Opp’s 64th Rattlesnake Rodeo will be this weekend

Headlined by country musicians Tracy Lawrence and Shenandoah, the 64th Annual Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo will be held at Channell-Lee Stadium in Opp from Friday, March 21, through Sunday, March 23.
Activities planned for this year’s event include arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, snake handling, snake cooking, snake demonstrations, entertainment, children’s rides, beauty pageant, and 5K race.
Tickets are available online through Eventbrite with a link accessible at rattlesnakerodeo.com.
Gates will open Friday at 5 p.m. with free admission for all. Below Alabama will perform at 6 p.m. followed by Confederate Railroad at 7:30 p.m.
Gates will open Saturday at 9 a.m. Alyssa Jones will perform at 2 p.m. followed by Brandon Norris at 5 p.m. and Five Runs at 6 p.m. Headliner Tracy Lawrence will take the stage at 8 p.m. The snake races and educational snake show times will be Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. with the final snake race starting at 4 p.m.
Tracy Lawrence is an American country music singer, songwriter, and record producer. He has released a total of 14 studio albums with two albums certified as double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. He has charted more than 40 singles on the “Billboard Hot Country Songs” charts including eight number-ones “Sticks and Stones,” “Alibis”, “Can’t Break It to My Heart.” “My Second Home,” “If the Good Die Young,” “Texas Tornado,” “Time Marches On,” and “Find Out Who Your Friends Are.”
Gates will open Sunday at 10 a.m. Shane Owens will perform at 1 p.m. followed by Shenandoah at 3 p.m. An educational snake show will start at 11 a.m.
Shenandoah is an American country music band founded in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, in 1984. They have released nine studio albums, of which two have been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. The band has also charted 26 singles on the “Billboard Hot Country Songs” charts including number-one hits “The Church on Cumberland Road,” “Sunday in the South,” “Two Dozen Roses,” “Next to You, Next to Me”, and “If Bubba Can Dance (I Can Too).” Current band members are Marty Raybon, Mike McGuire, Donnie Allen, Paul Sanders, and Austin Brown.
