  • How terrorists k!lled our men, burnt their vehicles in Kebbi – Customs

The Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has revealed how terrorists k!lled three of its officers in an attack in Kebbi State.

Adeniyi made this known during a working visit to the Niger/Kogi Area Command of the Nigerian Customs Service.

He also raised concerns over the presence of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) at the Babanna/Benin Republic border in Borgu LGA of Niger State, describing it as a serious threat to effective border patrol operations.

According to him, customs officers recently escaped an ambush from ISWAP after seizing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, from smugglers operating at the Babanna border.

The smugglers are believed to be supplying fuel to terrorists and bandits.

Represented by the Assistant Comptroller General of Customs in charge of Finance, Administration, and Special Duties, and National Coordinator of Operation Whirlwind, Hussein Kehinde Ejibunu, the Comptroller General urged officers to remain vigilant and prepared for possible assaults from terrorists.

He also called for strengthened collaboration with sister security agencies to ensure seamless border patrol and combat the smuggling of crude oil across borders.

He disclosed that aircraft and other aerial surveillance equipment have been procured to support ground patrol operations.

“Three of our officers were recently k!lled in Bachaka, Kebbi State. They were given a surprise attack. They shelled them, burnt their vehicles and shot at all of them. Three officers d!ed,” he stated.

“ISWAPS are the ones operating at Babanna/Benin Republic Border in Borgu LGA of Niger State just as we have the Lakurawas along the other side while at Borno axis, we have the Boko Haram. So, we have all these people terrorizing the country and they are not Nigerians but they live in our midst. That is why I always emphasise on the need for citizens to report suspicious people to law enforcement agencies

“The day our officers went out on patrol during which these 500 jerricans of Premium Motor Spirit popularly know as petrol were confiscated, at Babanna, just by whiskers they escaped from ISAWAP people. So, all we need now is concrete intelligence to enable those saddled with the responsibility of exterminating these terrorist groups take effective actions.”

He said the Customs Service had continued to work in collaboration with sister security agencies to put a stop to smuggling of crude across borders.

“It would interest you to know that most of these bandits attacking us get their fuel through smugglers, giving the adversaries the power to move around to attack citizens.

“From intelligence, we have gathered that some terrorists are within the Border between Niger State and Benin at Babanna Benin Republic Border. Therefore, we need absolute vigilance; do not sleep with your two eyes closed. Some other time, some officers were attacked. Just the very day I went to Kebbi, to do similar showcasing, on our way back, our officers were attacked at one of the borders and they were killed by Lakurawa. So, don’t be jittery; be vigilant,” he added.

  • Family Seeks Justice After Security Guard Dies ‘Under Torture’ At Notorious Akwuzu Police Custody In Anambra

The grieving family of Mr. Lubem Ordoo Ayagwa has petitioned the Anambra State Commissioner of Police over the alleged torture and murder of their son while in the custody of the notoriously feared Rapid Response Squad (RRS) at the Awkuzu Police Command in Anambra State.

The petition was submitted by Mr. Francis, a human rights activist and presenter with City Radio 89.7FM, on behalf of the late Mr. Ayagwa’s family, the Tiv community in Anambra State, and their traditional ruler, His Royal Highness Ambrose Iortyer.

In the petition, the family outlined the harrowing circumstances surrounding Ayagwa’s death, accusing officers of the Awkuzu RRS of gross human rights violations and abuse of power.

According to the petition, Mr. Lubem, a native of Ushongo Local Government Area in Benue State, was a licensed security guard deployed by the Red Guard Security Company to a commercial plaza opposite the building materials market on the Onitsha-Awka Expressway.

However, trouble began when a shop owner in the plaza alleged the disappearance of items worth N17.5 million and, rather than reporting to the plaza management or the security company, called in officers from Ogidi Police Division.

The three security guards on duty, along with the plaza’s manager, were arrested and later transferred to RRS (Rapid Response Squad) Awkuzu.

It was during their detention at the RRS Awkuzu that Mr. Lubem allegedly died under suspicious circumstances.

“This petition is supported by credible accounts from the management of Red Guard Security Company, a duly registered private security outfit that lawfully deployed the deceased to a commercial plaza along opposite building materials market Onitsha-Awka Express Road, Anambra State,” the petitioners noted.

