    Christ is in our midst, my beloved readers!

    Today, it is as if all of nature holds its breath. The birds sing more softly; the trees whisper faintly with their leaves. All creation stands still, awaiting something wondrous. The world pauses, caught between sorrow and hope.

    While Christ’s disciples wept and mourned, believing all was lost—thinking themselves deceived, having hoped that Jesus was the Messiah— he Savior Himself descended into Hades. Yet He entered not as before, humbly into Jerusalem, but as mighty Conqueror, the Destroyer of Hell. The guardians of the abyss scattered; the iron gates were shattered; and in the depths of hopelessness, Light blazed forth.

    When a soul dwells long in darkness, sudden light wounds the eyes. Thus did the Light of Christ pierce those who, all their lives, had walked in rebellion against love, against truth, against righteousness—those who had lived for nothing but their own gain. Hades was laid waste. Yet the divine Light continues to bring torment to those who, on earth, sowed evil—and this torment shall be eternal, for God is eternal, and His name is Love.

    But with what unspeakable joy did those who awaited Him greet the Christ—those who had borne witness to Him by word and by deed! The prophets, the righteous—all who, whether in this life or beyond it, had longed for His coming—now beheld their hope fulfilled and were filled with gladness at the arrival of the Savior.

    The Lord has broken the bonds of Hades. Yet still, the darkness clings to human hearts. There, in the secret chambers of the soul, lurk the shadows of despair, cowardice, sorrow, anger, and every destructive passion. But there is no abyss so deep that the Light of Christ cannot reach it.

    So, let us on this Great and Holy Saturday, open wide the doors of our souls to Divine Love. Let its warmth melt the ice of our hearts, and grant us the great hope of our own resurrection.

  • Northern politicians have failed the region

    Kaduna State Governor,  Uba Sani, says northern politicians have failed the region and must apologise to the people. 

    He spoke in an interview with TRUST TV. 

    He added that the government of the day must allow criticism but it should be rooted in the interest of the people, not driven by a quest for power. 

    “Every democracy must allow criticism, but it must be constructive, and in the interest of the Nigerian people. That’s what we did as activists — not because we wanted power,” he said. 

    “But when you attack the government and you’ve been part of it… Anyone — like I said — who is from northern Nigeria and held a political office in the last 20 years, we all need to look at ourselves in the mirror and apologise to the people of northern Nigeria. We let them down.” 

    Sani admitted being part of the system and said northern Nigeria’s challenges stem from decades of underdevelopment and neglect. 

    “I’ll say it here today — all of us; I was a senator in this country, and the problems of northern Nigeria didn’t start two years ago,” he said. 

    “We’re talking about developments — or lack thereof — over the past 20 years; I can give you the data and statistics next time we meet. 

    “I chaired a committee on banking, so I know the poverty index of northern Nigeria. I know how many people, as we speak, are financially excluded.” 

    The governor said despite massive social intervention spending under former president Muhammadu Buhari, the region grew even worse due to systemic exclusion. 

    “Don’t forget, when Buhari was president — people forget this — he spent hundreds of billions on social interventions,” he said. 

    “But I’ll tell you why the north became poorer even after that. Because 70% of the population in northern Nigeria — especially the masses — were completely financially excluded. 

    “If you’re a former senator, a former member of the house of representatives, a former governor, a former minister, or even a former vice-president from northern Nigeria in the last 20 years — you’re part of the problem. All of us.” 

    The governor asked political leaders to avoid deceiving citizens with dishonest claims, while expressing respect for critics who speak truthfully and uphold genuine ethical principles. 

    “And that’s why I believe we must not deceive the people of northern Nigeria. We must not mislead them,” Sani said. 

    “That’s why I said earlier, I’ve no problem with people criticising the government — people like Dan Bello Galadanchi. 

    All those individuals, I can tell you, have the moral right to criticise this government. But those who were part of the rot and are now saying they’ve repented — please, I think that’s wrong.”

  • Honor X60 GT Officially Arrives with Big Battery and Fast Chipset

    Honor X60 GT is officially available in China. Only five days after the phone became available for pre-register, it is now officially available. It’s part of Honor’s new GT series, with another phone in the GT Pro model and tablet GT Pad Pro becoming available on April 23.

    The X60 GT is a powerful device. It is driven by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor from Qualcomm. This provides smoothness even under heavy use such as gaming or multitasking.

    There are three memory options for the phone. Users can have either 12 GB or 16 GB of RAM. Storage is either 256 GB or 512 GB.

    One of its biggest selling points is the battery. The Honor X60 GT comes with a whopping 6,300 mAh battery. This is one of the largest batteries ever to be included in an Honor smartphone. It has 80W fast charging. The battery can charge up to 47% in 15 minutes.

    Honor also had a bypass charging feature. This enables the phone to run directly on power without charging the battery. It lowers heat while gaming. A large vapor chamber and cooling system cool the phone, with a total cooling area of 5,514 square millimeters.

  • Raw material bill threatens Nigerian exporters, manufacturers —CPPE warns

    The Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise, CPPE, has criticized the proposed Raw Materials Bill currently before the Nigerian National Assembly saying it will bring significant adverse and unintended consequences for Nigerian exporters and manufacturers if passed.

    The bill, which seeks to restrict manufacturers from importing essential raw materials and intends to impose barriers on exports, is awaiting passage by the National Assembly.

    The economic think tank, therefore, called for the bill to be withdrawn.

