  • Tekken 8 Season 2 emergency update patch notes

Tekken 8’s Season 2 update was not really what players were looking for considering it tanked the game’s Steam reviews to “Overwhelmingly Negative” upon release, and the developers are making some more adjustments now to try and appease their base.

Bandai Namco just released the emergency update patch notes for the incoming Version 2.00.02 update for Tekken 8 that will attempt to undo / mitigate some of the damage caused by the last one.

Out of everything in the update, players have been generally unhappy with the shifts made to the game to make it even more offensive based than Season 1, which is not what the developers said their goal was originally.

There’s more safe moves, 50/50 setups and tracking moves that skewed the gameplay to those pressing the buttons that led to big combos and fast rounds.

It also led to three-time Evo champion DRX|Knee calling Tekken 8 “selfish” and laying out a list of nine issues he has with the game.

To try and address this in part, Bamco is increasing the max health values of the cast so they can withstand more of a beating than before.

Moreover, they stated they are nerfing some overly high-reward moves as well as tuning the Heat System more to reduce the amount of chip damage dealt as one of the aspects.

We also know at least Paul and Jack-8 will be receiving some changes as well to address some of their unintended move buffs that could lead to unblockable or uninterruptable setups — and hopefully they take care of Anna’s move copying glitch too.

This update will be available in full once the current round of server maintenance for Tekken 8 ends tonight.

There’s another update planned for mid-May to address more specific moves and characters next month.

You can check out the full list of patch notes here as we continue to update the story, which can also be found on the official Tekken website.

    Story is developing…

  • Abike Dabiri asks Cape Verde to release detained Nigerian tourists

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has called on authorities in Cape Verde to release six Nigerian tourists currently being held at an immigration deportation facility in the nation.

In a statement issued Wednesday, April 16, by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit of NiDCOM, the commission revealed that the tourists were travelling from Senegal to Cape Verde for a vacation when they were allegedly profiled at the point of entry, pulled out of the immigration line, and accused of not having sufficient funds. Their phones were reportedly confiscated before they were detained.

According to reports from the detention centre, the Nigerians — aged between 25 and 31 — are being held in distressing conditions without access to legal or consular assistance. One of them is reportedly suffering from a medical condition and has been denied access to his medication.

“We appeal to the immigration authorities in Cape Verde to please treat the tourists with respect and dignity and put them on the next immediate return flight to Dakar for onward connection back to Nigeria,” the statement read.

The detained individuals were identified as: David James Udoh, Lily Dada, Oghenero Adaware, Sherifat Abimbola Ogundairo and Jesutomi Aina.

The group had reportedly booked their trip through a travel and tourism agency, Ìrìn Travels, which has since raised concerns about the treatment of the travelers.

Family members have expressed deep concern for their loved ones’ safety and well-being, urging the Nigerian government and international human rights organizations to intervene urgently.

NiDCOM confirmed that the issue has been escalated to the Consular and Migration Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for further diplomatic engagement.

Reiterating its commitment to the protection of Nigerians abroad, NiDCOM called on host nations to respect international conventions on the treatment of visitors and migrants.

As of the time of this report, Cape Verdean immigration authorities have not responded to the allegations or offered clarification regarding the tourists’ status.

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday inaugurated the 465 kilometres road of the Ebonyi section of the Trans-Saharan Superhighway at Amuro-Mgbom in Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Represented by Gov. Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi, Tinubu said that the project would usher in massive socio-economic development in the state stressing the commitment of the Federal Government to infrastructure developments of the South-East.

He said that the era of isolation, marginalization and infrastructure neglect was giving way to an era of transformation, inclusion and nationwide accessibility.

Tinubu said that the critical section of the 465 kilometers highway was a project that promised to change the face of infrastructure across the South-East, North-Central and South-South regions of Nigeria.

“The project would be a quality road that would last for many years on completion.

”I’m very much confident with the calibre of people that are handling this project as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“And, I’m also very committed to the completion of this project because with the kind of mobilisation I see here today we may not have any hitches,” the President said.

Nwifuru explained that the inauguration of project was a defining moment in the history of the state.

“Today is not just about the inauguration of a road construction project , it is a day that history will be remembered as a defining moment in our collective journey toward progress, connectivity and national integration.

“We are gathered here on the soils of Ebonyi to witness the take-off of this initiative which is not merely a civil engineering task.

“It traverses Ukwuachi-Mbeke Ishieke, Ebonyi Local Government Area and proceeds into Benue State.

“The project is part of a larger, ambitious highway system that links the Enugu-Abakaliki/Ogoja Highway through Benue, Kogi, Nassarawa, to the very heart of Nigeria’s capital, the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

“The project’s extension into Cross River State, through Odukpani to Calabar solidifies its
importance not just regionally but nationally.

“This effort is being championed by one of the brightest minds in Nigeria’s political and engineering spheres, a man whose footprints of development are deeply etched into the foundation of our dear State, Chief Dave Umahi, Minister of Works.

