  • NEWS: PDP accuses Rivers APC of buying PVCs for N10,000 each

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rivers State chapter, says it has received several reports from the 23 local government areas of the state that the All Progressives Congress, APC, has been buying Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) for 10,000 each.

According to the party, the development was a ploy to disenfranchise the primary owners in the March 28 and April 11 general elections.

The party in a statement by the state chapter said it was appalled that the leadership of the APC had engaged its members to procure the INEC-issued PVCs.

“This portends grave danger to the nation’s democracy. It also jeopardises the efforts of the government and the Commission in the quest for free and fair elections,” it said.

  • NEWS: Jonathan, PDP plotting to link fake Shekau with opposition – APC Campaign

The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation has alerted Nigerians to alleged desperate plot of the President Goodluck Jonathan government and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, to unleash a fake leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, on the opposition party.he APCPCO, however, urged Nigerians not to be deceived by the dubious, wicked and desperate plans of the drowning PDP and its candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan, to win the presidential election.

A statement signed by Mallam Garba Shehu, the Director of Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation, said that any purported “capture” of Shekau will conflict with three previous claims by the Federal Government and its operatives that the insurgent leader had been killed.

“We need to alert Nigerians that President Jonathan and the PDP have concluded plans to release the fake Shekau as a final campaign gimmick to gain cheap votes and inadvertently subvert the will of Nigerians in the 28th of March 2015 Presidential election.

“The drowning PDP and its presidential candidate who are looking for straws to hold unto will then claim to have arrested the leader of Boko Haram, who would be paraded before the media and induced to mention the names of some notable members of the opposition, APC including our presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari as the sponsors of their murderous insurgency.”

Shehu said it was shocking that the President and his party would resort to cheap and wicked blackmail against the opposition just to remain in office.

He said: “No evil plan fashioned by the PDP and its ruinous ruling government against the electoral wishes of the Nigerian people will prosper, because the people of Nigeria have resolved on their own accord to vote for change in 2015.

“This Party Deceiving People has wasted 16 precious years of the nation’s democratic life and therefore Nigerian people will not hesitate to give them a red card in next weekend’s election. So, manufacturing a Shekau whom they claimed to have killed three times previously will not help them in any way”

  • NEWS: APC sponsoring those calling for Gani Adams’ resignation – OPC Read full story here:

The leadership of Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, on Saturday accused some “expelled members” of the party of working for the All Progressives Congress, APC. In a statement made available to Daily Post by Hakeem Ologunro, OPC National Publicity Secretary, he said the APC was yet to come to terms that the group had openly declared support for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan.

According to him, the unflinching support given to the Jonathan-led government by its founder, Dr Fredrick Fasheun and National Coordinator was worrisome to the opposition party. Ologunro noted that “yet again, the hawks are beginning to display their desperation as the election draws nearer”. According to him, under the guise of a group, purportedly belonging to the OPC, a former member, one Monsuru Akande, addressed a press conference calling for the resignation of Otunba Gani Adams as leader of the OPC. Continuing he said, “Funny enough, Monsuru Akande signed the so-called press release as the Welfare Chairman of the OPC.

But the man holding this position since 2007 after Monsuru was sacked had been Comrade Oluwole Iyaromi. “But for the benefit of the public, I would like to explain some points here. Monsuru Akande was expelled from the Congress for anti – party activities in 2007. Soon after his expulsion, Monsuru became a land grabber and thug to one Owo- Eye and Sons, an Estate Agent locates in Sango area of Ogun State. “Let the public ask Monsuru why he was sacked from the group, which of the zone of the Congress does he belong to and did he and his fellow rabble rousers demand the sum of 10 million from Otunba Gani Adams before he was eased out of the Congress in 2007? “It is however surprising that Monsuru and his group are coming out shortly after our protest.

