Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is one of those games in the fighting game community that will never go out of style. If there were a Mount Rushmore of the best and most popular fighting titles in history, MvC2 would very likely secure a spot on it and do so comfortably.
Having said that, there are still things being shared here in 2024 that not everyone has seen before, and some of the deeper cuts are among the most impressive the game has to offer. Romneto recently shared a clip on Twitter featuring a match against Maddroo in which the latter pulled off an incredible infinite with one of the game’s more unorthodox fighters.
The set these two warriors played out took place just a few days ago. In this particular clip, Romneto is running a team of Magneto, Storm, and Psylocke, while Maddroo is using Darkstalker’s own Anakaris, Dhalsim, and Sentinel.
When it comes to MvC2, it is more often than not that we’re seeing the top tiers in the spotlight. Magneto, Storm, Sentinel, Cable, Psylocke, and Cyclops are often used in high level play as they are tried and true.
But some players go completely off the beaten path, and Maddroo is a perfect example of showing how much potential other characters in the game can actually have. Using Anakaris on point, Maddroo is able to ensnare Romneto into a devastating infinite using the creepy fighter’s Curse move.
When the curse lands, the opponent is transformed into a small, shriveled little zombie and they are essentially left open to an attack. It can be tough to set up the curse, but with the help of Dhalsim’s assist, Anakaris can basically land a launcher, spike the opponent down into Sim’s assist, then fire off a curse and make it hit.
What’s even more amazing about this infinite is that the loop itself is only four hits, but because of the nature of the curse, Maddroo is able to keep doing the loop and keep resetting the damage each time as it technically acts as a new combo.
This makes this infinite dish out a ton of damage, and Maddroo isn’t even able to get through three full loops before Romneto’s point character is KO’d. The Anakaris player goes on to land this infinite against Romneto’s entire team, making for a very quick one-player match.