The petitioners said, “Despite appeals from the security company to allow internal investigations, the shop owner insisted on immediate payment and influenced the police to escalate the matter.

“The suspects were transferred to RRS Awkuzu, where all external communication and access to them were denied.”

The petition noted that a Red Guard official was informed casually by an RRS officer that Mr. Lubem had died in custody, allegedly due to “torture by co-inmates.”

However, eyewitnesses and fellow detainees contradicted this version, claiming the deceased was brutally tortured by police officers themselves.

His corpse was later discovered at Nnewi Teaching Hospital after being rejected by Onitsha General Hospital, further deepening suspicion of foul play.

The petitioners stated, “It is reliably gathered that in RRS Awkuzu, the suspects, including Mr. Lubem, were subjected to brutal torture.

“When the security company protested, they were ignored. The tension led to the company submitting a petition requesting a transfer of the case to the State CID, Awka, which was approved.

“Shockingly, only two out of the three arrested guards were presented at the point of transfer. Mr. Lubem was unaccounted for.

“An officer at RRS Awkuzu casually informed the company that Mr. Lubem had died in custody, allegedly due to torture by co-inmates.

“This claim was contradicted by eyewitnesses and co-suspects, who confirmed that the police themselves inflicted the torture.

“His corpse was later found at Nnewi Teaching Hospital, having first been rejected by Onitsha General Hospital, indicating serious injury or suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.”

The petition noted that even more troubling is the curious release of the shop owner, initially considered a key suspect, without a formal investigation, raising concerns about bias and possible collusion.

“The shop manager who should have been a primary suspect was curiously released without due investigation, raising questions of bias and conspiracy,” the petitioners stated.

Citing violations of multiple sections of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution, including the right to dignity, liberty, and presumption of innocence, the petitioners asserted that the case must not be buried under bureaucracy.

“The actions of the involved officers and civilian actors amount to serious violations of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), including Section 34(1)(a), Right to dignity of the human person; Section 35(1), Right to personal liberty; Section 36(5), Presumption of innocence; Section 46(1), Right to legal redress.

“These violations depict a troubling disregard for the rule of law, professionalism, and human rights,” the petitioners stated.

The petitioners, therefore, demanded: “A full, independent, and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mr. Lubem’s arrest, detention, torture, and death, and immediate suspension and prosecution of all RRS Awkuzu officers involved.”

They further demanded: “A thorough probe into the actions of Ogidi Police Division, particularly regarding the shop manager’s release.”

They also called for the “immediate arrest and investigation of the shop owner (linked to Nolin Ventures Ltd) for unlawful involvement and complicity.

“A comprehensive autopsy and release of all hospital records, including any CCTV footage or bodycam evidence, if available.

“Public apology and compensation to the bereaved family for their irreparable loss.

“A formal update from SCID Awka on the current status of the investigation, and arrest and prosecution of any civilian accomplices or conspirators involved in this incident.”

They also demanded a strong statement and assurance from the office of the Anambra State Commissioner of Police that such abuses will not be tolerated under his leadership.

“We passionately appeal to your esteemed office to take decisive action,” the petitioners wrote.

“This case must not be swept under the rug. Justice must not only be done, but be seen to be done to restore public confidence in the Nigerian Police Force and deter future abuses of power.”

  • How to Fast Travel in RuneScape DragonWilds

RuneScape DragonWilds has a massive world, and it is not ideal to walk around all the time due to the grinding nature of the game. It can be annoying going back and forth when farming materials or exploring. Thankfully, the game offers fast travel using Lodestones, which can be crafted and placed by the players. However, Lodestones are not unlocked at the start of the game, and players must unlock the recipe, get the materials, and build it first to use it. Want to know how? Here is a complete guide on how to fast travel in RuneScape DragonWilds.

How to Get Vault Cores in RuneScap DragonWilds

The first thing you need to do is find Vault Cores to unlock the Lodestone recipe. Vault Cores are only found inside Dragonkin Vaults in RuneScape DragonWilds. Here is how you can find the vaults and the Vault Cores:

    • Vaults are marked with a blue symbol on the map, and they are a sort of Dungeon in RuneScape DragonWilds. We have marked four early vaults in RuneScape DragonWilds in the image below.
    • Enter the Vaults and look for rooms with Vault Guardians. After defeating them, you will find Vault Cores on a pedestal before illuminated statues.
    • Collect the Vault Cores to unlock the Lodestone recipe and return to your base.