We would rather advise them and their pay masters to be ready to bear the consequences of their actions. “We are not unaware that the APC Is behind the activities of these faceless groups in their desire to cause disaffection among our members. But we are sure that they will fail in every step of the way. “A similar scenario played out in Ekiti State, where a faceless group claimed it belongs to the OPC. But soon after their purported press statement, that state secretary called to dissociate himself from the statement. “We would expect more of such statements from these people until after the election. But let’s tell Nigerians now that whoever deals with these people does so at his or her own risk”

  • NEWS: Jonathan has ordered EFCC to immediately arrest Tinubu, others – APC

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has raised the alarm over plan by the Jonathan-led federal government and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to arrest its national leader, Bola Tinubu and other chieftains of the party by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, ahead of next Saturday’s election.
APC National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Saturday said the federal government also planned to freeze the accounts of companies, individuals and organisations believed to be financing the party so as to cripple its activities.
“Without mincing words, we are aware that a RED ALERT has been sent to the EFCC to arrest the National Leader of our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on trumped-up charges anytime from now,” he said.
“In addition, anyone who is suspected of being a financier of the APC is to be arrested, all in efforts to decapitate the main opposition party which is undoubtedly cruising to victory in the forthcoming elections.
“And as part of the offensive against the APC in the days ahead, there is a plan to freeze the accounts of companies, individuals and organisations believed to be financing the party, with the ultimate objective of crippling the party so it won’t be able to sustain its activities, like paying its agents on Election Day and other logistics.
“I am sure the question playing on your lips are: Why would anyone want to arrest APC leaders at this time? What have they done to warrant their arrest? Will there still be a level playing ground for the elections if the main opposition party is decimated just days to the polls?
“Well, we can tell you that this planned arrest is orchestrated by the same people who have sponsored a series of protests to the EFCC, on the basis of the same documentary against Asiwaju which they also masterminded. It may sound like an intrigue, but that is exactly what it is”.

  • LOVE : How To Live A Life Of True Forgiveness.

    By Lizzy Adie.

To actually forgive is divine. Start by pinpointing the source of your hurt, was it a failure, a missed opportunity, a heart break, a person who was mean to you, or someone who neglected you?  Get to the root of your pain.  What are you feeling? Is it sadness, grief, anger, pity or loneliness? Or is it something deeper like hate, disgust, Jealousy, or depression. The hurt may strike more than one chort on your heart.  Here are some few steps to totally live a life of true forgiveness.
     1.  Forgive yourself and let go : forgiveness starts from within, you were not the reason that someone hurt you. It’s not your fault, you need to forgive yourself first before you can have the capacity to forgive others. Only then are you able to let go of the negative emotions associated with the hurt caused by someone else.
    2.  Breathe in Comparison : let comparison flow, one breath at a time. First, with yourself, then for the person who hurts you.
    3.  Forget about the problem and move on to the solution of forgiveness. Give your forgiveness to that person with no strings attached.
    4.   Forgiveness is one of the most powerful way to empower personal growth. But for the forgiver and the forgiven. When you let go of the burden of the hurt and all the negative energy of the emotions associated with the hurt, you are giving the peace and freedom to live as a better version of yourself.
    5.  Love Again : forgiveness lets you love again. Once you forgive, your heart is full of love. You are stronger because you love yourself and love others no matter the magnitude of their transgressions. You forgive because you love, and you love because you forgive.

  • NEWS: I’ll surely defeat Buhari – Jonathan declares

President Goodluck Jonathan remains confident he will win a second term despite the growing popularity of his main challenger, Muhammadu Buhari.

With elections less than two weeks away, Mr. Jonathan told the BBC in an interview that he has nothing to worry about, as his ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, remains the strongest party in Nigeria despite Mr. Buhari’s All Progressives Congress, APC’s widespread support.

“I will surely win it… My party is still the strongest party,” the president said.

The interview was published Friday, a day after the chairman of PDP, Adamu Mu’azu, admitted the surging popularity of the opposition meant his party cannot secure a landslide in the presidential, parliamentary and governorship elections.

Mr. Mu’azu however expressed confidence that the PDP will “perform creditably”.

“Our major concern in the Peoples Democratic Party is not to allow the country to be hijacked by desperadoes masquerading as purveyors of good governance, who promise heaven and earth to the people without any intention of fulfilling their election promises in the name of change,” the PDP chairman said in a statement Thursday.

“While I do not see a landslide victory coming, I am convinced that our party will perform creditably in the Southwest and the North of Nigeria and elsewhere in all the elections this year because the evidence is clear that despite our travails at the beginning, we have done very well over the past fifteen years of our nascent democracy since 1999 to record victory. Those who disbelieve our resilience will be surprised for victory is ours.”

In a wide-ranging interview with the BBC, Mr. Jonathan repeated his comments that he believed the abducted Chibok school girls are alive since the jihadist sect, Boko Haram, has not shown they had been killed.

“We have not seen dead girls that is the good news. I believe they are still alive, I believe we will get them,” he said.

