Otu set to Appoint 40 Special Advisers as Assembly gives nod

Almost two weeks after taking the oath of office, Sen. Prince Bassey Otu governor of Cross River State is set to appoint 40 Special Advisers to help him pilot the affairs of the state.
Yesterday during the valedictory session of the state house of assembly, the lawmakers granted consequential approval to the State Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Otu to appoint forty (40) Special Advisers.
The approval was granted after the House deliberated on a letter forwarded to the house requesting their approval in line with the provisions of Section 196(1) of the 1999 Constitution as amended adding that the Special Advisers are to assist him in the performance of his official functions.
The Lawmakers noted that the new Governor needs to appoint people of integrity who will assist him deliver his campaign promises to Cross Riverians. They further congratulated the Governor on his assumption of office and wished him well in his new assignment
The valedictory session presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Eteng Jones Williams, saw members taking turns to present their valedictory speeches, while also prodding some memorable events in the life of the 9th Assembly.
The House also received in attendance former Majority Leader now Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Peter Odey, former Speaker John-Gaul and Members-elect.