    Chief Executive Officer of CPPE, Dr Muda Yusuf, made this known in a statement sent to Ripples Nigeria on Monday, April 21, 2025.

    The statement reads, “On the face of it, the idea of promoting local value addition is good for the economy and potentially enhances the chances of better earnings from our exports. But the policy has to ensure a balance between the interests of exporters of primary products and the processors. It is also imperative to undertake a robust study on domestic raw materials availability before legislating a ban on raw materials for manufacturers.

    “What is needed is a win-win proposition, not a zero-sum game. The current proposal in the bill will penalise exporters in the country, most of whom export primary products. Thousands of jobs in the primary products export supply chain would be put at risk. The major non-oil exports are cocoa beans and cocoa butter, cashew nuts, gum arabic, ginger, sesame seeds, and shea butter. Even crude oil export is still a major component of Nigeria’s export. Until recently, domestic refining capacity was nil.

    “This proposition raises a number of questions. What metrics would be used to determine the minimum 30% value addition?

    “Who will determine and give approval for the export to proceed? What study has been done to determine the local processing capacity for each category of primary products currently being exported?”

    “What metrics would be used to determine raw materials that manufacturers would be allowed to import into the country?”

    “What is the effective time frame for implementation? Is it within the mandate of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) to be promoting the ban of exports or imports?

    “The position of the CPPE is that this bill raises more questions than answers. It is a very simplistic proposition that has not taken into account the critical challenges of manufacturing, processing, and value addition in the Nigerian economy. This contextual understanding is very critical to enrich the conversations around the raw materials bill. Most agro processors have collapsed not so much because of the raw materials availability but because of the challenges of productivity and competitiveness.

    “Production costs are prohibitive. The cost of energy, cost of funds, logistics cost, bureaucratic bottlenecks, exchange rate, multiple taxation, etc. These are bigger issues that need to be addressed to promote value addition. We should be causative in our approach to solving problems and focus less on the symptoms.

    “If passed, the bill would create new corruption gateways in the bureaucracy as businesses will now be burdened with another chain of approvals.

    “Additionally, the issue of export or import bans is not within the remit of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council or the Ministry of Science and Technology. It is in the realm of fiscal policy, which is within the purview of the Ministry of Finance, working in collaboration with the Ministry of National Planning and the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment. And in this particular instance, the Nigeria Export Promotion Council [NEPC] must be in the loop. This is essential to determine the implications for the non-oil export sector, the manufacturing sector, and the economy as a whole. It is also important for policy coordination and coherence.

    “Import and export regulations are not often legislated. They are trade policy issues that are calibrated from time to time by the fiscal policy authorities in light of prevailing economic conditions. It is not a matter for the national assembly to legislate upon. Trade policies are also meant to be flexible, which is why they are not often a subject of legislation.

    “We therefore submit that the national assembly should discontinue deliberations on the bill and encourage the raw material research and development council to focus on its core mandate of raw materials research to offer the most cost-effective raw materials option for manufacturers. The council’s involvement in trade policy matters is an aberration. Besides, the bill has a very weak value proposition. The CPPE advises the RMRDC to withdraw the bill.”

    Rasmus Hojlund has struggled badly, with his form dipping to the point that staff at Old Trafford have begun to lose faith in his long-term potential.

    With the club’s attacking issues so clear, it’s no surprise that United were linked to fresh attacking options during the January transfer window.

    One name that was firmly on the radar was Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku.

    He has often found himself misprofiled in a system that revolves around Cole Palmer’s central influence.

    Nkunku’s best years came at Leipzig, where he thrived as a shadow striker.

    Typically operating in the number 10 role and making late, intelligent runs into the penalty area.

    At Chelsea, that role has largely belonged to Enzo Fernandez.

    Thus forcing Nkunku to adapt to positions where his qualities haven’t been fully utilised.

    It therefore comes as little surprise he has found it difficult to shine.

    Now Chelsea are ready to move him on.

    With United’s need for goals greater than ever, the links to Nkunku could easily resurface as the summer window approaches.

    Eighteen students from Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, have emerged with First Class Honours in the recently released results of the Nigerian Law School’s 2025 Bar Finals Examination.

    According to the post on the institution’s website, the students include Ibe-Omodo Chioma, Ebubechi Bartholomew Okonkwo, Julius Chukwudi, Ebubechi Ifunanya Nnaji, Peace Udochukwu Onuigbo, Chinecherem Maureen Anatuanya, Wisdom Chibuike Oguguo, Obiajulu Leonard Okoli, Charles Olumba Stella Onyeka, Echefu Stellamaris Uchechukwu, Nwokocha Annastecia Chidinma, Obasi Sochima Evangeline.

    Others include, Ezeanyaso Tony Chinweitito, Nwabuzor Chioma Glory, Amanoh Chisom Goodness, Alagboso Daniel Ifeanyi, Anene Chinaza Peace, and Ifechukwu Praise Mmesoma.

    The institution noted that the achievement marks the highest number of First Class Honours recorded by its Faculty of Law, and is a testament to its commitment to academic excellence.

    The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor Felicia Ayaogu, expressed pride in the students’ achievement, attributing it to the dedication of the Faculty’s lecturers.

    “This is the true situation. Our students have made us proud, and we give all glory to God Almighty,” she said.

    She emphasized that the Faculty of Law has made deliberate efforts to cultivate an environment that fosters effective learning, teaching, and research.

    The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu, also commended the Faculty of Law for its stellar performance and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to producing globally competitive graduates.

    He congratulated the students on their achievement and assured them of the university’s continued support.