  • Study: Black Women Less Likely To Get Same-Day Biopsies After Abnormal Mammogram Results

A new study reveals that Black women are significantly less likely than white women to receive same-day biopsies following abnormal mammogram results—even at facilities equipped to provide immediate follow-up care.

By Kiara Doyal, The Seattle Medium

A recent study led by Dr. Marissa Lawson, assistant professor of radiology at the University of Washington School of Medicine, reveals that Black women are significantly less likely than white women to receive same-day biopsies following abnormal mammogram results—even at facilities equipped to provide immediate follow-up care.

The retrospective study analyzed data from over 1.1 million women aged 40–89 who underwent more than 3.5 million screening mammograms between January 2010 and December 2020. The study spanned 136 screening facilities across six U.S. states, all part of the Breast Cancer Surveillance Consortium. Participants self-identified as white (68%), Black (13%), Asian (10%), Hispanic/Latinx (6.5%), and “All others” (2%).

“When the radiologist identifies an area of the breasts on the mammogram that does not look like normal breast tissue and cannot be categorized as a benign finding, additional evaluation is recommended,” said Lawson. “That would be considered an abnormal screening mammogram.”

“We’re looking at how the diagnostic workup process might contribute to the population disparities we see with breast-cancer outcomes,” added Lawson. “It was surprising to find similar availability (of technologies) across racial and ethnic groups. But we still saw big differences in who was getting those same-day services.”

The study found that Black women were significantly less likely than white women to receive same-day diagnostic imaging and biopsies after an abnormal mammogram.

“Our study was unable to pinpoint that. Based on our findings, it does not appear to be due to differences in the technologies available at the facilities where Black women obtain their screening mammograms,” said Lawson.

“On average, about 10 out of 100 women undergoing breast cancer screening will be recalled for further evaluation after a screening mammogram. Most of these women do not have cancer, but additional imaging and sometimes biopsies are necessary to make this determination. Among Black women, about 131 women per 100,000 are diagnosed with breast cancer each year,” she added.

In an effort to change the narrative of racial disparities for Black women in health care, Lawson believes additional research is needed.

“Additional research to identify key drivers of disparities are necessary to help develop targeted interventions to reduce disparities in breast cancer care and breast cancer outcomes,” Lawson said.

According to Lawson, outside of race, many social and economic factors likely impact access to breast cancer-related healthcare. She said that limited insurance coverage and high imaging costs can significantly hinder access to proper healthcare. Additionally, internal policies and procedures at healthcare institutions may also influence the way patients are treated.

With the multilevel analysis, the researchers hoped to shed light on how factors such as race and ethnicity, household income, and neighborhood educational attainment affected access to and use of breast cancer diagnostics.

In the study, they first identified which consortium facilities offered onsite access to both standard-care and advanced diagnostics and biopsy. They then measured patients’ access to these capabilities, discerned which screening mammograms yielded an abnormal result, and evaluated those patients’ receipt of diagnostic imaging and biopsy on the same day and within 90 days at facilities that had the technology and capability onsite.

“The Breast Cancer Surveillance Consortium (BCSC) is a network of breast imaging registries conducting research to assess and improve the delivery and quality of breast cancer screening and related patient outcomes in the United States,” said Lawson. “Individual imaging facilities across several states contribute imaging and pathology data to the BCSC to make this research possible.”

While Lawson said that breast imaging facilities must provide patients with a summary of their results within 30 calendar days of their screening examination, due to the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA), a federal law regulating the quality and safety of mammography services, which mandates that facilities provide patients with a written report, or “lay report,” summarizing the results in easy-to-understand language within 30 days. This helps ensure patients have direct access to their results and can engage in informed decision-making about their breast health. She believes that there is still more work that could be done to work towards eliminating the delay and racial disparity that Black women face in health care.

