Senator (Prince) Bassey Otu, the Governor of Cross River State, has called upon the state judiciary to foster cooperation and uphold fairness in the administration of justice.
During a courtesy visit by the Chief Judge, Justice Akon Ikpeme, accompanied by other members of the inner bench, Governor Otu emphasized the need to establish a strong and harmonious relationship among the various branches of government.
Governor Otu stated, "We are confronted with numerous challenges, and it is vital that we work together to serve the interests of our state. Let us unite our efforts to facilitate the growth and development of Cross River State."
He further expressed his commitment to ensuring that the people of the state not only enjoy the benefits of democracy but also that leaders shoulder their responsibilities effectively.
Governor Otu had previously instructed the prompt replacement of official vehicles for senior judges that have been in service for an extended period. He assured that this directive would be fully implemented within the week. Additionally, he pledged to address issues related to office accommodation and other necessities for the judiciary, aiming to safeguard official documents from being taken outside unnecessarily.
Governor Otu stressed the importance of upholding justice, emphasizing that the judiciary remains the backbone of society, serving as the voice of the common man and the last line of hope. He expressed satisfaction with how the state has adhered to the principles of the constitution.
On her part, Chief Judge Justice Akon Ikpeme congratulated Governor Otu on his well-deserved victory in the polls and subsequent assumption of office.
