Oleksandr Zinchecko could be one of the signings of the summer when he completes his move from Manchester City to Arsenal.

That’s the opinion of talkSPORT host Darren Ambrose, who was speaking ahead of the Ukrainian’s proposed £30million move.

Reports claim the two Premier League sides have agreed a deal for the versatile midfielder and defender, who is set to reunite with former coach Mikel Arteta at the Emirates.

Zinchenko, 25, would become the Gunners’ fifth signing of the summer if he arrives from Manchester, and could potentially be the most important of the lot.

“I think this could be one of the signings of the summer and I don’t like to say that because I’m a Spurs supporter,” Ambrose said.

“£30million for Zinchenko, [Kieran] Tierney has his issues with injury so he’s more than adequate cover, but I think he’ll be going into midfield and I think it improves Arsenal’s midfield.

“When you watch him for Ukraine he plays in midfield, he gives you that bite, he’s clearly a leader as well, he’s clearly a good character.

“Mikel Arteta knows him from Manchester City so they’ve got a good relationship, Gabriel Jesus is already there.

“City and Arsenal have now got that relationship. City are not bothered about Arsenal at the moment so they’re sending them players for half decent prices as well.

“£30million in today’s climate is a good price for a player I feel will go straight into Arsenal’s first team.”

Should the deal get over the line, with some reports claiming it already has, Zinchenko will be the second player this summer to swap City for Arsenal.

Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus has already made the move in a £45m deal, and has been joined by Fabio Vieira from Porto and Matt turner from New England, and Marquinhos from Sao Paulo.
