It’s common knowledge now that United are in the market to rejuvenate their back four and bring life to the defence through the signing of some new centre backs.

Much speculation has gone on around who the pair in the heart of defence will be going into the 2024/25 Premier League season, however recently Football Insider have provided information that the Red Devils have highlighted their top three options.

Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite made the list, with the Toffee’s looking to offload one of their big name assets to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). The Liverpool based club are valuing the 21-year-old at between £60 million to £70 million, with the financial obligations being a key driver for the price of their star defender.

Nice’s jean-Clair Todibo joins Branthwaite on the list and is already known to United having had a trial with the Red Devils at the age of 17. The now 24-year-old has previously confirmed that talks with United have taken place, although it’s unknown if an official offer has been put in.

Thirdly we have Gleison Bremer, the Brazilian centre-back dominating the defence for Juventus, and it’s the 27-year-old who is not entirely ruling out a move to United this summer.

Manchester Evening News have reported that the Brazilian international has expressed that he would love to get some Premier League experience under his belt.

In an interview with Marca, Bremer said: “I am in a great club, the biggest in the world, and I am happy. I just won my first title, and I want to make history. It is clear that you can never say never. We’ll see what happens.”

He continued: “Yes, there are clubs like [Real] Madrid or Barca that are top. La Liga, Serie A and the Premier League are the best leagues in the world – that’s why one day I would like to try [them]. But, I insist, I am happy at Juve.”

With 83 appearances for the Old Lady across all competitions, Bremer has managed to grab eight goals for the Serie A club, with seven coming in the league and a vital goal against Lazio in the Italy Cup in 2022/23, which took them through the Quarter Finals, only to then be knocked out in the Semis by Inter.

Currently under contract with Juventus until 2028, it’s rumoured the centre-back has a release clause in the contract, allowing him to leave for a value around the €60 million mark.
