On July 7, 2024, on the 2nd Sunday after Pentecost, the Feast of All Saints who shone forth in the Russian Land, and the Feast of the Nativity of the honorable and glorious Prophet, Forerunner, and Baptist John, the sacrament of baptism was performed for the residents of the village Center B (Baringo County, Lugari Deanery) in Kenya, with the blessing of the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Konstantin of Zaraisk, reports Patriarchia.ru.
On this festive day, Fr. Peter Lutomia, the Dean of the local diocese, baptized 84 people. The new parish was named in honor of St. John the Forerunner, as reported by the website of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa.
Afterward, the priest, with the assistance of Deacon John Shilesi, celebrated the Divine Liturgy, during which the newly-enlightened received the Holy Mysteries of Christ.
The catechesis was conducted over two months by Deacon John Shilesi, who had trained in clergy preparation courses in Moscow last year. Catechist Emmanuel Wanjala taught the faithful church singing.
At the conclusion of the service, Fr. Peter organized a communal meal for the new members of the Church.
