Candidate of the African Democratic Congress ADC in the forthcoming November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, Mr John Nwosu has described the recent shooting and killing of Onitsha trader, Miss Chinwe Igwe by personnel of the Ocha Brigade, an Anambra Environmental Law Enforcement outfit as evidence of bad governance in the state.
Nwosu expressed his grief while speaking to journalists at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) Auditorium Awka, on Wednesday during the second annual public lecture of His Royal Majesty Obi Nnaemeka Achebe (Obi of Onitsha), themed, “Restructuring for True Federalism: A challenge to Igbo Leadership.”
Recall that late miss Chinwe Igwe and six others currently receiving treatment at the hospital were attacked and shot by the Ocha Brigade operatives during an alleged altercation with some traders in Onitsha main market on Tuesday 9th September, 2025.
Speaking further on the unfortunate incident, the ADC candidate urged Onitsha traders to expressed their grievances by voting out governor Soludo during the voting process.
According to him, for the past three and half years, what I have been getting from Anambra State is bad and chaotic governance.
“Our people are being over tax and their needs un-meet. I can tell you pressmen/women that what transpire on Tuesday in Onitsha, the commercial city of the State is a clear evidence of a chaotic governance in our environment, orchestrated by the current All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA -led government in the state.
“If elected governor of Anambra State, come November 8, 2025, I will Grand full autonomy to the 21 local government areas in the state. I will conduct an efficient local government election where all the traditional rulers and other community leaders including non-indegenes will be fully involved. My administration will put to end, all this chaotic behaviors in the state. Therefore, anybody that is talking about giving government of Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo another four years doesn’t mean well for Anambra State,” Nwosu warned.
