Operator: Electro-Gold at Rand Refinery

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The purpose of this role is to operate Electro-Gold, grain casting and GDP processes.

SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO

Running gold electrolytic process.
Accounting for all inputs and outputs of the electrolytic process.
Melting and granulation of cathode.
Melting of sludge, stubs, and slag to minimize work in progress.
Precipitation of Gold and Platinum Group Metals.
Execution of weekly stock take.
100% participation of monthly and quarterly stock take.
Drives timeous and accurate reporting through production logs & performance feedback on shift basis.
Ensure that daily production targets are executed & feedback is provided to the Supervisor.
Complies with and ensures that all health and safety rules are met and acts pro-actively by addressing any safety concerns which may be harmful to self or other Associates.
Participate in daily toolbox meetings and section’s monthly safety meetings.
Ensure cost control of consumables e.g. Reporting faulty equipment to minimise further damage, using and storing PPE correctly.
Always wear PPE correctly and advise team members accordingly.
Minimise re-work by carrying out tasks as outlined in the procedure.

Requirements

Minimum requirements

A completed Matric qualification.
Must have at least acquired a year’s working experience within a precious metals environment.

SKILLS/ COMPETENCIES

Computer literacy – MS Office.
Good communication skills.
Do basic trouble shooting by referring to procedures.
Provide clear routine communication in connection with instructions, requests, or normal work tasks.
Operate equipment and be able to complete the checklist accurately.

KNOWLEDGE

SHEQ knowledge – able to conform to the various departmental safety requirements.