“In my opinion, increased coverage of breast imaging examinations by health insurance companies would help remove financial barriers to timely resolution of abnormal breast imaging examinations. In addition, facilities can actively review and update their processes to ensure they are providing equitable care to all patients,” Lawson said. “For example, facilities can provide patient navigators to help patients make and keep necessary appointments.”

Lawson said it is important to raise awareness for the racial disparities that Black women face in healthcare because they are dying from breast cancer at higher rates compared to White women.

“Despite advances in breast imaging and breast cancer treatment, Black women continue to die from breast cancer at higher rates compared to White women. We need to understand disparities in the entire care pathway from screening, diagnosis, and treatment to survivorship to be able to reduce breast cancer mortality for all women and eliminate the gap between Black and White women,” said Lawson.

  • Borussia Dortmund look to sign Manchester United midfielder this summer

Manchester United are looking to have a busy summer as they aim to remodel their squad to rebuild the club under Ruben Amorim’s leadership.

This season has been the worst on record, with it being clear that Amorim needs to sign a reliable striker and goalkeeper this summer, to have any hope of improving next season.

The Red Devils do however, have a wealth of talent in their younger ranks, coming through the academy or having recently graduated to the reserve squad.

Players like Chido Obi, Harry Amass and Toby Collyer have all featured in the senior squad this season, whilst several others have gone out on loan to get more match experience.

It’s expected that the same will be the case for the coming summer, with some of the United youngsters on the fringe of graduating from the academy set for more competitive experience.

Now, Sam C has reported that young midfielder Jayce Fitzgerald could be one of those going out on loan, with Borussia Dortmund after his signature.

It’s understood that Dortmund and several Dutch clubs have made contact with Untied for the midfielder who has recently returned from injury, getting back involved in full training.

The 17-year-old currently plays for United’s Under-18s, showing off his versatility playing in central midfield, whilst also being used in a more attacking position and to cover centre-back.

Fitzgerald has already made 43 appearances for the Under-18s across the last three seasons, grabbing six goals and four assists.

However, it’s not just at club level he’s making a name for himself, with the youngster also being called up to England’s Under-17s side in 2023.

It’s unknown as of yet how United feel about a potential loan, with Fitzgerald having sat on the bench as a back-up option for a handful of senior games already.

  • Using American Lawfare to Halt Israel Warfare in Gaza

Using American Lawfare to Halt Israel Warfare in Gaza

    The Vela Incident

INTRO BY GLOBAL AFFAIRS via The Liberty Beacon

On December 8, 2016, a CIA-funded panel of scientists determined that a flash detected by a U.S. Vela satellite over the South Atlantic on September 22, 1979, likely indicated a nuclear test jointly conducted by Israel and apartheid South Africa, as reported by the National Security Archive and the Nuclear Proliferation International History Project. A White House panel later disputed this, deeming the nuclear test theory improbable. However, in 1980, new evidence prompted a senior U.S. intelligence official to call the White House’s findings a ‘whitewash’ driven by politics.

The debate over the ‘September 22 Event’ persists, with speculation about Israel’s possible collaboration with apartheid South Africa for a nuclear test. Recent revelations from declassified documents by a U.S. representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Ambassador-at-Large, Gerard C. Smith, at the National Archives shed light on the Vela controversy and the U.S. government’s convenient response. In 1979, Israel engaged in actions aimed at concealing or eliminating evidence related to its detection of a nuclear test. Both Republican and Democratic administrations subsequently acquiesced to this situation, leading the U.S. government to maintain a façade of ignorance regarding the existence of Israeli nuclear weapons. Perhaps what is less known is the 1969  agreement, which was established between President Richard Nixon and Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir, wherein Israel committed to refraining from declaring or testing its nuclear arsenal, while the United States agreed to avoid exerting pressure on Israel to endorse a significant nonproliferation treaty (NPT).

Today, Israel and the US are gaslighting the World by using the Iran Nuclear topic as a smokescreen to deflect the public’s attention from the atrocities of the Gaza genocide. For many years, presidents of the United States and congressional representatives have deliberately ignored Israel’s significant breaches of American legislation, however, there has hardly been a better time for using American lawfare to halt Israel’s warfare in Gaza and expose the hypocrisy surrounding Israel’s nuclear ambiguity strategy…

IMAGE: The Vela Incident: Secret Nuclear Test from an Unknown Power? (Source: Historic Mysteries)

James Bamford writes for THE NATION...

