    By Nelson Amaobi Osuala

#Don’t over do. Keep your limits.
    # Don’t take yourself so seriously, no one else does.
    # Don’t waste your precious energy on gossips.
    # Dream make while you are always.
    # Envy is a waste of time, you already have all you need.
    # Forget issues of the past. Don’t remind your partner with his or her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.
    # Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don’t hate others.
    # Make peace with your past so it won’t spoil your present.
    # No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
    # Smile and laugh more.
    # You don’t have to win every argument, agree to disagree.

  • NEWS: Security Refuses To Be Part Of The Election

    By Dickson Blessing
Military chiefs had written in a letter to INEC chairman Proffesor Attahiru Jega that the military would not be involved in the General election on the 14th and 28th of this month due to their involvement in keeping peace in the north eastern Nigeria.

The council of state sits again this morning to decide based on the reasons of the military if the election would be held.

The National Security Adviser to the president Colonel Sambo Dansuki said he had advised INEC chairman to shift the polls based on the letter he received  from the Chief of Defence Staff Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh.

Badeh letter to the NSA with the concurrence of all the service chiefs, said the military had just launched a major effort with the collaboration of Chad, Cameroon and Niger Republic to rid the North East region of Boko Haram insurgents once and for all. He said while the operation lasts, it will not be possible to hold elections in Adamawa, Yobe, Borno and Gombe states. The CDS therefore advised the NSA to advise INEC to either defer elections in the four states or alternatively to postpone elections throughout the country for at least six weeks. He indicated that the military preferred the second option.
The NSA had briefed the council that the military brass need a postponement while the operation in the North East lasts.
Its been learnt that the commission has scheduled a series of meetings for today. Professor Jega and his commissioners will meet with political party representatives at 10 am, meet with civil society groups at noon, meet with Resident Electoral Commissioners [RECs] at 2 pm and then hold a full meeting of the commission at 4pm. Afterwards, INEC would announce its final decision to the public.
  • LAUGH IT OUT: Yoruba Mothers!!!

    By Nelson Amaobi Osuala

Yorùbá mothers are one of the best when it comes to child upbringing.Yorùbá mothers produce the best range of slaps: IGBATI, IFOTI, IGBAJU, IGBARUN, IFORUN, IFAKUN, ILADI, ABARA.

These slaps will make you think you were adopted. IGBATI will make you correct your wrongs instantly! The beauty of IFOTI is, you will confess your sins on the spot. IGBARUN, IGBAJU and IFORUN will make you expose those who committed the crime with you without hesitation.ABARA and ILADI will make you pee in your new pants.
Now ABARA is the worst…And apart from IGBAJU, we have an advanced one which is IGBAJU OLOYI. When you receive that one, you’ll lose balance and your head will go into “auto-search” as you’ll be looking for what hit you. This will make you do all the actions of the other slaps aforementioned at once!
Oh! IGBAJU OLOYI…It can reset someone to 3D (DEAF, DUMB, and DAFT). She will say let’s go home and you will say it’s in my pocket ma. Lol.
God bless our parents for the good upbringing. If you were brought-up in Yoruba land, regardless of how caring your mother was, you’d have encountered these slaps ….

Do not fight a battle if you don’t gain anything by winning.
    By George S. Patton
  • POLITICS: We Must Remain In Power – PDP

    By Efio-Ita Nyok

For those of us who are conversant with certain realities in Nigeria's political scene, we would remember that, in the hay days of the People's Democratic Party PDP, it was rumoured that they boasted of a 60 year agenda in power. Meaning that they would be in power until 2058A.D. Lets approximate it to 2060AD being good Mathematics students.

Though today there is a disorientation in the PDP as it borders on the individual structures that constituted the party, it seem to me that, though that aspiration may no more hold water among the rank and file today, the fact still remain that the remaining individual features in the PDP still want to push that agenda maybe unknown to them or not directly to fuel that sentiment.

It still beat my imagination why President Goodluck Jonathan should be pushing for postponement of the 14 February general elections. Does it occur to the president and his team that postponing the elections further on what so ever basis is inimical to the growth of our 16 years democracy? Is the president aware that Nigeria is our collective business and not necessarily all about his reelection?

It was Abraham Lincoln who, in his Gettysburg Address(November 1863) defined democracy as government by the people, of  the people and for the people. The recurrent decimal in this famous definition is 'the people'. The Sophist of ancient Greece had earlier  posited that 'man is the measure of all things'. I think Nigerians should be the measure of government especially come 14 February 2015!

