On November 4, 2024, the people of Yakurr entrusted Hon. Yibala Igri Inyang with the sacred responsibility of leading the Yakurr Local Government Council. Upon assumption of office, he made a clear promise, to serve with sincerity, lead with empathy, and bring government closer to the people.
One year later, that promise has become reality across every sector of our local government. Guided by divine grace and the collective will of our people, this administration has focused on what truly matters: touching lives, solving real problems, and restoring trust in leadership.
Below are highlights of the achievements recorded under the leadership of Hon. Yibala Igri Inyang, Executive Chairman, Yakurr Local Government Council, and ALGON Chairman, Cross River State.
INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT
From day one, the Chairman committed that every council ward would feel the presence of his administration — a commitment that has begun to take shape.
✅ Renovation of the Council Secretariat and installation of a solar-powered water system.
✅ Emergency intervention and new pavilion construction at Yakurr Peace Stadium, Ugep.
✅ Construction of multiple culverts and drainage projects across council wards in Ugep, Ekori, Nko, and Idomi.
✅ Renovation of the Chairman’s Official Quarters, Ugep.
✅ Ongoing construction of a Modern Market in Afrekpe-Epenti, Ekori.
Approved projects set to commence include:
– Construction of pavilion at Mkpani Playground
– Rehabilitation of Agoi Mbami Market
– Construction of culverts in Biko-Biko, Usaja, Agoi Ekpo, Iyima, and Abanamkpai Ward
Each of these reflects a government that listens and responds to the needs of its people.
HEALTH SECTOR
The administration has partnered with the people of Ijiman to build a Model Primary Health Care Centre and is collaborating with the Cross River State Government to enroll indigent residents in the State Health Insurance Scheme, ensuring affordable and accessible healthcare for all.
YOUTH & SPORTS DEVELOPMENT
Dozens of youths have benefited from empowerment programs, including solar installation kits, hair clippers, sewing machines, and ICT tools — aimed at promoting self-reliance and entrepreneurship.
The revival of Yakurr United Football Team stands as a symbol of unity, with new kits, stipends, and structured support for local talents.
AGRICULTURE
Through the office of the Wife of the Chairman, local farmers received farm chemicals and fumigation sprayers, enhancing productivity, promoting modern practices, and boosting food supply across Yakurr.
EDUCATION
To promote academic excellence, bursaries for 65 students (5 per ward across 13 wards) have been approved, with disbursement scheduled to begin in January.
ECONOMIC SUPPORT
Recognizing current economic realities, the administration has provided ₦10 million in direct financial support to vulnerable households, demonstrating that governance must always have a human face.
PEACE & SECURITY
Through collaboration with traditional rulers, youth leaders, and security agencies, the administration has maintained peace and stability across Yakurr, making it one of the most peaceful and united LGAs in Cross River State.
One year down, and the journey of impact continues. The administration of Hon. Yibala Igri Inyang remains focused on building a Yakurr where progress is shared, leadership is felt, and development touches every home.