The Nuclear Explosion That Makes US Aid to Israel Illegal

Israel’s nuclear program has been in violation of international law for decades, rendering it ineligible for American assistance.

The researchers were startled as they looked up and saw the coal-black sky suddenly turn into a brilliant, multicolored aurora. As geophysicists with Tokyo’s Earthquake Research Institute, they were wintering over at an isolated ice station near Antarctica’s Queen Maud Land, a place where the temperature has dropped to as low as minus-50 degrees Fahrenheit. At about the same time, half the earth away in Puerto Rico, the giant 1,000-foot Arecibo radio telescope picked up an unusual disturbance. An odd and powerful electromagnetic ripple appeared on the lower surface of the ionosphere. And 1,200 miles to the north on the Atlantic coast of Florida, in a secret US government lab, long thin styluses like a spider’s legs began swinging back and forth tracing two hump-shaped images on a rolling sheet of graph paper.

The computer’s action was triggered by a signal from a satellite in the frigid blackness of deep space, 67,000 miles above Earth. Shaped like a giant, 26-sided Christmas tree ornament and hanging weightlessly in the empty void, VELA 6911 was one of a series of satellites designed to act as America’s sentinels in space, watching for signs of nuclear detonations on any part of the planet. And in the early morning of September 22, 1979, at 00:52:43 UTC, VELA 6911’s sensitive instruments recorded what appeared to be a very bright flash, followed quickly by a second.

They were the classic indicators of a powerful nuclear explosion. Somewhere down below, as close as someone can come to terra incognita, a rogue country had set off a nuclear bomb. A rogue country that was hoping not to get caught. It was the first and only time in history that a clandestine nuclear blast has taken place. And based on its analysis, US intelligence agencies concluded that the rogue country was Israel.

Now, 45 years later, that explosion could play a significant role in bringing an end to Israel’s genocidal assault on Gaza by using American lawfare to halt Israeli warfare—finally enforcing US laws that would cut off all aid, including the billions and billions of dollars and the tons and tons of weapons Israel now receives. For decades, these laws, enacted by Congress to halt harmful and destructive actions by rogue actors, have been deliberately ignored with regard to Israel. Clearly, they must now be enforced.

Just this week, Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur on human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, issued a report titled, “Anatomy of a Genocide.” It declared that “there are reasonable grounds to believe that the threshold indicating the commission of the crime of genocide against Palestinians as a group in Gaza has been met.” A few days earlier, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights had warned that “any transfer of weapons or ammunition to Israel” could violate international humanitarian law. This week, a Gallup poll indicated that most Americans disapprove of Israel’s war in Gaza as well as of sending them military aid to fight it.

Hours after the sky lit up from the blast, confirmation that it was a nuclear explosion came from another US government facility, this one on remote Ascension Island. A bleak and rugged volcanic speck in the middle of the South Atlantic Ocean, it lies near the equator between Africa and South America and is one of the most secret places on the planet. No one is allowed on the island without the approval of the US and British governments. In addition to a massive British eavesdropping base that targets countries on both continents, the island is also home to an American facility that monitors all undersea activity throughout the Atlantic. And because, at a certain depth, hydroacoustic signals travel through the water at about 5,000 feet per second, the sound of the massive blast was detected about 110 minutes after it took place.

In the netherworld of US intelligence, the rogue atomic explosion was shocking. The Jimmy Carter White House was quickly notified, and, following a series of highly classified meetings, spy agencies became unanimous in their view. “The Intelligence Community has high confidence, after intense technical scrutiny of satellite data, that a low-yield atmospheric nuclear explosion occurred in the early morning hours of September 22,” said a Secret/Sensitive Department of State document.

Attention, as a result, turned immediately to Israel. Its nuclear facility in the desert at Dimona had long since ceased to be a secret, and the question wasn’t whether Israel could construct a nuclear weapon but how many it had already built. However, while constructing them secretly inside a building is one thing, secretly testing them out in the open without getting caught is much more difficult. Addressing the issue of “A Secret Test by Israel,” another CIA document outlined a number of reasons the state might have wanted to carry out a hidden nuclear test. Among them was “developing the fission trigger [an atom bomb] for a thermonuclear weapon [an hydrogen bomb]…. A low-yield nuclear test conducted clandestinely at sea could have enabled them to make basic measurements of the device’s performance.”

