Onitsha market fire: Police constitute tripartite committee to unravel cause

The Anambra State Police Commissioner CP Ikioye Orutugu, has promised to constitute a tripartite committee to unravel the true cause of the inferno.

The CP announced this when he pay an on-the-sport assessment visit to the scene of the incident at Ifijirika street, main market Onitsha, on Monday.

He said the committee which comprises the police, the market leadership and the state government will be headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operation, Mr. Eziekiel Ibrahim.

He said the aim of the committee is to investigate the true cause of the unfortunate incident.

He urged the traders to remain calm and go about their normal businesses.

The CP also monitored the Monday sit-at-home in the commercial city, where he assure the traders that the command under his watch is fully prepared to safeguard the lives and property of everyone living in Anambra State.

He equally urged them not to allow the sit-at-home syndrome, becomes a custom and tradition in the market and the state at large.
