  • Solo Leveling: Who Is Sung Jinwoo’s Most Loyal Shadow?

Sung Jinwoo becomes the most powerful entity alive after being awarded the power of the previous Shadow Monarch. After becoming the new Shadow Monarch, Jinwoo gets a power called Shadow Extraction that allows him to extract the shadows of his defeated enemies. Throughout the series, Jinwoo adds some of the most potent undead members to his shadow army. However, have you ever wondered who among the shadows is the most loyal to Sung Jinwoo? Here is everything you need to know about the new Shadow Monarch’s most loyal and powerful shadow.

    Spoiler Warning:

This post includes major spoilers for the Solo Leveling manhwa and anime, so proceed with caution. You’ve been warned.

Beru Is Jinwoo’s Most Loyal Shadow in Solo Leveling

Who would have thought that the Ant King, who was once the most dangerous threat to humanity, would eventually get a place in Sung Jinwoo’s shadow army? Being a Solo Leveling manhwa fan, I did, but that’s not the point here.

Image Credit: A-1 Pictures (via X/@sololeveling_pr)

After getting defeated in the Jeju Island Arc, Jinwoo extracted the Ant King’s shadow and added him to his growing shadow army. Before dying, the Ant King was guarding the Queen, so loyalty ran through his veins from the start. He was the strongest hidden boss of the S-Rank gate of Jeju Island, who killed the strongest Japanese S-rank hunter, Gyoto Ryuji.

Jinwoo’s strongest shadows, including Tusk and Igris, can’t match the level of the Ant King. So, it’s evident why Jinwoo doesn’t take much time to add him to his army after killing him during the Jeju island raid. Jinwoo named him Beru, and he soon turned out to be the most loyal shadow in his army. Beru is someone who would go beyond his limits to follow the instructions of his master.

Beru won Jinwoo’s trust by showcasing his loyalty several times, and that is the reason why, out of all the members of the Shadow army, his master picked him to test the abilities of Cha Hae-In in the Ahjin Guild arc (see Solo Leveling arcs list). Jinwoo knows that Beru wouldn’t harm his future wife, but when Cha Hae-In stabs Beru, he can’t resist attacking her. However, the ant’s shadow gains his sanity when Jinwoo steps in.

Beru proves his loyalty to Sung Jinwoo in the deadliest battles. For instance, in the Ahjin Guild arc, Jinwoo summons Beru and allows him to take his place when he discovers that Jinah’s life is in danger, and he must reach his sister to protect her.

Later, in the Monarchs War arc, when Querehsha and the Frost Monarch attack Jinwoo, Beru does not take long to assault them for trying to harm his master. He also heals Thomas Andre, one of the National level hunters, after the latter gets brutally injured in a duel to show gratitude, as the American hunter once helped his master in a fight against the Monarchs.

In Solo Leveling Ragnarok, when Jinwoo gets busy in the battle against the Itarim race in Outer space, he sends Beru to train his son, Sung Suho, to face the threats that loom over humankind in his absence.

Beru Isn’t The Only Loyal Soldier of Jinwoo’s Shadow Army

While Jinwoo adds Beru to his army, there is a mighty shadow named Bellion, who has been in the army since the start. He was one of Ashborn‘s most loyal lieutenants when he was the Shadow Monarch.

Later, when Ashborn chooses Jinwoo as his successor, Bellion doesn’t shy away from serving his new master. Unlike Beru, Bellion doesn’t often show off his emotions, but deep inside, he has been loyal to the former as well as the new Shadow Monarch.

He is the Grand Marshall of the shadow army, who takes his position very seriously and is also one of the strongest members of the army of the undead. Bellion hasn’t got the limelight in the anime so far, but we can assure you that he will surprise the fandom with his might whenever he does.

  • NCoS debunks reports of starvation in correctional centres

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has dismissed reports of starvation in the country’s custodial centres.

The Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO), Abubakar Umar, made the clarification in a chat with journalists on Tuesday in Abuja.

He was reacting to reports that inmates were dying of hunger in the facilities.

However, Umar dismissed the reports as “misleading, sensational, and grossly inaccurate.”

He stressed that the claims did not reflect the actual situation in the custodial facilities.

The spokesman said: “The Federal Government allocates funds specifically for the feeding of inmates, and the process is strictly monitored to ensure compliance with established standards.