The report concluded, “Indeed, of all the countries which might have been responsible for the 22 September event, Israel would probably have been the only one for which a clandestine approach would have been virtually its only option.” And President Carter noted in his White House dairy at the time, “We have a growing belief among our scientists that the Israelis did indeed conduct a nuclear test explosion in the ocean near the southern end of Africa.”

The VELA satellite system was designed in particular to watch for rogue tests by nuclear pariah states like Israel, one of the very few countries that had refused to sign both the 1970 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and the 1975 Biological Weapons Convention, in spite of the fact that it had an illegal hidden arsenal of nuclear weapons and a secret biological weapons program. The problem for Israel—and a key reason for the secrecy involving the tests—was the Glenn Amendment to the US Arms Export Control Act. Passed by Congress in 1977, the amendment aimed particularly at the nuclear pariah states. It mandated an end to arms assistance, and an automatic application of extensive US sanctions, if the president determined that any state (other than the nuclear states authorised by the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty) detonated a nuclear explosive after 1977. The nuclear test was also a clear violation of the 1963 Limited Test Ban Treaty, to which Israel was a party.

Under US law, Israel must be banned from receiving its annual package of billions of dollars and arsenal of bombs. In a 2016 Haaretz column, Victor Gilinsky, a physicist and former commissioner of the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, laid out the penalties: “The sanctions for detonating a nuclear explosion are tough: termination of assistance under the Foreign Assistance Act, termination of sales of defense equipment and military financing, prohibition of loans from US banks, and more. In other words, if the U.S. government were to conclude Israel detonated a nuclear explosion after 1977, the law, unless waived, would effectively end all US aid to Israel.” Newell Highsmith, who spent three decades with the State Department and was responsible for legal issues related to nonproliferation, agrees. “Glenn Amendment sanctions for detonation or receipt of a nuclear explosive device have been viewed as a ‘death sentence’ because of the breadth of sanctions and because there is no presidential waiver,” he wrote last year for the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

In addition to the violation of the Glenn Amendment, Israel is also in violation of the Symington Amendment, which has similar penalties for any country that delivers nuclear materials and technology to another country. Israel had a long history of friendship and cooperation with apartheid South Africa, and in addition to supplying millions of dollars worth of weapons to help violently suppress the country’s Black majority population, it also provided nuclear weapons materials and offered to sell the racist regime nuclear warheads to keep it in power. In return, Israel received uranium from South Africa to develop its weapons.

For decades, US presidents and members of Congress have willfully turned a blind eye to Israel’s extensive violations of American laws. [in 2024], Maryland Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen and seven other senators, including Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Jeff Merkley of Oregon, sent a strong letter to President Joe Biden. It urged him to enforce section 6201 of the Foreign Assistance Act by requiring Israel to stop restricting humanitarian aid access to Gaza or forfeit military aid from the US. The law prohibits the sale and transfer of military weapons to any nation that restricts the delivery of US aid, precisely what Israel is doing in its deliberate war of starvation against Palestinian civilians in Gaza. “We need the president and the Biden administration to push harder and to use all the levers of US policy to ensure people don’t die of starvation,” Van Hollen told The Guardian.

At the same time that US administrations were failing to enforce the ban on nuclear weapons testing by Israel, they also deliberately engaged in a campaign of censorship, lies, and disinformation to hide the truth from the American public. The Clinton White House even promulgated a regulation that threatens past and present government employees with harsh actions, including firing, if they publicly acknowledge that Israel has nuclear weapons. “All US government employees are forced to pretend they know nothing about Israeli nuclear weapons,” former NRC commissioner Gilinsky wrote in the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. “Since everyone knows it’s not true, the pretense hobbles America’s policy on restraining the spread of nuclear weapons in the Middle East.”

