Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti says he is rejigging the Security architecture of the State to completely nip in the bud new trend of crime in some parts of the State, assuring all those coming home for the Yuletide of adequate Security.
Governor Otti who gave the hint on Friday during the Monthly Media chat entitled; ‘Governor Otti Speaks to Abians’ at Government House Umuahia, also assured that the South East Governors are collaborating to permanently address the issues of insecurity within the region.
“I would like everyone to be rest assured that our government is not going to rest on its paws until we rid this place of any criminal activities. Be that in the rural or urban areas.
“It is on that note that I would also encourage our brothers and sisters in the diaspora who have indicated that they are going to come because we have made adequate arrangements to protect everyone in the state,” Otti said.
On the new National Minimum wage which commenced in October in the State, he said he has directed that the issues relating to the consequential adjustment be resolved as soon as possible while the December and 13th Month Salary be paid on or before the 20th of this month.
Responding to the reports that some permanent Secretaries and other civil servants earlier disengaged were yet to get their entitlements, the Governor said he has directed the Accountant General to address the issues, assuring that all concerned would get what is due them.
The Governor said he is engaging with relevant stakeholders in the Agricultural sector to revive moribund farm settlements in the State, and announced that a private company is about to invest 120 million Dollars in the Palm oil value chain of the State.
“The Company Has visited and signed an MOU to invest 120 million dollars in palm production. So we are looking at the upper area, then after that, we will look at other areas.
“The important thing is that this company is partnering with another company called PHC (Plantations Et Huileries DU Congo) which operates the largest palm plantation in Congo.
“So they have a track record and they have the funding available. So we believe that that will give agriculture a boost,” Otti assured.
