Drug traders in Onitsha market, Anambra State have cried out to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo to urgently intervened and stop excessive illegal revenue collection activities in the market.
They lamented that the illegal activities has become a daily norm in the drug market, also know as “Ogbogwu market” without any government intervention and it has affected deeply their means of livelihood.
They accused the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the market, Comrade Chukwulota Ndubuisi of using some officials from the Anambra state revenue collection committee (CTC) in the drug market to extort them.

The traders who spoke more on the development with Journalists in Onitsha over the weekend, shortly after a rowdy session with the CTC officials in the market, lamented the activities of the committee over the forcefully collection of companies levies of N65,000 each from them.
While narrating their ordeal in the hands of the officials under the directive of Comrade Nduibusi, one of the protesters, Mr Emmanuel Ozoemenam, alleged that the traders in the market are also forced to pay security levies security levies and other unregistered charges.
He called on Governor Soludo to help them, because “so many things are negatively going on in Ogbogwu market.
‘ We are being extorted everyday. If you go to markets, they will forcefully collect what they refferd to as companies levies of N65,000 each from us.
“We are tired of all this. This people want to force us back to our various villages. We urgently need governor Soludo’s urgent intervention.
“God save us from a recent incident that happened on Wednesday last week, at Ogbogwu market, when the leadership of Anambra state revenue collection committee that called CTC in Ogbogwu market used watch night members against the good people of Ogbogwu market,to collect illegal levis in the market.
Mr Chukwulota Ndubuisi, the Caretaker Chairman of the drug market, wants to kill us before state government will come in. We passionately appealed to governor Soludo to come to our aide, Ozoemenam cries out.
In a swift reaction, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the market, Comrade Chukwulota Ndubuisi denies all the allegations level against, promised to address the matter at the appropriate time.
“I know nothing about the allegations, but I will address the press at the appropriate time,” the Chairman noted.