Because of this official gag order, Americans are deliberately kept in the dark regarding the dangerousness of Israel’s illegal stockpile of nuclear weapons—weapons that have never been subject to international inspection and are therefore of questionable safety. And then there is the problem of that secret cache of nuclear weapons being controlled by a number of top Israeli officials whose extreme positions would sanction their use. Last November, Israeli Minister Amichai Eliyahu said one of Israel’s options in the war is to drop a nuclear bomb on Gaza. “That’s one way,” he said. Another Israeli official, Revital “Tally” Gotliv, urged her government to use “everything in its arsenal,” including “doomsday” weapons, against Hamas. “Who would have imagined that, just as we have been worrying about Pakistani weapons falling into the hands of Islamic fanatics, we would come to the point where we have to fear Israel’s nuclear weapons falling into the hands of Israeli fanatics?” said Gilinsky.

With hundreds of drone attacks in the region and missiles flying back and forth, there is also the danger of one of them deliberately or accidentally hitting Israel’s Dimona nuclear weapons plant and setting off a nuclear catastrophe. Last October, according to Israeli reports, “Incoming rocket sirens are sounding in the Southern Negev region, close to the southern city of Dimona.” Adding to the danger is more than half a century’s worth of volatile nuclear waste, numbering hundreds of tons, in shallow trenches at the nuclear weapons complex—material that, unless carefully disposed of, could turn Dimona into another Chernobyl.

Americans are being deliberately lied to by their own government as to Israel’s vast and deadly nuclear stockpile, largely built with nuclear materials stolen from the United States. For those on Capitol Hill and in the White House, the incentive for keeping Israel’s secret—and thus allowing it to avoid US laws—is money and power. Millions in campaign donations from wealthy pro-Israel supporters and PACs, and power from lobbies like AIPAC. In 1979, rather than take any actions against Israel, President Carter, like those in the White House before and after him, did nothing. Carter has acknowledged this in years since, writing that the “reluctance to criticize any policies of the Israeli government is because of the extraordinary lobbying efforts” of AIPAC.

The strength of AIPAC is something CNN’s Wolf Blitzer knows a great deal about. Before his gig with cable news, he was a top propagandist for AIPAC. There is, he noted, “a widely held attitude among Israeli officials that Israel can get away with the most outrageous things. There is a notion among many Israelis that their American counterparts are not too bright, that they can be ‘handled.’”

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders apparently agrees, having repeatedly warned that Israel is violating both international and US laws. “To pretend that Israel is not violating international law or interfering with US humanitarian aid is absurd on its face,” he said. “The State Department’s position makes a mockery of US law and assurances provided to Congress.” Nevertheless, he concluded that “relatively few Democrats are prepared to pull the trigger and say, ‘You know what, hey, Mr. Netanyahu. You continue that and you’re not getting another nickel in American aid.’ Why’s that so? I guess it has a lot to do with AIPAC.”

Sanders then pointed his finger at the White House. “And it’s a lot to do with the president,” he said. Indeed, Joe Biden, during his time in the Senate, was the number-one recipient in Congress of pro-Israel millions—which apparently put him at the top of Israel’s list of “not-too-bright American politicians” that can be “handled” with bags of cash. While vice president in 2011, Biden gave an address to a group of fundraisers and supporters of the Yeshiva Beth Yehuda school in Detroit. “I’ve raised more money from AIPAC than some of you have,” he said to applause. “You think I’m kidding, don’t you,” he added. “I’m not.”

For the White House and Congress, it’s time to rip off the gag, stop being “handled,” reject the cash, and enforce the law with Israel—including the Glenn and Symington amendments. If its leaders want to secretly explode nuclear weapons, sell nuclear materials to racist countries, violate treaties, commit war crimes, and engage in ethnic genocide, America’s billions, bombs, and backing should not be making it possible.

  • School shooter arrested; 5 hospitalized in Texas

Five students were hospitalized after being shot by a teenage suspect at Wilmer-Hutchins High School in Dallas, Texas, on Tuesday. The teenage suspect later turned himself in following the shooting.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by WFAA, 17-year-old Tracy Haynes, a student at Wilmer-Hutchins, has been identified as the suspect responsible for Tuesday’s school shooting, which triggered a massive response by police officials and major evacuations at the school.

