Anglican Priest, Ven Dr Ikechukwu Joseph Egbuonu of Diocese on the Niger in Anambra State has been elected bishop of Oji River Diocese in Enugu State.
Ven Egbuonu was elected bishop alongside Venerable Owen Ukafia of the Diocese of Uyo; Ven Nuhu Yohannato of the Diocese of Kastina;and Ven Mathew Tamunotari Ogaze of Diocese of Ogbia.
Egbuonu is the 2nd bishop of Oji Diocese (Anglican Communion) since its creation in 1999. He replaces the former pioneer Archbishop of Enugu ecclesiastical province, Archbishop Amos Madu who retired last year.
The primate of Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, the Most Rev’d Henry Ndukuba made the announcement in a statement recently at Church of Nigeria standing committee in Delta State.
He urged Members of the Church to pray and support the newly elected bishops and their families as they go into their new places of assignment after consecration.
The Paradise News gathered that, Ven Ikechukwu Joseph Egbuonu was born on 30th September,1976 to the family of late Chief David and Mrs Rose Egbuonu of Uruagu, Umudioka in Dunukofia L.G.A of Anambra State.
He is a graduate of Trinity Theological College, Umuahia and University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He acquired these Certificates, Dip.Th, B.Th, BA, and MA. He is Currently obtained his Ph.D in theology.
He was made a Deacon in July 2007 and was ordained a priest in 2008 in the Diocese on the Niger.
He has effectively served in about 7 parishes and is currently the Vicar of Immanuel Anglican Church Parish Nkwelle-Ezunaka, Anambra State.
He is married to Mrs Ifeoma Egbuonu and they are blessed with four Godly Seed, Divine, Favour, Rejoice and Great.