Democracy is and should be all about the people not necessarily the oligarchs. By people here I mean to refer to the masses, the electorate, etc. I do not mean to refer to a cabal that determine the trend to the detriment and against the glaring wishes of the masses. For crying out loud, the February 14 general elections should be about the people and not the lopsided sentiment of the party.

Mr. President, if Nigerians are no more comfortable with their political romance with you, that disposition should be respected. If they want Buhari, its their choice! At least, you should have remembered that 14 February was on the way when Nigerians pooh poohed the level of corruption in Stella Oduah, Alison Madueke, etc and you pretended to be deaf.

Mr. President, it took you ten days to admit that the Chibok saga was the truth. And until now nothing has been done. I want to use this opportunity to commend the Council of State for insisting that elections continued as scheduled. Worthy of commendation also is Professor Attahiru Jega for taking the bold step to conduct elections come February 14.

Let the masses decide the outcome of the elections not a cabal. Let ideology prevail over religious and tribal sentiments. If Nigerians want 'change', good! If they want 'transformation', better.

Whatsoever we want, let's have the right to decide.

  • NEWS: Council Of State Denies Postponement Of Elections

  • PERSPECTIVE: Divulging The Unholy Marriage Between Politics & Religion. Towards The Forthcoming General Election.

    By Nelson Osuala
“Nothing could be more dangerous to the existence of this republic than to introduce religion into politics”…Robert Green Ingersoll.
The above quotation informs the thesis of my discourse. As we approach the forthcoming general elections, many hearts are filled with enthusiasm, others with worry and the phobia of the supposed resultant outcome of the elections with particular focus to the February presidential election to which Nigerians from all works of life including the roadside market women are now counting days and no longer months. It is my utmost desire to bring to our notice what I consider as the future prognosis of a chaotic and imploding electioneering outcome conceived in with the intent of religiosity, nepotism, sentiments and selfishness.
I am not a religious prophet, but like Prof. Wole Soyinka wrote in one of his novels.. ” ..I AM THE ABIKU..CRYING FOR THE FIRST AND REPEATED TIMES…” It is no mincing words that many Nigerians have made up their minds to vote on the basis of religious sentiments rather than credibility. Some have placed a seemingly divide based on what I may call misguided religious prejudice between the two major presidential aspirants of the Peoples Democratic party and the  All progressive Congress (Dr.Goodluck Ebele Jonathan cum Rtd. Gen. Buhari) respectively.
The consequence of this negative mindset in balloting is that it will damn and mortgage the destiny of our future generations. I have received text messages regrettably from some great men and women of God, who try to coerce me into voting for Jonathan because he is a Christian and to not vote for Buhari because he is a Muslim. Some of these people further informs that if I on my own volition decide to vote for say for instance Buhari..that God would judge me.
The question I have for such is…Is God a Christian..? I am of the opinion that God is neither a Christian nor a Muslim. He is neither a Politician nor a Religionist like we suppose him to be. He will neither make Jonathan the president because he(Jonathan) is a Christian, nor will he make Buhari the next president because he is a Muslim.
He is to my best of knowledge an impartial God and Judge. We can only pray for His will to be done. What I suppose we need in this country of ours is …A leader, a statesman with a servant heart and a sincere purpose. We don’t need a Christian nor do we need a Muslim, all we need is a leader.
My point is. It is not about the religious inclination,it is not about the personality but about the credibility of the person. I suppose therefore that its hightime we stopped all these partisan ships which are based on ethnicity, nepotism, egalitarianism, godfatherism, tribalism, prejudice etc and to vote for credibility with the future generation in mind premised upon the fact that if we fail to do this, posterity will not forgive us.
I encourage all Nigerians to go out enmasse on the said date with not just their legs and hands but also with their hearts. I strongly believe that if we will vote not on the basis of religious preference dogmatic mindsets but rather on the basis of credibility of character and thrust..then our future generations will look back and bless us for doing the right thing.
As I conclude i wish to remind us all that whatever would lead us into casting our votes for any of the presidential candidates is what would stand as a testament for or against us. Some  would cast their votes based on the material gifts and peanuts they had, have and will be given having sold their consciences for material gifts, others will cast in their votes on the basis of one or more of the afore mentioned sentiments ecetera.
But I only employ you who is reading to bracket your mind from any selfish reasons and to cast your vote with a future referential peaceful and developmental outcome at heart.