The president said the Nigerian military will hopefully recover the remaining territories under Boko Haram control in less than a month.

He said the group has grown weaker with the government’s renewed drive that has seen the military reclaim several towns held by the terror group.

“I’m very hopeful that it will not take us more than a month to recover the old territories that hitherto have been in [Boko Haram’s] hands,” Mr. Jonathan said.

“We never expected that [Boko Haram] will build up that kind of capacity. We under-rated their external influence. Since after the civil war we’ve not fought any war, we don’t manufacture weapons, so we had to look for help to re-equip our army and the air force.”

On violence during his presidency, Mr. Jonathan said he took responsibility for “whatever goes wrong”.

“Whatever goes right, I take the glory,” he said. “Whenever I hear that somebody dies in Nigeria… I feel pain, because they are all Nigerians.”

  • LIFESTYLE: Checkout 5 Reasons sleeping with someone else will not help you get over your Ex Read full gist here:

There was once a point (or two) in my life when I resorted to hooking up with people to get over other people. Heartbreak can sometimes make us do desperate things…. I didn’t want to throw myself around like that. I’m the type of girl who enjoys relationships, consistency and being with one person at a time. But, when you lose someone you care about, you lose a part of yourself, whether temporarily or not. This guy who broke my heart made me empty promises that kept me optimistic. He said he loved me, introduced me to his family and said I was unlike anyone he had met. But, words can only hold so much value when the actions don’t match up. We started having problems because he had commitment issues. Emotionally, I couldn’t do it anymore. I had the nerve to walk away from him, but with some repercussions: I resorted to a sex-binge to cure my sadness. That’s like a recovering drug addict turning to alcohol for solace, or a long-time vegetarian trying meat again for the first time. And, nine times out of 10, the effects will be awful. Here’s why: Leading with the physical limits the mental In the hook-up culture that is the 21st century, we get too caught up with sex and the sexual aspect of relationships. We constantly wonder, “Is he or she using me? Does he or she think I’m good in bed? Will I get more attached if we do the deed?” It’s ridiculous. Our first thoughts shouldn’t be about something so physical and insignificant, and if we meet someone new after a breakup, we definitely shouldn’t immediately think about leading him or her into the bedroom. Delve into this person’s mind, find his or her deepest secrets and learn about his or her family. Take the time to appreciate yourself and other people on a more substantial, rewarding level. It’s like putting a Band-Aid on a broken bone A temporary fix for a long-term issue is never a good idea. The first step is admitting that you are sad, emotional, broken, lonely, etc. There’s nothing wrong with being sad unless you try to cover it up and give everyone the infamous Meredith Grey, “I’m fine” spiel. You’re not fine. Sex won’t fix your problems or make you feel any less lonely. Ultimately, waiting to recover correctly on your own will only help the process of getting over whomever broke your heart.

Don’t grab a replacement human for your void. Be independent and grow from it. Emotionless sex will only make you feel worse We date one person and commit to him or her, sexually and emotionally, to not engage with people of the opposite sex unless in a friendly manner. Sharing that level of intimacy with someone else is distasteful and almost unimaginable. Yet here we are, heartbroken and sad, and we latch on to the nearest mate in search of something to supply familiar feelings and reassurance. You’re giving yourself away to someone about whom you couldn’t care less, and all the while, you think about the person who broke your heart. This will leave you feeling worse than you did originally. Sacrificing your self-worth for someone else isn’t acceptable One of the most important lessons I’ve learned thus far from relationships is that you will attract a certain kind of person based on how others perceive you. If you lack self-confidence, you’re uneasy and emotionally damaged, that’s the type of person who will try to be with you. This won’t work out — ever. Especially after heartbreak, you have to learn to love yourself again. Become independent, realize your strengths and appreciate your own worth. Know that your ex didn’t break up with you because you weren’t good enough. The “love yourself or nobody else will” phrase really comes into play in this situation. The only cure to heartbreak is time Everything in life is about timing, and often, it seems that you are the worst in the world at it. You met this person when you were too immature, you passed by this person when you had just gotten into a relationship, you just missed that bus to see this person… the list goes on. Just remember that there is a reason behind all of this madness. Timing is especially important after heartbreak. The quicker you try to rebound, the longer the recovery will be. Avoid the sex binges, the lust-crazy daydreams and the Tinder dates. Take time for yourself and you’ll be amazed by who will walk into your life next. So, what is the main lesson here, my friends?
