NetherRealm Studios has released a brand new trailer for Mortal Kombat 1. While the previous big reveal trailer acted only as a teaser, today we get to see the game’s first DLC character, Invincible’s Omni-Man, in his full gameplay showcase.
Much like last time, Omni-Man is joined by Kameo Fighter Tremor. This trailer gives us a deeper look at what both fighters can do in Mortal Kombat 1.
Omni-Man is an incredibly powerful villain with powers similar to Superman. From super speed and flight to super strength, Omni-Man proves to be a worthy adversary in the world of Mortal Kombat.
This new trailer not only offers an extended look at these two new characters, but NetherRealm Studios has also revealed the official Mortal Kombat 1 release date for Omni-Man. Those who purchased the Premium Edition of the game or the Kombat Pack will be able to get early access to Omni-Man starting on November 9.
As far as Omni-Man’s arsenal goes, new techniques such as a move where he drags the opponent along the floor then tosses them up for a juggle is shown. When in flight mode, Omni-Man can also teleport behind his foe using his super speed, which we see is fast enough to avoid oncoming attacks.
Interactions with various characters are also unveiled here. We see a pre-fight intro between Omni-Man and Kung Lao take place where the former calls the latter cocky, and Lao responds by laughing and saying he won’t be humbled by a man in a cape.
In addition to this, NetherRealm has revealed what Omni-Man’s Fatal Blow and one of his Fatalities looks like. The dual super attack sees Tremor first punch the opponent a couple of times before Omni-Man flies in and pummels them into the dirt brutally like he did in that iconic scene from the source material.
His Fatality is another big reference to the show as he grabs the opponent and holds them in front of a speeding subway train, which sees the victim being struck against everything (including people) in his path. A quick glimpse of what looks to be Tremor’s Kameo Fatality is also shown in the trailer.
More of Tremor’s Kameo abilities are also on display in the new Mortal Kombat 1 trailer. Previously, NetherRealm Studios showed two of Tremor’s assist attacks, which included a quick uppercut and a blast of lava that travels up forward in front of the fighter.
This time, Tremor’s Kameo attacks include a swift straight punch with his fist encased in rock, a quick triple ground pound attack, a projectile that bounces along the ground, a swift forward lava burst, and the ability to reflect projectiles back at opponents.
Tremor appears to have far more attacks than the standard Kameo Fighter, and this is likely the case due to him being equipped with Mortal Kombat X-style variations in Mortal Kombat 1. Last month, Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon shared a teaser GIF that showed Tremor’s display in-game and two of his variations can be see named in parenthesis next to his name as the GIF switched between two different screenshots.
