Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has returned to Nigeria to bring some holiday joy to the people of Olusosun, Ojota, where he spent his early years.
Osimhen, who has had an eventful year, took time off his busy schedule to give back to the community that shaped him, spreading smiles to women and youths in the area.
Osimhen began 2024 with a major achievement, securing his second Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) medal. He played a crucial role in helping Nigeria reach the AFCON final in Côte d’Ivoire, earning a silver medal to add to the bronze he won in 2019.
Although Napoli faced struggles in the 2023/24 season, Osimhen still impressed with 17 goals and four assists in 32 appearances.
Despite heavy transfer speculation linking him to Chelsea, Arsenal, PSG, and Manchester United in the summer, no move materialized.
Instead, Osimhen made a loan move to Galatasaray in Turkey, where he has been in scintillating form, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists in just 15 matches.

His recent performance included a brace in Galatasaray’s 5-1 victory over Kayserispor, capping off a strong first half of the season.
Spreading Cheer in Olusosun
As part of his annual holiday tradition, Osimhen made sure to return to his roots. He kicked off his festive break by attending the Tony Elumelu all-white party, an event frequented by Nigeria’s elite, where he mingled with top celebrities, including billionaire businessman Tony Elumelu.

However, Osimhen’s most meaningful stop was back in Olusosun, the Lagos slum where he grew up. Despite his global fame, he remains committed to his roots and ensures he gives back to the community each year.
Olusosun, located near Ojota, is home to a towering landfill that serves as a stark reminder of the economic challenges facing the area. Yet, Osimhen has never forgotten his humble beginnings.
In a heartwarming display of generosity, Osimhen returned to Olusosun on Christmas Eve, distributing 2,000 tricycles, bags of rice, cartons of noodles, and other essential food items to local residents.
The food items were allocated to mothers, while the tricycles were given to the youth, providing them with a means of livelihood.
This selfless gesture highlights Osimhen’s ongoing commitment to uplifting his community, reinforcing his dedication to making a positive impact even as his career continues to soar globally.
