stay the course,” said Maher, a third-generation rancher. “We’ve gone through tough times, and if it’s for the greater good, I think ranchers are all in.”

Not all of them, though. Kagay, the Missouri farmer, said uncertainty causes problems of its own.

Bryant Kagay holds a tool in the workshop of the farm he co-owns with his father and grandfather in Amity, Missouri, Friday, April 4, 2025. (AP Photo/Nick Ingram)

“I’m not real confident about these tariffs,” he said. “Will they stick around? Will they not stick around? Can I count on them? What exactly is going to happen? You know, nobody knows. So it makes it hard for me to plan my business. I just don’t like it.”

That uncertainty could extend well beyond farming and ranching if it creates new fears about the economy as a whole. If consumers buy less beef because they are worried about their grocery budgets, it won’t matter how much beef is imported.

“You’re less likely to pay up for a ribeye steak if you’re worried about losing your job,” Tonsor said.

  • Despite improved health, pope picks cardinals to lead Holy Week liturgies

Pope Francis is going without supplemental oxygen for longer periods and is continuing therapy to recover his voice and to recover his physical strength, the Vatican press office said, but he also is increasing the number of private meetings he is holding with the heads of Vatican offices.

Briefing reporters April 15, Tuesday of Holy Week, the most liturgically significant and busy week of the year, the Vatican press office did not say if Pope Francis would attend any of the liturgies, but it announced the names of the cardinals delegated by the pope to preside over the chrism Mass on Holy Thursday, the Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion April 18 and the Way of the Cross at Rome’s Colosseum that night.

The pope asked Italian Cardinal Domenico Calcagno, retired president of the Administration of the Patrimony of the Holy See, to lead the morning chrism Mass April 17. While the parish of St. Peter’s Basilica has its own Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper, the pope usually celebrates the evening Mass with the foot-washing rite “privately” at a prison or detention facility; the press office said it had no information about what the pope would do this year.

Cardinal Claudio Gugerotti, prefect of the Dicastery for Eastern Churches, was chosen by the pope to lead the Good Friday liturgy in St. Peter’s Basilica. The Vatican’s long custom is that the preacher of the papal household, now Capuchin Father Roberto Pasolini, preaches at the liturgy.

Pope Francis asked Cardinal Baldassare Reina, his vicar for the Diocese of Rome, to lead the Via Crucis at the Colosseum that night. Pope Francis prepared the text of the meditations, the press office said.

The 88-year-old pope, who was released from Rome’s Gemelli hospital March 23 after 38 days of treatment, spent two weeks in his rooms in the Domus Sanctae Marthae before making any public appearances. Then he arrived briefly at the end of Masses in St. Peter’s Square April 6 and April 13, visited St. Peter’s Basilica April 10 and the Basilica of St. Mary Major April 12.

  • Andre Onana shocked by wage cut after Man Utd fail to qualify for the Champions League

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana was reportedly left shocked by his wage cut this season after the club failed to qualify for the Champions League.

The 29-year-old Cameroonian goalkeeper has endured a dreadful season that reached a new low last week. He was dropped for the game and replaced by Altay Bayindir before their 4-1 loss to Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.

Yesterday he arrived at training alongside his agent who may be looking to negotiate a way out of the club with reports suggesting a move to the Saudi League is on the cards.

Now, it has been reported that Onana was left shocked by his wage cut after United only managed to qualify for the Europa League last season.

According to The Athletic, Onana’s reduced wage shocked him and even led to him speaking to now-departed sporting director Dan Ashworth about the issue. His frustration with his new wage alongside being dropped in the first team looks like a summer move is on the horizon.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano spoke on his YouTube channel about how the Saudi League could be his saving grace.

“For Onana in general, the situation can be one to watch in the summer transfer window because I told you in January that Onana signed with a new agent. The agent is Fali Ramadani, Lian Sports, so he decided to trust Ramadani to take care of his future in January.

“There is interest from the Saudi Pro League since he was at Inter, but he preferred a move to Man Utd. He had this dream to play for Manchester Man Utd. Now I can say that the interest from the Saudi Pro League is still there for Onana. So there is still strong interest.”

  • Nvidia Announces RTX 5060 Ti: Starting at $379 with DLSS 4 and Extreme Performance Gains

As Nvidia continues to expand its GPU offerings, the variety doesn’t seem to stop. The company has just announced the RTX 5060 family of GPUs, including two different variants of the RTX 5060 Ti, starting at $379. Alongside the desktop family of GPUs, a slew of Nvidia 5060-powered laptops will be making their way to your tables very soon. Let’s talk about them.

Nvidia RTX 5060 Ti Desktop Family Comes with DLSS 4 Performance Gains

The Nvidia RTX 5060 Ti is the company’s latest desktop offering, catering to mid- and high-end gamers. The GPU features 4608 CUDA cores and a TDP of 180 Watts. Built on the RTX Blackwell architecture, explicitly optimized for neural rendering, the RTX 5060 family also uses Nvidia’s DLSS 4 Frame Generation technology.

DLSS 4 combines super resolution and multi-frame generation and is powered by transformer models. According to Nvidia, the RTX 5060 Ti more than doubles the frame rate compared to previous-generation GPUs like the RTX 3060 Ti.

