CALABAR – The Governor Of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Otu has suspended the ongoing Civil Service Recruitment exercise until further notice.
Otu’s directive is contained in a press statement issued on Tuesday, signed by Emmanuel Ogbeche Chief Press Secretary.
The statement noted that the suspension became necessary in order to revalidate all promotions carried out within the last 6 months, as well as carry out a complete reverification of all civil servants in the state civil service.
It reads “In line with the Cross River State Government desire to reposition the state civil service to meet modern day service delivery objectives, as well as enable the government to plan effectively for the overall good of our hardworking civil servants, his Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Otu Governor Of Cross River State, has approved as follows.
” A comprehensive reverification of all civil servants in the state civil service.Revalidation of all promotions Carried out within the last 6 months. Suspension of ongoing recruitment of civil servants till further notice.
” The directives is that all civil servants must subject themselves to screening and verification in the office of the secretary to the State Government, at a date to be announced”.- It reads.
Recall that sometime last year the immediate past governor had lifted the barn on recruitment, which led to the state civil service commission starting a fresh recruitment process. Also on the 18th of May, few days to expiration of his tenure as Governor of Cross River State, Ayade had ordered the recruitment and immediate employment of 155 graduates from the fabrication academy, to be recruited into the civil service in Cross River State.
