The Abia State Government has reiterated its commitment to always support the federal fire service Abia State command for effective, responsive, and efficient service delivery.
The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Kenneth Kalu, stated this when he received the Controller of the Federal Fire Service, ASP Onyendi Juliet, and her team, who visited him in his office.
Prof. Kalu maintained that the critical role the agency plays in safeguarding lives and property cannot be overemphasised.
He pointed out that the present administration led by Governor Alex Otti is poised to ensure that we have a decent state that will be comfortable for all; hence, it has embarked on massive investment in the infrastructure of major sectors, including security, health, and education, among others.
The SSG assured them that their request would be looked into to tackle them.
In her speech, the leader of the team and the federal controller, Abia Command of Fire Service, ASP Onyendi Juliet, disclosed that the familiarisation visit was to solicit collaboration with the state government.
She used the opportunity to reel out some of their challenges, which include a lack of befitting office accommodation and a lack of operational vehicles, among others, and expressed hope that more Abians will be involved in the forthcoming recruitment exercise of the agency.