WFAA reported that Dallas Fire-Rescue quickly responded to the shooting, which took place at roughly 1 p.m. on Tuesday. According to the arrest affidavit, school surveillance cameras documented the moment Haynes was let into the school by an unidentified student at an unsecured door at roughly 1:03 p.m. The affidavit noted that Haynes walked down a hallway before approaching multiple male students, displaying a firearm, and shooting at several of the students.

According to the affidavit obtained by WFAA, Haynes also “appeared to take a point-blank shot” at another student who was not able to run away from the scene of the shooting. The affidavit claimed that five students were shot by Haynes and were transported to the hospital.

Prior to the affidavit, Jason Evans, a Dallas Fire Rescue, told reporters that four victims, ages 15 to 18, had been injured in Tuesday’s shooting. Evans told reporters that the students’ injuries ranged from non-life-threatening to serious injuries.

According to Dallas ISD officials, the school campus was secured by 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Dallas ISD Police officials confirmed that Haynes turned himself in at the Lew Sterrett Justice Center in Dallas shortly after 9 p.m. According to jail records obtained by WFAA, Haynes has been charged with “aggravated assault mass shooting” and was placed in jail with a $600,000 bond.

WFAA reported that Dallas ISD Superintendent Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Elizalde confirmed that Wilmer-Hutchins High School classes will be canceled for the remainder of this week and that mental health resources will be available for any students and staff members.

“Today as we all know, the unthinkable has happened,” Elizalde said. “And quite frankly, this is just becoming way too familiar, and it should not be familiar.”

Following Tuesday’s school shooting, Gov. Greg Abbott (R-Texas) released a statement, saying, “Our hearts go out to the victims of this senseless act of violence at Wilmer-Hutchins High School.” Abbott added, “Cecilia and I ask our fellow Texans to join us in praying for the victims’ swift recovery and for the entire Wilmer-Hutchins High School community.”

A video shared on X, formerly Twitter, shows a massive presence of Dallas Fire-Rescue and police vehicles outside Wilmer-Hutchins High School following Tuesday’s shooting.

  • National Census: Tinubu Demands Report In Three Weeks

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday inaugurated the Presidential Committee on Population and Housing Census and tasked its members to submit an interim report within three weeks.

Speaking at the inauguration held at the State House in Abuja, Tinubu, represented by his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, described the upcoming national census as crucial to the country’s development.

He said the census was important for effective decision-making in key areas such as healthcare, education, security, and economic planning.

Nigeria last conducted a national census in 2006, when the population was recorded at over 140 million people.

Tinubu stressed the need for a technology-driven enumeration process that would yield credible and verifiable results.

He directed the committee to work closely with all relevant agencies, particularly the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, which he said must take ownership of the exercise.

“Work with all relevant agencies, including the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning. This ministry has to take charge of this because you cannot budget if you do not know how many we are.

“We expect you will touch on the technology area because the census must be technology-driven. Things have changed since the last time that we conducted this exercise. The enumeration has to be technology-driven with biometrics and digitalisation,” he said.

In his remarks, Senator Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning and chairman of the committee, assured the president that the report would be ready within the stipulated timeframe.

He recalled Tinubu’s charge to ministers during their 2023 retreat to innovate and maximise available resources, despite economic constraints.

Bagudu said despite global economic challenges, Nigeria is making steady progress under President Tinubu’s leadership, citing improved foreign exchange stability and a positive growth trajectory.

He said the committee will recommend practical solutions, including strategies for mobilising domestic and international resources to fund the census.

The Minister of Information, Muhammed Idris, also a committee member, emphasised that accurate data is critical for planning across all sectors and that a credible census is the foundation for such data.

The National Population Commission (NPC) Chairman, Nasir Isa Kwarra, who will also serve as the committee Secretary, said the commission has already begun preparations for the national population and housing census in collaboration with the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning and other relevant stakeholders.

According to him, the focus has been on identifying key requirements and laying the groundwork necessary for the President to make an informed decision on the actual conduct of the census.

Kwarra assured Nigerians that the National Population Commission remains committed to ensuring a credible, technology-driven enumeration that will support effective national planning and development.

The eight-member committee also includes the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), the Director General of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), the Principal Secretary to the President, and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Administration and Operations (Office of the Chief of Staff).