“The allegation that inmates are dying of hunger is unfounded. There is no record in any of our custodial centres that inmates are being starved or dying because of inadequate feeding.

“It is completely false to insinuate that inmates are left to starve or that hunger is leading to deaths within our facilities.

“We want to assure the public that inmates are properly fed and their welfare remains a top priority for the Nigerian Correctional Service.

“I wonder how a journalist could claim to have interviewed inmates inside a custodial facility. These are high-security zones where you can’t just walk in, let alone carry recording devices.

“Even cameras and mobile phones are prohibited because of the risk of concealed recording. So, for anyone to say they interviewed inmates inside a custodial centre is nothing but a fabrication.”

    By Issy Ronald, CNN

(CNN) — Lil Nas X has said that he is experiencing partial paralysis in his face, as he posted a series of videos to social media from hospital on Monday.

In one video, the “Old Town Road” rapper attempts to smile from his hospital bed but only one half of his face complies while the other stays still. In the video caption, the 26-year-old said he’d “lost control of the right side of my face.”

“This is me doing a full smile right now by the way,” he said jokingly in the video. “It’s like, what the f**k? I can’t even laugh right bro.”

Seemingly in good spirits, Lil Nas X posted another video to his Instagram Stories, zooming in on one side of his face and saying, “we normal over here” before panning to the other side and saying, “we get crazy over here.”

To stop his fans from worrying for his health, the Grammy winner said he was “OK,” adding: “Stop being sad for me! Shake ur a** for me instead! Imma look funny for a lil bit but that’s it.”

The comments underneath his post were filled with wellwishes.

“Get well baby,” actress Taraji P. Henson said while actress Niecy Nash said, “Wishing you a speedy recovery.”

Lil Nas X didn’t reveal the cause of his condition.

CNN has contacted his representatives for comment.

He is not the first celebrity to suffer from a case of partial facial paralysis, which can have many different underlying causes.

Justin Bieber took a break from performing in 2022 after a case of Ramsay Hunt syndrome left him unable to move half of his face

Meanwhile, Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid suffered a case of Bell’s palsy, which causes sudden weakness in facial muscles, in April 2024 but was still able to play even though he said the condition was affecting his vision.

  • Champions League income for Manchester United revealed

Manchester United’s transfer ambitions for the summer are under threat as financial uncertainty clouds the club’s future plans.

With recruitment expected to be shaped by both sales and success on the pitch, Ruben Amorim’s side enter Thursday’s quarter-final second leg against Lyon knowing the result could define their entire transfer strategy.

The first leg in France ended all square in what was a fascinating clash that ended 2-2.

Two mistakes from Andre Onana saw him dropped from the Newcastle clash.

Fans will be hoping the team can regroup and progress through to the Semi-Finals without a repeat of silly individual mistakes.

United return to Old Trafford needing to produce their biggest performance of the season so far if they want to keep their European dreams alive.

Manchester United could receive hefty Champions League revenue

If they do – and go on to win the Europa League – Champions League qualification would generate up to £100 million in extra income, according to Chris Wheeler’s report for Daily Mail.

That financial boost could be the difference between affording priority transfer targets.

Or facing another year of tight restrictions in the market.

United are also expected to raise funds through player sales.

However, questions remain over how much they will bank.

The futures of homegrown stars Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo are still unresolved heading into the summer.

Although, although United would only make a £20 million profit after settling a portion of his £315,000-a-week wages.

    There’s also uncertainty over Antony.

Real Betis are set to attempt another loan extension amid his form.

As well as Jadon Sancho, who Chelsea could send back to United by triggering a £5 million penalty clause.

But with so many moving parts, Champions League qualification remains the clearest path to securing the transfer funds needed to reshape Amorim’s squad.

  • Advanced Micro Devices Prepares For First ‘Made-In America’ Chip

Advanced Micro Devices Prepares For First ‘Made-In America’ Chip

Ready To Start Production: Trump’s ‘America First’ agenda scores yet another win this week

(ZH) – President Trump’s ‘America First’ agenda—specifically, the revival of domestic critical supply chains to reinforce hemispheric defense—scored yet another win this week.

Reuters reported that Advanced Micro Devices’ most advanced processor chips would soon enter series production at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company’s (TSMC) factory in Arizona.

