CALABAR – The Cross River State Governor, Sen. Bassey Edet Otu has approved the appointments of 83 persons as Special Advisers, Special Assistants, Chairmen of Boards and Director General of Agencies, the list also include Personal Assistants.
The list came in three batches last night in a press release by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Ogbeche had 38 Special Advisers, 14 Chairmen of Boards and Director Generals of state own Agencies as well as 31 Special Assistants and Personal Assistants.
This brings the total number of Appointments made by the governor on the 5th of March to a total of 83.
Calabar Parrot observes that out of the 83 appointments made by the governor on 5th of March 2024, 3 days to International Women’s Day, only 17 were women while the remaining 66 were men. It was also observed that most of the appointments given to women were women or gender related, which means all of the appointments were exclusively reserved for men expect those ones perceived to be women friendly.
Recall that the governor had promised to include women in governance while promising to allocate over 35 percent of appointments to women.
