International development consultant, political scientist, social entrepreneur and public affairs analyst, Mr Princewill Odidi, has suggested that the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Mr Ben Ayade, should invite a certain lady caught on camera last week giving water-leaf to Acting President Yemi Osinbajo during the 1st June one day working visit to Cross River, for at least a handshake.
The Atlanta-based Nigerian who is certain Acting President Osinbajo would extend an invitation to the said benevolent water-leaf seller said that the memory of the woman’s gesture, like some, would be long lasting. He tagged the photograph, ‘Picture of the year’.
Odidi’s words, ‘Silver and Gold I have not, but what I have is some water leaf, please give it to madam when you get to Abuja.
‘Some events and memories last a lifetime. This is one of them. Ayade should invite the waterleaf seller to his office at least for a handshake. I know Osinbajo will soon extend an invitation’.
To my mind, that water-leaf seller’s gesture demonstrates the truth in the assertion that Cross River is a hospitable culture.
I endorse Odidi’s candid suggestion of Ayade extending an invitation to the water-leaf seller at least for a handshake. The Commissioner for Tourism designate, Mr Eric Anderson, should particularly midwife the process of executive invitation.
