The Governor of Abia State,Dr. Alex Otti, has hailed President Bola Tinubu for appointing an Abia-born Environmental Expert, Dr. Nkiruka Maduekwe as the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Council On Climate Change (NCCC).
Expressing joy over the appointment, Governor Otti described it as well deserved, and enjoined Dr. Maduekwe to see the appointment as an opportunity, as well as an inspiration to continue to record greater feats and break new grounds in her service to fatherland and humanity, given her vast knowledge and experience in Climate Policy and Project implementation.
According to the Governor, Climate Change has become a topical issue that’s occupying the front burner at the global level, hence it’s inspiring and heartwarming to see an Abia daughter blazing the trail as an Environmental Expert at a young age of 39.
Governor Otti assured that the government and people of Abia State will stand in solidarity with Dr. Maduekwe to ensure that she enjoys the home support that would give her the encouragement to succeed.
He appreciated President Tinubu for the appointment and assured him of his continuous support and cooperation to move the nation forward.
Dr. Nkiruka Maduekwe, hails from Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, and holds a Bachelor of Law degree; a Master’s degree in Environmental Law & Policy from the University of Dundee (UK), and a Doctorate degree in Law from the University of Hull (UK) with over fifteen (15) years of international experience in climate policy and project implementation..
She is also to serve as the Co-Chairperson of the Intergovernmental Committee on the National Carbon Market Activation Plan (NCMAP).
