Street Fighter 6 has been a very interesting experience so far. Since its launch back in June, the game has been criticized in similar ways to every vanilla version of a Capcom fighting game we’ve seen since Street Fighter 4, but it’s also evolved in ways that are unique to it.
Back in July, one of the best and most accomplished Street Fighter 6 players in the world, MenaRD, took to Twitter to share his feelings about the game, saying he believed then that it was “the scrubbiest Street Fighter game” he’s ever played. Recently, the two-time Capcom Cup champion revisited this opinion, but instead polled the people and asked if they feel Street Fighter 6 is a scrubby game. Here’s what the community had to say.
In July of this year, Mena shared his take on Street Fighter 6 via a tweet that garnered a ton of attention. With his incredible accomplishments back in the Street Fighter 5 days, Mena has cemented himself as one of the greatest competitors Street Fighter has ever seen, so his opinions on these games tend to carry a lot of weight.
“I’m having the same experience [Street Fighter 4] players had in [Street Fighter 5],” Mena said in a tweet on July 13, 2023. “Street Fighter 6 is the scrubbiest [Street Fighter] I’ve played, hope it keeps getting better like 5 year by year.”
Coming from Street Fighter 5, a game that alienated a lot of players and fans in a variety of different ways, Street Fighter 6 really looked like it would be the return to form that the people desperately wanted — especially leading up to launch. A lot of people felt that way and many still do, though the game (like every fighting game) has its frustrating aspects that people have been vocal about.
I say all of that to say that Mena’s original take was met with quite a bit of push back, which led him to share a follow-up tweet the next day.
“I just said SF6 is scrubby right now and I hope it improves like [SF5] did over the years,” Mena began. “Season 1 to 3 of SF5 were bad too.
“I’m gonna play the game regardless, but we need to be able to discuss these things and not kill each other SF6 is fun, but scrubby,” Mena concluded.
It’s December 2023 now, and July was quite some time ago. Since then, Mena has gone on to secure some major tournament wins in Street Fighter 6, and what we know and how we feel about this game has grown and changed a lot since then.
Over the weekend, Mena put out a poll on X (formerly Twitter) to ask followers and anyone who comes across the tweet what they think about Street Fighter 6. Is it indeed a scrubby game so far?
After over 6,000 votes in the poll, the people have spoken. The consensus is that Street Fighter 6 is not scrubby.
55% of voters opted to choose the “nah” option, while 44% voted that it is scrubby.
So, sf6 scrubby or nah? So far

Street Fighter 6 is a lot of things to a lot of people. For some, this game is indeed scrubby because mechanics such as raw Drive Rush allow players to zip across the stage and be in the opponent’s face very quickly with a lot of advantage.
On the other side of the coin, Street Fighter 6 is incredibly intricate and deep, with solutions to seemingly every situation being available, though requiring some digging and research to find.
What do you think? Is Street Fighter 6 scrubby? Let us know in the comments.