Our new fifth-generation EPYC is doing very well, so we’re ready to start production,” AMD Chief Executive Lisa Su told reporters in Taipei earlier, referring to the company’s server-grade processor line, designed for data centers, cloud computing, high-performance computing, and enterprise workloads.

Shifting AMD’s server-grade processor line to TSMC’s Arizona facility marks the first time the U.S. company will produce these chips domestically, eliminating the supply chain risks associated with manufacturing at TSMC’s Taiwan-based fabs.

We want to have a very resilient supply chain, so Taiwan continues to be a very important part of that supply chain, but the United States is also going to be important and we’re expanding our work there, including our work with TSMC and other key supply chain partners,” Su said.

News that AMD’s fifth-generation EPYC will be produced in America comes one day after Nvidia unveiled new initiatives aimed at strengthening America’s chip manufacturing sector:

    • Nvidia is localizing AI chip and supercomputer manufacturing in the U.S. for the first time, partnering with TSMC, Foxconn, Wistron, Amkor, and SPIL.
    • Over 1 million square feet of manufacturing space has been commissioned for Blackwell chips and AI supercomputers in Arizona and Texas.
    • Mass production of these chips is expected within 12–15 months.
    • Total AI infrastructure by Nvidia could total $500 billion over the next four years.

Restoring U.S. chipmaking capacity is critical for several reasons, but national security stands above all. China can easily disrupt chip supply chains in Taiwan—something that could send shockwaves around the world, impacting U.S. defense production of missiles, tanks, and other critical systems, many of which rely on chips fabricated overseas.

If the U.S. intends to compete—and win—in the 2030s, the ongoing expansion of domestic chip manufacturing is not just welcome news; it’s essential for survival.

  • Suspect identified in 1997 beating death of California man who was out for a walk

SAN JOSE, Calif. (TCN) — Investigators recently identified a man who died in 2022 as a suspect in the fatal beating of a victim whose body was found outside a home nearly 30 years ago.

On July 16, 1997, the San Jose Police Department responded to a report of an unconscious man on Boynton Avenue and found 28-year-old Karen Gevorkov. Officers said he had been “brutally attacked” and died of blunt force trauma. Despite their efforts, investigators were unable to identify a suspect or make any arrests at the time.

Gevorkov was allegedly last seen alive on the evening of July 15, 1997, walking with a friend near Starbird Park. Police said the surviving friend told officials that he and Gevorkov were “approached by three men when one attacked them” with a bat. The witness wasn’t able to identify the suspects, but investigators named Victor Ferguson as a person of interest.

According to an April 14 news release from police, a breakthrough in the case came in 2024, when, with the help of advanced DNA testing, Ferguson’s DNA matched to the victim’s clothing, “providing conclusive evidence of his involvement in the crime.” Officers also said that in 2016, a former inmate had come forward in 1997, “providing information implicating Ferguson” in Gevorkov’s cold case death, but Ferguson was never formally interviewed.

Ferguson reportedly moved to Kansas after the attack and died in 2022.

Chief of Police Paul Joseph said, “While justice may be delayed, the victim is never forgotten.”

San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan added, “Although the truth won’t bring him back, it brings answers and hopefully closure for a family who has been waiting for both for a long time now. I want to thank our police department for never giving up in the pursuit of justice — no matter how long it takes, we can all feel safer knowing that those who harm our community will always be found.”

  • Teen murder suspect released on bail; family plans to move

The family of the 17-year-old suspect who was arrested after fatally stabbing 17-year-old Austin Metcalf at a high school track meet in Frisco, Texas, earlier this month has revealed that it plans to use the funds raised for the suspect’s defense to move to a different house and hire security amid allegations of racist threats against the family.

According to Fox News, 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony was released from jail on Monday after his bond was reduced from $1 million to $250,000 on Monday morning. The outlet noted that the 17-year-old suspect currently faces first-degree murder charges related to the fatal stabbing of Metcalf.

Fox News reported that under the conditions of his bail release from jail, Anthony will be placed under house arrest, will be forced to wear an ankle monitor, and will not be able to leave his house without permission from a judge.

During a court hearing, Andrew Anthony, the suspect’s father, was asked why the family could not use over $415,000 in crowdsourced funds for Karmelo Anthony’s legal defense to cover the initial $1 million bond, according to The Daily Mail. The outlet reported that while the suspect’s father claimed the donations would be used to cover Anthony’s legal costs, he noted that the money would also be used to help the family move to a different location and for security costs due to alleged threats against the family in the aftermath of the fatal stabbing incident earlier this month.

