Leading up to today, NetherRealm Studios and Skybound entertainment have been teasing a presence at New York Comic Con 2023. Though fans began to speculate that Omni-Man’s gameplay trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 would debut at NYCC 2023, Ed Boon bluntly shot down this idea, stating clearly that the “Omni-Man game play trailer will not be at New York Comic Con.”
This was enough to temper most fans’ expectations, but it still felt as though something related to both Mortal Kombat 1 and Omni-Man was looming at New York Comic Con 2023. However, despite what Boon said, NetherRealm revealed the first look at Omni-Man’s gameplay, as well as footage of DLC Kameo Fighter Tremor.
According to the trailer, Omni-Man and presumably Tremor are set for release in November 2023.
“The realms will tremble under the weight of the Viltrum Empire,” reads the trailer’s official description. “Omni-Man approaches our timeline.”
The trailer kicks off with a pre-fight clash between Omni-Man and Fire God Liu Kang. Liu Kang tells Omni-Man that though he’s destroyed worlds, Kang has erased whole timelines. “Finally, a worthy challenger,” Omni-Man responds.
Ed Boon said on Twitter that this new showcase acts as just a peek at Omni-Man’s gameplay. “In celebration of INVINCIBLE’s 20th anniversary, we were happy to show this peek at Omniman in #MortalKombat1 !!” wrote Boon on Twitter.