“His legacy as a builder of roads, bridges and lives speaks volumes and today, he continues that legacy on a national scale,” Nwifuru said.

  • San Jose Sharks’ AHL affiliate might be without Bordeleau, Ostapchuk

SAN JOSE — The San Jose Sharks are optimistic that their AHL affiliate, the Barracuda, will have some key players back for the start of the Calder Cup playoffs next week.

Forwards Thomas Bordeleau, Zack Ostapchuk, and defenseman Jack Thompson, three players who have all made an impact in the AHL this season, are all injured and were unavailable to play in the Sharks’ season finale on Wednesday at home against the Edmonton Oilers.

Bordeleau, Thompson, and Ostapchuk were injured during the Sharks’ game on Sunday in Calgary against the Flames. Thompson (upper-body) and Ostapchuk (lower-body) left the game in the third period. It’s believed Bordeleau (upper body) was injured early in the game, although he continued to take a regular shift and finished with 10:38 in ice time.

Bordeleau was recalled from the AHL on Saturday, Ostapchuk was added to the Sharks roster on March 14, and Thompson has been in the NHL since March 31.

As of Wednesday, all three were considered day-to-day, and Thompson was on the ice in the morning. Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky said it was too soon to say whether any of them might have to miss the start of the AHL postseason early next week, “but we’re pretty optimistic.”

This season, Thompson has 14 points in 27 AHL games, and Bordeleau has 38 points in 59 games. Before he was acquired from the Ottawa Senators at the NHL trade deadline last month, Ostapchuk, with Belleville, had 11 points in 15 games this season and 28 points in 69 games with the team last season.

The Barracuda clinched a spot in the playoffs last weekend and entered this week tied with Calgary for fifth place in the AHL’s Pacific Division.

San Jose and Calgary each have 79 points. They will play each other at the Saddledome on Friday and Saturday to determine which team will have the higher seed for the postseason. The team that finishes fifth will likely have an opening-round best-of-three series against Coachella Valley in Palm Desert.

The Sharks are hoping the Barracuda can go on a lengthy playoff run to give some of their younger prospects valuable playoff experience at the pro level. The Barracuda have not competed in the postseason since 2021, when the AHL only held playoff rounds in the Pacific Division. The Sharks have not made the playoffs since 2019.

The Sharks also sent defenseman Luca Cagnoni back to the Barracuda on Tuesday and placed Lucas Carlsson on waivers on Wednesday.

Cagnoni assisted on Macklin Celebrini’s goal in the Sharks’ 2-1 overtime loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Monday.

With 49 points in 62 games with the Barracuda this season, Cagnoni was named to the 2024-25 AHL All-Rookie Team, as voted on by coaches, players, and media from each of the league’s 32 member cities.

Cagnoni leads all Barracuda skaters in power-play points (32) and ranks in the top five in both power-play goals (10) and assists (22). Among AHL defensemen, Cagnoni, before Wednesday’s games, ranked in the top six in goals (14), assists (35), and points (49).

NHL teams have until Thursday morning to claim Carlsson, who has one year left on his two-year, $1.6 million contract he signed with the Sharks last July.

Carlsson, 27, will play for the Sharks on Wednesday night, marking his 13th game with the team since he was recalled from the Barracuda on March 21. Per the collective bargaining agreement between the NHL and NHLPA, if a player on an emergency recall plays in more than nine games, he has to go through waivers to return to the AHL.

  • Candidates free to sit for examination anywhere in Nigeria

The Joint Administration and Matriculation Board has stated that its candidates are free to sit for their examination anywhere in the country.

The examination body is reacting to a misleading publication regarding the UTME examination, which inaccurately claims that candidates cannot sit for the examination outside their state of registration.

Public Communication Advisor, JAMB, Fabian Benjamin disclosed this on Wednesday while reacting to a misleading publication regarding the UTME examination, which inaccurately claims that candidates cannot sit for the examination outside their state of registration.

According to Mr.Benjamin, the information disseminated by a news medium is incorrect.

“In a recent interview with a NAN reporter, I clarified that candidates are not restricted to taking the examination within their state of registration. They have the flexibility to register anywhere in the country and select any town nationwide from any registration point.

“Computer-Based Test Centres are clustered according to towns for convenience, allowing candidates to choose the town where they wish to take the examination.

“For example, if a candidate selects Garki as their examination town, they must take the exam there and cannot do so or be posted, as alleged at times, to a different town.

“It is crucial to rectify this misunderstanding to prevent confusion among candidates. Those who have registered for the UTME and selected examination towns outside their state of registration are indeed permitted to sit for the examination in their chosen towns,” he added.

He further stated that candidates have the freedom to select their examination town from any location across the country, regardless of their state of registration.

“For instance, a candidate can register in Lagos and opt to take the examination in Sokoto or any other location.

“This flexibility is designed to accommodate candidates’ preferences and ensure they can choose a location that is convenient for them.

“We urge the public to disregard the erroneous report from NAN in its entirety,” he added.