READ MORE: Video/Pics: Teen stabbed to death at high school track meet

According to The Daily Mail, a family spokesperson claimed that the Anthony family has been unable to leave their home following the leak of their address online. The spokesperson claimed that the family has received “graphic and racist threats,” including images of “black children with knives stuck in their head.”

Michael Howard, Karmelo Anthony’s attorney, addressed the donations, saying, “It would be disingenuous to say there isn’t money… But it is not a bond fund. This family needs to be able to survive.”

According to Fox 4, Judge Angela Tucker, who presided over the bond court hearing, admitted that she has not previously experienced the level of security issues that have surrounded the 17-year-old’s case. During the hearing, the judge emphasized that it was only a bond hearing and not the actual trial in the case. The judge added that the purpose of a bond was to protect the community and make sure that a defendant appeared in court.

“I don’t take that lightly at all. I take those things very seriously,” the judge said. “There is no replacement for the loss of life or the loss of a child. I don’t want the family to think a bond amount is connected to the dignity of loss. You cannot make the person come back.”

  • Trump Rejects Court Order Blocking Deportation Of 500,000 Immigrants

President Donald Trump’s administration has vowed to challenge a federal court order blocking its plan to deport more than 500,000 immigrants currently protected under a humanitarian parole programme.

The U.S. District Judge, Indira Talwani, had on Monday issued the injunction allowing beneficiaries of the Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan, and Venezuelan (CHNV) parole programme launched under former President Joe Biden’s administration to remain in the U.S. while pursuing immigration benefits.

Speaking to reporters at the White House on Tuesday, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, criticised the ruling and expressed the administration’s intention to appeal it.

“I spoke to the White House counsel’s office about this this morning because obviously, another rogue district court judge is trying to block the administration’s mass deportation efforts with this latest injunction,” Leavitt said.

“We will fight this in the court of law,” she declared.

The CHNV programme allowed hundreds of thousands from crisis-stricken countries to enter the U.S. legally under humanitarian grounds.

The Trump administration has been seeking to dismantle the programme, arguing that it encourages irregular migration and overburdens the immigration system.

“We will continue to focus on deporting as many individuals as we can,” Leavitt added, stating the administration’s aggressive stance on immigration enforcement.

Despite the administration’s criticism of the judiciary, Leavitt assured reporters that the White House is abiding by legal directives.

“We’re very confident that every action taken by this administration is within the confines of law. And we are complying with all court orders,” Leavitt said.

  • Here’s what happens if you don’t file your taxes – Paradise Post

    By Allison Martin, Bankrate.com

The tax-filing deadline is typically April 15 each year. If you can’t make that deadline, it’s easy to get a six-month extension for filing your return, though your tax payment is still due by April 15.

But what happens if you don’t file taxes by either of those deadlines? The consequences are very different depending on whether you’re expecting a tax refund or you owe the IRS money.

What happens if you don’t file and you don’t owe taxes?

If you don’t owe any taxes or if you’re owed a refund, there’s no penalty for not filing your tax return. But you won’t receive your refund until you do file.

There won’t be a penalty for filing late — just get your paperwork to the IRS so they can process your taxes and issue the refund. You have up to three years after the due date of your return to claim your tax refund.

Most Americans get a tax refund after filing their tax return. This happens because you’ve paid more in taxes over the year than you owe. Often, this is because most employers withhold money from each paycheck, which goes toward your taxes, but that withholding typically doesn’t account for tax credits and other tax benefits you may be eligible for, so the government has to pay you back in the form of a tax refund.

Every year, the IRS announces that hundreds of thousands of taxpayers are about to miss the deadline to claim their tax refund; the most recent announcement, in March 2024, said that $1 billion in unpaid refunds from 2021 was about to be relinquished by taxpayers.

If you didn’t file in the last few years, consider getting a tax return filed soon so you can get any money that’s owed to you.

What happens if you don’t file, and you owe taxes?

If you owe a tax bill and you haven’t filed your tax return, then the first step is to file your tax return, or a tax extension, as soon as you can, even if you can’t pay your bill just yet. You want to get your tax return filed because the failure to file penalty is much steeper than the failure to pay penalty.

