AKRON, Pa. (TCD) — Police recently arrested a 28-year-old landlord for allegedly lighting his tenants’ home on fire because he was upset with them.
According to a news release from the West Earl Township Police Department, on March 23, shortly before 2:15 a.m., officers responded to 312 South 10th St. in reference to a “civil issue.” Ronald Frisbie III, a landlord, became upset with his tenants after they allegedly broke a washer and dryer machine. Police “handled the situation,” and officers left around 25 minutes later.
Officers were called back to the scene at approximately 2:44 a.m. to a report of arson. At the scene, police learned Frisbie used a keypad door lock to enter the apartment he rented out to his tenants. He then allegedly lit a cardboard box on fire, and the apartment filled with smoke. A witness reportedly extinguished the flames, and the box was removed from the home and placed outside.
According to police, Akron Fire personnel also responded to the scene to confirm the flames were fully out, and they aired out the apartment.
Frisbie was arrested and booked into the Lancaster County Prison with a bail set at $75,000. The suspect faces charges of arson, burglary, and two counts of reckless endanger another person.
