CALABAR – The Cross River State Library complex in Calabar has been closed, set to undergo a comprehensive refurbishing, remodelling, and upgrade.
This is in response to a recent approval by the State Executive Council to remodel and reconstruct the dilapidated state library complex in Calabar and other significant infrastructure development projects in Calabar.
The council’s greenlit emergency intervention works on roads and drainage, with particular attention given to the rehabilitation of key thoroughfares like Murtala Muhammed Highway and Ndidem Iso Road.
Furthermore, the council approved urgent measures to address the Marina Resort gully erosion, emphasizing the government’s commitment to environmental sustainability. The decision reflects a strategic effort to enhance the overall livability and functionality of the Calabar metropolis.
Also in a bid to strengthen the state’s educational framework, an Executive Bill for the Re-establishment of the State College of Agriculture and Forestry in Obubra was approved for transmission to the State Legislature. This move aims to contribute to the availability of middle-level manpower in agriculture and forestry, aligning with the broader state re-afforestation program.
These decisions showcase the government’s strategic approach to fostering sustainable development, addressing immediate infrastructure needs, and investing in long-term projects to uplift the agricultural and educational sectors in Cross River State