    Failure to file penalty

If you don’t file a tax return and you owe money to the IRS, you’ll face a failure to file penalty of 5% each month on any unpaid taxes, capped at 25%, plus interest. Here’s how it breaks down:

—First month: 5% of tax liability

—Second month: 5% of tax liability (after 60 days of being late, the minimum failure to file penalty is $485 or 100% of your tax liability, whichever is less)

—Third month: 5% of tax liability

—Fourth month: 5% of tax liability

—Fifth month: 5% of tax liability

There are some situations, including natural disasters and military service, for which the IRS will forgive failure to file penalties. But unless you fall under one of those exceptions, expect to pay the penalty.

State laws vary considerably, so check what your local laws are for failure to file. (Check your state’s income and sales tax rates.)

What happens if you pay taxes late?

Failing to pay your tax bill by the April 15 deadline also comes with a penalty and interest, though that penalty is lower than the failure to file penalty.

    Failure to pay penalty

Each month that you fail to pay your taxes in full will result in the IRS assessing a penalty of 0.5% of your total tax liability. This will continue each month, maxing out at 25% of your total tax bill. (A six-month extension to file your tax return doesn’t apply to your payment. You don’t get more time to pay; you only get more time to file your return.)

There is also interest owed on any outstanding taxes. The interest will be determined by the current federal short-term interest rate plus an additional 3%. The short-term rate changes every three months, so your interest rate may go up or down depending on how long it takes to pay your tax bill in full.

For the first and second quarter of 2025, the interest rate for underpayment is 7% (see this IRS page for interest rate updates).

State laws vary considerably, so check what your local laws are for failure to pay.

What happens if you haven’t paid your taxes in years?

If you’ve avoided paying your taxes for a while, the IRS may seek to recover those funds from you in a number of ways, including garnishing wages from your paycheck, placing a lien on your home or other high-value property or coming directly for your bank account. The IRS will also withhold future tax refunds until your tax bill has been paid down.

There are other potential penalties, as well. In some cases, if you owe more than $62,000 in taxes in 2024 (the dollar amount adjusts for inflation each year), the government may refuse to issue you a passport. The IRS may also choose to refer your outstanding tax payment to a private collections agency, which will likely be more aggressive in attempting to recover the funds. The IRS can seek to have people jailed for unpaid tax debt, but that’s highly unusual.

Generally, the IRS has 10 years to collect on unpaid taxes. However, there are exceptions to this, and situations where that 10-year period can get extended.

Steps to take if you’re behind on taxes

Dealing with outstanding tax debt can be stressful, and for some people it may feel easier to ignore the situation. But addressing the issue can save you anxiety and money in the long run. Here are two steps to get started:

—Determine how much you owe: Before you can start paying, you need to know just how much you owe the IRS. You can determine this by requesting your transcripts from the IRS. Even if you haven’t filed taxes in years, you will be able to see the information the IRS has on hand and see how much the agency says you owe.

—File your taxes: If you haven’t filed your taxes yet, do that. Contact your employers and ask for a copy of your tax documents. They should be able to provide these records. Upon filing, you may find that you are owed a refund. If you have a history of good tax compliance, it’s possible to get some of the fees abated under administrative penalty relief, but specific rules apply.

What to do if you can’t afford to pay taxes

If you can’t afford to pay your taxes, your best bet is to contact the IRS to work out a payment plan. The agency is more interested in collecting what it can than penalizing you, and is likely to work with you to set up a payment plan or an installment agreement.

If you can’t pay your tax debt in full, research the IRS’s resources for dealing with tax debt. You may qualify for an offer in compromise, which lets you pay less than you owe, or you might qualify to delay collection of your debt.

An Opp man was killed in a single-vehicle car crash Monday morning.

Michael J. Wilson, 30, of Opp was found unresponsive and trapped inside a vehicle when first responders arrived at the scene of the crash on Perry Store Road.

According to the Opp Police Department, officers responded to a report of the accident at approximately 8:18 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found a 2004 GMC Yukon in a ditch on the west-bound sound of the road.

Officials with the Opp Fire Department and Haynes Ambulance Service also responded to the scene and used hydraulic rescue tools to gain entry to the vehicle and extricate Wilson, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Officials said the preliminary investigation suggests the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree before coming to rest in the ditch.

The accident remains under investigation by the OPD. Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency assisted at the scene.