The company further claims that in real-world scenarios, titles such as Cyberpunk 2077, Alan Wake 2, and Hogwarts Legacy surpass 100 FPS at max settings and 1440p resolution with DLSS enabled. Latency is also significantly reduced, from 176ms on the 3060 Ti to just 81ms on the 5060 Ti under full ray-traced conditions.

You can also expect this level of performance in games like Marvel Rivals, with ultra-low latency powered by NVIDIA Reflex.

DLSS 4 on the RTX 5060 delivers better-than-native image quality, significantly higher performance, and lower latency. In DLSS 4 Quality Mode, the 5060 Ti can reach up to 171 FPS with just 47ms latency, outperforming the 4060 Ti and leaving the 3060 Ti well behind.

    Next-Gen AI and Encoding Capabilities

The Blackwell architecture inside the RTX 5060 Ti brings 5th-gen Tensor Cores capable of delivering up to 759 AI TOPS of performance, supporting advanced AI workflows, real-time graphics enhancements, and creative production tools.

Additionally, the upgraded GDDR7 memory and 9th-gen NVENC encoder will ensure smooth handling of demanding tasks like high-resolution video rendering and live streaming.

    Nvidia RTX 5060 Desktop Incoming

In addition to the RTX 5060 Ti, Nvidia has confirmed the launch of the standard RTX 5060 desktop GPU. The GPU is built on the same Blackwell architecture and features DLSS 4 support. Like the 5060 Ti, the desktop variant is set to deliver high performance at a more affordable price point.

While Nvidia is yet to detail all specs, the RTX 5060 is expected to offer excellent 1080p and entry-level 1440p gaming performance, making it ideal for mainstream gamers. Alongside DLSS 4, the game will have Nvidia Reflex, promising smooth gameplay with low latency in 2025’s most demanding games.

The Nvidia 5060 will launch in May 2025 with 8GB of GDDR7 memory. With its aggressive pricing of $299 and 8GB VRAM, the 5060 just might become the go-to choice for gamers looking for affordable next-gen performance.

Nvidia RTX 5060-Powered Laptops Also Arrive Soon

Alongside the RTX 5060 Ti, Nvidia has also announced RTX 5060-powered laptops. These machines will be produced by the latest OEMs, including ASUS, HP, Dell, and MSI.

The latest family of GPU laptops will offer up to 144 FPS at ultra settings and come in designs as thin as 14.9mm. The upcoming laptops will be suitable for both gamers and content creators. The company has stated the starting prices for the laptops at $1,099.

    Price and Availability

Nvidia has announced that the RTX 5060 Ti will officially launch tomorrow and will come in two variants: an 8GB variant priced at $379 and a 16GB model priced at $429. The standalone GeForce RTX 5060 is scheduled to launch in May 2025 with a starting price of $299.

  • NVIDIA RTX 5060 and 5060 TI Go Official With Attractive Price But a Big Catch

After much speculation, NVIDIA finally took the wraps off the more affordable GeForce RTX 5060 series. The new GPUs will join the RTX 5070, 5080, and 5090 series. It stands as a more affordable choice with a performance that fits into the value-for-money category. They bring the latest technologies from NVIDIA like DLSS 4 and Multi-Frame-Gen. However, there is a catch. It could make them not advisable for gamers who tend to keep their GPUs for a long time. The most affordable variant costs $299 but has only 8 GB of VRAM which is not advisable in 2025.

NVIDIA RTX 5060 and 5060 TI – New Technology, Old Problems

The RTX 5060 Ti comes to deliver excellent performance in 1440p gaming with the Blackwell architecture. They also support DLSS 4 resolution scaling technology and have prices starting at $379 for the 8 GB model and $429 for 16 GB. The RTX 5060 with 8 GB of RAM will sell for about $299.

While the $200 could sound attractive at first glance, 8 GB of RAM is starting to become obsolete in 2025 gaming standards. Don’t get me wrong, you will still be able to play games nicely with 8 GB Graphics Cards. In particular, when it sports advanced technologies like DLSS and Frame Gen. However, we are starting to hit its limits with the latest games.

At least 12 GB RAM is advisable, but it’s sad to see that NVIDIA didn’t opt for making a base model with such an amount. Curiously, this was already a problem that made some users upset with the 4060 series. After all, NVIDIA dropped the 12GB RAM option seen in the 3060 series.

    RTX 5060

The RTX 5060 is capable of delivering more than 100 FPS in popular games, with the DLSS 4 MFG (Multi-Frame-Gen) technology doubling the frame rate when compared to the past generation. According to NVIDIA, the RTX 5060 Ti offers up to 50 more graphics performance when compared to the old GPUs, like the GTX 1060 and GTX 1660. This is thanks to the new models implemented with the DLSS 4 technology. It promises better image quality, with improved performance and lower latency.

The RTX 5060 Ti is a more robust option. Perhaps, the real deal for those looking at NVIDIA’s 50 series entry-level. It delivers 4608 CUDA cores with 24 TFLOPs of performance for shadows. Furthermore, it has 759 AI TOPs and 72 TFLOPs for Ray-Tracing performance. It comes with GDDR7 technology. It offers 448 GB/s bandwidth and an increase of 55,5% in comparison to the RTX 4060 Ti.

The RTX 5060 Ti also supports PCIe Gen5 x8 tech and offers compatibility with 4K (480 Hz) or 8K (165 Hz) displays. This new lineup promises a significant update for players, especially those who are still using Pascal, Turing, and Ampere generations.
