In a press conference following his unveiling, Solskjaer compared the Besiktas project to his tenure at United, emphasizing the need for building a solid foundation.
“We will create a new base here, similar to what we tried at Manchester United,” he said. “The bonds we build with the players and fans will be vital in shaping our success.”
Besiktas currently sit far from league leaders Galatasaray, trailing by 20 points in the Super Lig standings.
However, Solskjaer expressed confidence in the team’s potential, highlighting its winning history and talented squad, which includes notable names such as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ciro Immobile.
Solskjaer’s arrival has been met with optimism from club officials and fans, but it also comes with significant expectations.
The Norwegian emphasized his commitment to Besiktas’ long-term vision, stating, “I turned down other offers because I believe in this project.”

As for his salary, Mirror reports that Solskjaer will earn €3.6 million (£3 million) for the duration of his contract.
The lucrative deal underscores the club’s ambition to secure a high-profile figure to lead their resurgence.
Solskjaer’s task won’t be easy, with fixtures against title contenders like Fenerbahçe, managed by Jose Mourinho, on the horizon.
Yet, the former United manager remains resolute, aiming to translate his Premier League experience into success in Istanbul.
Time will tell whether this move will reignite Solskjaer’s managerial career and restore Besiktas to their former glory.
