The Capcom Pro Tour 2023 Japan, a Street Fighter 6 qualifier event for Capcom Cup X, is taking place this weekend due to being postponed back in December due to technical issues caused by a patch. This is one of the five remaining ways to qualify for Capcom Cup X at this stage of the Capcom Pro Tour, so stakes are particularly high for this event.
Over 900 players were registered to compete at the event with some big names like BST|Fuudo, Rohto|Tokido, GyoGun|Moke, BST|Daigo, Victrix|Momochi, DFM|John Takeuchi, RB|Bonchan, RC|Haitani, and many more included. Needless to say, this is the perfect opportunity for us to once again gauge where the meta for Street Fighter 6 is at the moment by taking a snapshot of the characters being used in the top 64 portion of the bracket.
Luke ended up being the most popular choice at the event. Since the launch of the game, it feels like Luke has established himself as one of the obvious top tiers due his outstanding normals.
Though some players have seemingly been campaigning the idea that Ken is outside of the top five, he ended up being the second most popular fighter at the event. While Luke had nine players using him, eight players in total used Ken in the top 64 part of the bracket.
JP and Chun-Li have also performed well at the event with six players apiece using them. However, it should be noted that two players for each of Luke, Cammy, JP, and Ken were present in the top 8.
Ultimately, every character in Street Fighter 6 saw at least some usage in the top 64 except for three. This suggests that A.K.I., Ryu, and Manon could be among the weaker combatants right now.
